On the one hand, you guys had by far the best team in the league last season, so you "need" to upgrade the least out of the top teams, just mere tweaks and young players. However, you lot need to be careful not to fall into the Man City trap of winning the league, buying sh*te players then barely challenging if at all the next season.

At the moment no one has really added to themselves yet to worry you, but with Arsenal finally getting their act together by getting a decent keeper and us hopefully getting some new players (Depay and hopefully Ramos and Schneiderlin), plus an extra year of getting to know Louis' tactics, there will be some threat. At the minute though, there really isn't much of a need to panic as some of you are on here. We have more of a right to be worried, considering we haven't been linked with any right backs and Valencia is looking to be our first choice there next season...  :face_palm:

It's members like you that make me enjoy having "opposition" posters on here.  At times I think this forum can get too caught up in a Chelsea Bubble that it's nice to have a perspective from the outside to let us know what others are thinking.

I don't know what's going to happen with the squad this year, who does? First, Cech going is a bit sh*t, really; especially when it's to the Woolwich Wanderers but if we replaced him with BEgovic I'd say that was a decent move by the club.  If we look at JT getting to the end of his time as a pro footballer, I think we really need to start looking there, and I'd personally like to see a Youth Team player being used knowing that if they don't cut it we'll probably go out for someone like Varane next season.

In the centre, if we continue to play 4-2-3-1 I don't expect us to make too many big signings as Cesc and Matic is solid and a big signing is obviously going to want game time immediately.  If we did sign someone in that area, like Pogba for example, then I think that forces Fabregas to a more central AM role.  Personally, I doubt we'll do that as I think Jose likes having Cesc carry the ball forward from deeper, knowing that he has an option of pushing him further forward later in a game if needed.  I'm also not sure we'll see a monumental change in formation to accommodate another player like Pogba.

Attacking mids is where it starts getting interesting.  I think Moses is getting sold, and we'll use the 8Mill from him to fund something else.  The left Wing is Hazard's and that's not going to change.  Center and Right is where it gets very interesting. Do we try and continue with Oscar as the #10?  Do we sign a RW and shift Willian into the #10 role?  If we do that, I think it's the end for Oscar.  Then what about Ramires and Cuadrado?  I think Ramires is very versatile, and can play centrally, and deeper, or out on the right if we really are setting up for counter attacking football.  However, can we keep him happy?  Cuadrado....jury is still out, but I think it was a hasty purchase by the club and he's not done too much to make me think that this is anything other than a bad fit.

Strikers.  Costa will be our main man, but we know of his dodgy hamstring, and wild temperament so who knows if we'll get a full season out of him?  Remy is more than capable as a back up, and I like him as a player (can even play out on the right if needed).  Then there is the most expensive loan player ever, but hey at least Falcao is only a loan, and if he's 3rd choice, then I think that's a pretty solid front 3.

So, in essence, I don't think we need to strengthen too many areas.  Maybe right wing and a Left Back should Luis want away

Not looking good this window so far, just missed Turan to Barca , Costa to Byern, Antoine Griezmann looking unlikely....sorry to be a pessimist but we looked pathetic in Europe, Paris outplayed us in both legs even with 10 men and we saw what Barca did to them, we are way off the pace. Winning the epl with the current competition isn't as big an achievement as it was before, used to be that the last four in the CL was 3 English teams and we only ever feared getting another English team, what went wrong?? We need to buy and buy big, if we get fines so be it City can cope so can Roman, only Man U is a big enough brand to be able to spend like real and Barca can

I feel the same way about our CL campaign this previous season, but I'm glad we missed out on both. Neither player will improve their respective clubs so we haven't got much to worry about, Costa will probably played as a wing back by Pep and Turan will be a sub. I think with the Turan and Costa rumours, it indicates that we're in the market and actively looking for a right winger. There are still quality players in the market which includes Griezmann and Pogba, and if we want to go a lower quality but still a good option, there are others like Nabil Fekir.

It's not about spending big, it's about identifying the right options and choosing to invest in them. We need to look at both short term and long term goals. We've done well previously with signings such as Costa and Matic, we identified weaknesses in key areas and addressed them. We're still a few players away from being complete, but we're getting there.

I get the feeling it's going to be Raheem Sterling.

I don't doubt that he's a good player, but paying 50 million for him is ridiculous when someone like Griezmann's release clause is 35mil.

It's Begovic, hardly big news, he''s just trying to generate traffic on his twitter mentions. What a twat  :face_palm:

It wasnt even Begovic, it was Jose signing a new contract. Beasley says no Pogba, no Griezmann. Although he's a massive knob, he has inside info directly from Mourinhos mouth. We wont be signing Pogba or Griezmann

I agree 50 is a lot, but taking into consideration sterling's age and potential, does anyone really feel it will be a bad signing, especially after what he's done at an average team like Liverpool? He would be an upgrade on cuadrado and willian.

I've read several places Griezmann's release clause is £43mil, but we would have to also pay huge taxes if we trigger it. Regardless of price I still think Sterling would be a better fit for us, his overall game is better (passing, dribbling and creating chances). Griezmann is more a poacher and also played as a striker alot more then a winger, wich you can see here : http://www.whoscored.com/Players/80241
