March 1, 201610 yr I think it's because of how often it is happening. If it was one performance like this every so often, i think people wouldn't complain, but it seem's like every single time he plays that he put's in this kind of performance now. I can accept poor form but it's got to be more than that now, no top player stays out of form for this long. It's almost been a full season of poor form from him. I know what you mean. I don't know what it's down to but I can't believe he's forcing a move or some of the other stuff he gets accused of, he wouldn't have signed a new contract only to want out so soon after. I genuinely feel being fed up of the kickings he gets plays a big part, I'd imagine for a player of his quality with the spotlight always on you it would be infuriating to get kicked constantly with refs waving play on half the time and turning blind eye completely when its inside the box. I also think people are way too fixated with his goal statistics, he's not Messi and the expectations to score 20 goals a season when he's more of a creator could get to him. For me he's still our player, still our best player by a distance and he's got plenty of time on his contract. Unless the club knows for sure he wants he's one of the players we should be building the team around and looking to get the most out of.

I agree with the kickings stuff but goal statistics don't matter. Players go through barren runs but as long as you're doing the right things, making the right runs, then eventually it comes back. He's doing the opposite. He's not looking for the ball, he's not putting his hand up, he's hiding.
March 1, 201610 yr As has been said the goals and stuff aren't really the issue its the general way he's playing that's night and day from what we seen last season. He doesn't look to shoot anymore but instead slows down play and looks for a square pass and he doesn't take on his man nearly as much as he did last season either. It's like he doesn't want to go full throttle, maybe it's fear of injury before the euros or wanting to be somewhere else.....I don't know which. It's not a loss of form, this is long term now.
March 2, 201610 yr I know what you mean. Unless the club knows for sure he wants he's one of the players we should be building the team around and looking to get the most out of. trouble is, he brings it on himself. He draws fouls constantly, which is great for the team but results in him being kicked more than he should. He could adapt his game if it was such an issue. Obviously he cant eliminate it completely, but he could reduce it. Also, if he rode more challenges rather than going down then defenders may be less inclined to dive in as they would see that it doesnt stop him. But that's just theories, I dont know if it would actually help, or if that is the reason for his bad form. Either way, he's got to get over it or get out
March 2, 201610 yr Even when he is in good positions around the box or even inside the box he is constantly looking for a pass rather than a chance to shoot. In my opinion this is one of the things that will stop him ever being on the level of Ronaldo or Messi and even the level of Neymar or Bale.
March 2, 201610 yr All of us a are still waiting for the old Hazard to show up, 2/3 of the season gone. Talent alone in football is not enough, a certain Mario Balotelli is proof to that. After a brilliant start of his career and being hailed as a massive talent, Balotelli slipped into mediocrity due to his attitude on and off the pitch Hope it doesn't happen to Hazard but the warning signs are there. We are finding excuses every game for Haz but to me the other ingredients of success besides talent ( desire, drive, effort, mental strength ) are nowhere to be seen in Hazard this season. I truly hope he rediscover those, otherwise a few years down the line and people could still be waiting for the old Hazard to show up. Much like Balotelli today...
March 2, 201610 yr Balotelli was grossly overrated as a "talent" from day one because of his physical attributes. Poor comparison.
March 2, 201610 yr I don't think his heart is in it anymore, he's already daydreaming about playing in sunny Madrid or lovely Paris. I would love to see him get back to his best, he is easily the best player in our ranks but he's just not going to do it here. The new manager may be able to convince him otherwise but at the minute I'm just waiting to see him leave, which is a sad ending to what was a really promising Chelsea career. Perhaps Mourinho has put him under too much pressure, declaring him on the same level as the likes of Messi and Ronaldo. He's never been the same since then.
March 2, 201610 yr Balotelli was grossly overrated as a "talent" from day one because of his physical attributes. Poor comparison. I was making the point that other " talents " faded away and never recovered while people were still waiting and expecting for them to come back to their initial form. and that talent alone is not enough in modern football to be successful or consistent. Balotelli is not the only example. you might not agree with me but in my opinion Hazard this season has no drive, desire and puts minimal effort and the result is a prolonged "out of form" that is worrying, . I just hope he rediscovers all those things that made him so great last season, he is too good to be performing at the poor level he is performing now for such a long time.
March 2, 201610 yr I know that Real's transfer policy rarely makes sense, but he's not good enough on current form to make their first eleven, let alone bench with Isco already as their backup AM. Balotelli was never that good imo bar that one game against Germany so I think thats an unfair comparison.
March 2, 201610 yr I guess we'll find out what Hazard really wants this summer, but it's pretty clear he wants out. Speaking about PSG, Zidane, etc. He's gone.
March 2, 201610 yr It’s not so much if he wants out I mean Real are a bigger club than we are and has far more lure than we do however if you wanted that then go and earn it by proving you are the best. Ronaldo didn’t go to sh*t when he was wanting to go to Madrid, he was still putting in great displays for United. It’s speculation in any case none of us know what the issue is but I’d hope it’s sorted one way or another in time for next season.
March 2, 201610 yr At least Hazard didn't go for a hamburger during the game :D http://deredactie.be/cm/vrtnieuws.english/sports/1.1082134 I wonder how he will be playing at Euro 2016 in a couple of months...
March 2, 201610 yr You can't say his displays are not a vast improvement on the start of the season, , his pace is back, as shown by some of the balls he chased and caught, but the correct diagnosos is he has become shot shy, but Fabregas is the "puppet-master" and we all want the scoring Hazard back, its that or £80 million in the coffers?

I was going to ask if he should worry about his Belgium place. But then I realised that despite having less league goals than Kennedy, this season Hazard has scored 4 goals in 5 starts for Belgium in ECQ games.

I disagree. He still looks sluggish to me and that is backed up by the fact that he just doesn't pull away from defenders like he used to. He used to go by them for fun - just don't see him do it now, even average defenders like Norwich last night.
March 2, 201610 yr I watched him chase a ball into the corner at full speed, his pace is there, his will to, well maybe not..
March 2, 201610 yr I watched him chase a ball into the corner at full speed, his pace is there, his will to, well maybe not.. But as soon as he picks the ball up, he doesn't seem to want to do anything. The work rate off the ball is still there, but on the ball not so much.
March 2, 201610 yr If we can get 80+ mill for him, sell him to PSG, get Verratti and Varanne with the money.
March 3, 201610 yr If we can get 80+ mill for him, sell him to PSG, get Verratti and Varanne with the money. I highly doubt any club including PSG will pay for him 80mil.
March 3, 201610 yr Id take 60 for him right now. No doubt he is worth far more when he is on form, but the last thing we need is another poor season from him next year, then being lumbered with him until the end of his contract, or selling him on the cheap. 60 is more than enough to get at least 1 world class replacement in
March 3, 201610 yr for his age i would say 60 is fair. i don't really see him getting any better, especially not as a goal scorer (may eat my words if he leaves, but hope i don't) so anything between 60-70 we should be happy with.
March 3, 201610 yr When he was standing at the edge of the box on tuesday late in the game, with one defender to go at and beat for the shot....and he did NOTHING and ended up passing it backwards and eventually losing the ball...I almost broke my remote. It is simply a mental breakdown at this point. He is either not willing to risk himself because he wants to move away, or he has lost so much confidence that he simply refuses to have a run at folks. He seems to be stapled in to the first team and given every opportunity to succeed, so I can't fathom it is a confidence issue. Unfortunately I think he just doesn't want to be here.
March 3, 201610 yr Im so use to seeing him not doing anything for us now im not too bothered if he was to go. Sell him to psg in a deal which includes Verratti.
