Same, he has been fantastic in all but 2 or 3 games. Hazard has been too up and down in his form in my opinion, sometimes he's fantastic, sometimes he's off his game.

Oscar was carrying the team for the first month or two, then Hazard took charge and carried the team but he's been off the boil for a while now. It looks as though Matic has become the key player. Azpi has been solid throughout of course.

Hehehe, well it's a bit of an exaggeration, but he was our most consistent goalscorer, and we were relying on him more than other players.

Dave is my player of the year. If we get shaw and he moves back to RB, we will have a scary attack from our full backs

Lets get a hold of ourselves here. Dave is a great player, one of the best fullbacks in the league, but he's not top 3 or even top 5 in the world. Lahm, Alba, Zabaleta, Alaba and Felipe Luis are all better than him. Not to say he couldnt go on to be one of the best in the world, but at the minute he isnt quite at that level

 i think he's doing pretty well for someone playing out of position, and he's playing ahead of Ashley Cole 'the ex best left back in the world'.

I'm not debating that at all, there are very few players that are playing so well at the minute, and I hope he continues to improve and becomes a world class full back

Dave's been great but I've said this before; fullback is the least important role on the pitch. You are covering an area on the pitch which is least dangerous and Dave isn't contributing in the attack as much as Cole in his best years. However he is doing a very good job. Great buy and a great lad.

I agree evissy but Dave is naturally a right back so that might be hampering he's attacking play out on the left. Top player

I disagree with many of you! Based on this season he's been as good as any left back in Europe. A left backs primary role is to defend. He's an absolute hound! His passing from the back has also been very accurate and intelligent. I think its a crime he wasn't in the PFA team of the season. Luke sure (no pun) has put in some brilliant performances yet over the course of the season Dave has been a much better defender imo. I think people need to get off of the likes of Lahm or Alba's di*k for a minute and realise the truth. Judging him based on the role hes been given by JM no player has worked harder than Dave this season..

Jordi Alba is a very good left back. He's not quite as good defensively as say Ashley Cole, but with the ball he's spectacular, provides a massive overlapping threat and can deliver a mean cross. He's a very modern fullback in terms of his playstyle, but if you don't rate him you're deluded

The idea that a fullback's primary role is to defend is also a very weak one. A defensive fullback with little attacking capability will cost a team just as many points over the course of season as one who is a great attacker but defensively poor.

With teams relying on an expansive and creative counter attacks a modern fullback needs to be capable at both ends of the pitch.

As an attacking wing back he's great. For the reasons you've stated above. His pace saves him alot of times.

 

I think playing for Barcelona benefits him quite alot as they keep the ball in a way he doesnt have to defend as much. He even scores the odd important goal for them.

 

I just dont think he's anywhere near the top 5 full backs in the world however.

Its also bollocks, full back is one of the most important positions against the most top teams with their pace and power. Just look at Real if we did get to the final, Bale and Ronaldo are their two most attacking players, I think our full bakcs could be pretty important then.
