Dont think he would come in for one of the attackers, i read it is mainly left back cover. Did well for Burnley further forward last season though.

But a backup left back that has had more output than one of your wingers over the last 7 seasons really says everything.

That would be smart business I could get behind. Fair prices, good quality backups for Chilwell and Reece who can play full back and wingback. Hopefully those are true and we get them done.

I suspect, looking at much of the recent news, that we will be signing very few, because reading between the lines we're too cheap.

Another potentially cheap option would be Emmanuel Dennis from Watford. I really liked the look of him last season.

We weren't signing the beat players in the world from the off, the first season we were signing the likes of Damien Duff, Glen Johnston, Geremi, Smertin, Cole. The biggest one was Maka

The only thing that's changed is now more clubs have the financial clout and we are not top tier in that bracket now.

 

I clearly remember finishing second though in Roman's first season with these 'second-rate' players.

And finishing above 'the likes of United' who we couldn't 'sign guys over'.

I still maintain that those signings were of better quailty than we're likely to sign in this window.

Just read this morning in the Spanish newspapers that Napoli's Koulibaly has been offered to Barcelona by his agent for less than 20M. Barcelona very interested, Juventus as well, even more interested than Barcelona. Actually if you visit Juventuz, they all predict next season's lineup with Koulibaly and Bremer as the two CBs.

I know it's probably five or six years too late now and he's just turned 31, too, but I truly believe he still got at least two top seasons in his tank and Chelsea should be in for him. There is nothing to lose for 17-18M and he brings tons of experience, too. Definitely a better defender than Ake and a better choice IMHO.

Although you make a fair point, we should probably leave that alone as it will make way nicely for De Ligt, if there is any truth to Juve wanting Koulibaly (Napoli manager said he will resign if they sell him btw) then leave them to it, as it makes agreeing a deal easier for our main man.

De ligt wont cost that much, we' will offset the fee with an exchange, probably Pulisic...............
