28 players in the photo. How many would everyone pick as a starter. I don’t think the squad is strong enough for top four or chmp Lge run.

If all fit.

Sanchez

James Chalobah Colwill Cucurella

Santos Caicedo Lavia

Palmer Pedro Neto (Joao Pedro Striker, Pedro Neto on the left, just in case anybody is confused by the names)

Alternatively

Sanchez

James Chalobah Colwill Cucurella

Santos Caicedo

Palmer Pedro Neto

Delap

This is easily enough to qualify for Champions League with the right manager and if everybody is fit.

Agreed about starting 11 but we a learning the depth is not strong plus goalkeeper not strong to begin with

Certainly a lot of room for optimism after last nights and recent performances.

Looking at the last three games, pretty much exactly what you could expect when you take into account how young our team is and the injuries to key players. Great against Liverpool (surprisingly so), not so good against Forest, but still come away with a 3-0 win. Mixed bag against Ajax - great 5-1 result but bit messy at times and opposition extremely poor.

A lot of the youngsters are looking good (even George didn't look like a Championship level player last night when he came on), but this is when it's easy to get carried away (which I am all too guilty of previously). The two CL wins so far have been against the bottom two sides. We have some very tough fixtures in November, so probably best to wait until December, to see where we are but I am excited by this young squad, even though they are a bit up and down.

I would be more optimistic if we could get over the first 20-25 minutes of lethargy each game, we are getting away with it the last few games but more by luck than judgement.

Our more recent form upturn has, aside from Liverpool, been against very poor sides. Lincoln, Anges forest, a poor benfica team and a terrible ajax side.

Need to see us beat some better teams consistently, sides like Everton, Villa, Napoli, Atalanta, Newcastle etc.

And, except for the Liverpool game, I wouldn't say that we played well in any of these matches. The first 10 minutes or so against Ajax, until the send off, was the same side to side passing and I was dreading another game where we had no penetration. The send off changed everything to be honest, and we started to play with intent. The fact that Guiu scored immediately after the send off was provident too.

I think it is worse than that. We haven't played well against anybody this season except West ham, Ajax. That is it. We could have easily lost against pool, forest, Fulham, palace.
