We can't keep both realistically. But despite all that Cech has done for us, we have to be looking towards the future. I'd choose Courtois as he has performed better this season in terms of most clean sheets and has been tested against the likes of Messi, Ronaldo, Benzema and Bale on several occasions.

Sorry for the late reply. Having two top keepers ai.t excactly a problem. All I'm saying is courtois is a top keeper and he has to be giving he's chance just like cech was giving he's. All good thinks come to an end and for me courtios is the furture. As good as cech is he does make mistakes. Like I said before I can't really say anymore on the topic. So please don't mail back and change what I've said like you have in previous replys. If you want to miss out on a world class keeper that's your call I certainly don't

Cech must be reading this thread, as soon as we questioned him, he came up with a match winning performance. Lets have both of them next season to battle it out.

He's also a terrible defender.

Cech as usual saved our bacon. How some of you question him and want to see him gone is just crazy to me.

I think they jumped the boat signing him for so much money after 1 good season. We have got zouma for a 3rd of the price and he looks the better player.

He's still a brilliant goalkeeper and club legend, of that there is no question, but I still think his performances are too sporadic at times. There are quite a few occasions where he has been beaten at his near post more often than he should be, and times when his reluctance to collect balls is questionable. I still believe we should bring Courtois back to battle it out with Cech next season. People will praise Cech for a good performance, but still forget about the bad/questionable ones. At the end of the day, last night should be bread & butter for a keeper of his experience. 

If Courtois is okay with signing a new contract and spending one more season on loan, than do that. If not, I think he's probably ready to take over now.

If he wants to be 1st choice for CFC he will have to battle it out with Cech (this will include long spells on the sideline)

 

He could sign a contract extension (stated in the above post) and go out on loan again - I doubt he will want to do this again though (only he knows best)

 

If he wants to leave for regular first team, he will most likely be used in some sort of deal for Costa.

 

With all that said, I do wish Courtois is our number 1 keeper in 2015

We signed him young and he has been the corner stone of our team for 10 years.

 

However, I still voted Courtois.

The lad looks a tank in the goal, he's fantastic, I've seen a decent bit of La Liga and he has been the standout for Athletico, not Turan, Costa or Koke.

 

Really dont want Pete to leave, Courtois is probably going to do another year on loan, but you have to decide on whether Sentiment or Future is what we want, I know I want the future. Cech always a modern legend but he would command a huge transfer fee also.

Inclined to agree with everybody else, Cech has been great for us, in the decade or so he's served CFC... He's been outstanding this season. However, players do age and maybe not next season but the following Courtois should be our first choice. 

 

Am I correct in believing Courtois got voted GK of the year in La Liga last season? Not bad for a lad that's only 21.. Also, he's Belgium's first choice, before Mignolet.. in the matches I've seen this season, Mignolet has been arguably the best keeper in the Premiership; great positioning, awareness, pulling off some fine saves. As I don't watch much foreign football, I've not seen much of Atletico play, so couldn't comment on Courtois' performances, I'm just going on hearsay, everybody seems to be raving about him.. hopefully get to see what all the fuss is about during the World Cup.

There is more to this than pure talent, I think Courtois will make 90% the decision for us. I can see him coming back here for Pre Season and having a go in some matches. He may decide to stay based on promises of first team football, he may want another loan.

 

However the big thing standing over him is his contract, He has 2 years left on his current contract, if he signs an extension (as has been reported), we have no problem whatever he wants can happen. If he doesnt we have our hand forced, we will have to make a decision THIS summer. Sell or Play. We will not risk losing resale value waiting until next year to make the decision, My thoughts are in this situation Big Pete will move on, but ideally he will sign a new contract, we'll allow him to stay on loan at Athletico for another 1-2 years, greasing our move for Costa and retain Cech until the end of his contract. He'll them come in at 24/5 and be automatic first choice.

Who? Sunderland fans credit him with saving them from relegation last season and he has been good for Liverpool this season. I can't think of 5 in the Premier League that are better than him.
