Lukaku to Everton

Featured Replies

interesting stats but must also be considered if Lukaku has such good minutes per goal ratio then why isn't he playing more minutes at West Brom?

To be fair to him, I don't think Fergie utilises him as a central striker very often.

It's not just that though, I've never genuinely gotten the hype for Welbeck much at all. My United friends bang on about his build up play and other attributes, but I just don't see it; his main issue seems to be finishing. Extremely bad for a striker, I can't remember how many one on ones and chances in the box that he's wasted just in this season. It may improve with age but at the moment he simply doesn't have the composure to constantly tuck away a chance. He's a hard worker and is very good at pressing the opposing centre backs, I'll give him that.

I don't think West Brom want to rely on him since he isn't their player.  They can't work their squad around someone who could leave at any moment.  He's just reinforcements there and always will be unless they actually bought him.  He's at 13 league goals and 2 assists as a teenage loan, playing systematic rotation with their other strikers.  He's outscored Rooney, Dzeko, Walcott, Defoe, Aguero, Tevez and Podolski to name a few.  He's almost level with Ba and Michu.  The players behind him have been dealing with rotation and other setbacks to their opportunities to score (like Rooney being second fiddle to RVP) - but he's outperformed everyone on goals to minutes, including RVP and Suarez.  I don't know what else you could ask from a loan player.

I truly hope he gets a shot here next season.  We don't need to spend £50m on Falcao or some other outrageous figure on Cavani when Lukaku has surpassed all expectations this season.  We paid £13m for him remember.  Its taken one season of consistent game time to refine his art to the Prem, and I didn't even expect that.  Remember how raw he looked under those cameos for AVB?  Put him in front of Mata and Hazard and I think our forward line will be something fierce.  We need investment in central midfield.  Ba and Lukaku are two excellent primary strikers, considering our system only plays 1 at a time.  The only complaint is we'd lack diversity with those two, and an Aguero or Suarez sort of player would be nice to add to our arsenal - but it isn't paramount.  Our problem isn't scoring goals or creating chances any more.  We need the players to help us dominate games, protect the defence and allow Mata and Hazard to work their magic and provide for our strikers.

West Brom manager Steve Clarke has dismissed suggestions on-loan forward Romelu Lukaku will join Swansea next year.

Lukaku has had an outstanding campaign since joining the Baggies on loan from Chelsea.

The 19-year-old has scored 13 Premier League goals, at an average of just over one in every two games and given the opportunity, Clarke would love to have him back at The Hawthorns next season.
Yet the issue is complicated.

For with a new coach due to be installed at Stamford Bridge in the summer, it is not known whether Lukaku will be available.

In addition, there have been suggestions the lure of European football might be enough to lure Lukaku to Swansea, who qualified for the Europa League thanks to their Capital One Cup success over Bradford in February.

Evidently, it is not a theory Clarke is willing to go along with.
'There is nothing in it,' said the Baggies chief.
'It is idle gossip - it's lazy.
'I read in the press he's going to Swansea - but I would be very surprised if he ends up there.'

Good business.

I'm watching a feed of the game 'live' and he is giving Southampton the runaround. He reminds me of Drogba in his first season at Marseille to the extent I can confidently say in two years time he will be leading our front line in the same way that The Drog burst on the Premiership scene.

We indeed have a legend on our hands if the kid improves like the greatest striker in our history !

played a part in each of Chelsea's goals today.  Assisted the first, scored the second, and assisted the third.

I hope he's here next season

How did Osgood get involved in this conversation?

please God we bring him into the first team squad next season; i don't think i could cope with another year of watching him stroking the ball home from West Brom while we have to put up with Torres playing like a zombie

Watching MOTD, I can't for the life of me understand why we have such a beast doing the biz for West brom and we have a desert(drought) finished man killing us, each passing game. Christ!

rvp hat trick will have put him back top, however still fantastic from lukaku.

RVP 2673 / 23 = 116.21

Lukaku  1638 / 14 = 117

39 seconds between them.
