Thank You Mr Roman Abramovich

While im grateful for all of the good things hes done, and there are many, this doesn't erase the treatment of carlo, of ranieri, of butch or of robbie. It doesn't erase the hiring of benitez either.

I just hope he lets jose get on with it.

Agree g3.7.

He has to prove that this time is going to be different. I'm sure nobody will be thanking him if JM is sacked in 15 months time.

I think Roman is taking the Salvador Dali train of thought. Dali filled his mouth with stones, purely for the enjoyment and pleasure of taking them out 24 hours later. I like to think Mr Abramovich employed the FSW in order to make the joy of our special one coming back all the greater. Well done comrade, fine psychological tact there!

Bit of a twisted logic there perhaps, but who am I to argue, there could very well be something in it.

I don't feel like thanking Abramovich after what he has made me suffer, I don't feel like thanking him after he sacked in his time here two or three good men who could, given time have taken the club forward and were visibly doing decent jobs.

Because he made another big mistake in bringing in Benitez, a man that had we all rolled over and got behind could well still be in the job next season and who's results

after fifteen or so games should have made him the first Interim not to make seasons end, because he disregarded the thoughts of the fans to appoint him and because he had an itchy finger to sack the man who forced his hand by winning the CL and he just (for me) didn't like to have his hand forced so waited for his opportunity and took it far far too soon.

I will say I am happy that he has admitted one of his mistakes (his first of many) and brought back the man who being honest is the best we've had, the man who fits Chelsea as Robbie did somehow and without having been a player, the man who although has his faults, is one of the best around and wil command respect from whatever players we have or come in, a man who (like Robbie and Carlo for me) you can support like you do the players.

I can't kiss his arse for it as his disrespect of people doesn't deserve it even though the argument for us now having the best will be used in his defense.

So for me its well done Roman for actually having enough humility to admit your first mistake was your biggest but I hope you have learned and believe you saw when you swapped Benitez for Robbie that you really are prone to big mistakes.

Now ffs let him do his job this time through good times and bad.

Spot on as always, Chippy.

After the lowest point he gave us last season by sacking Robbie and then appointing Rafa he has gone on his way to repairing the cracks by hiring Jose.

I may not be able to forgive and forget what Roman did to our club legend and club as a whole last season but I can now move on.

This will show Romans true colours now, as we all know he loves a change, so when things ain't going perfect (Which they won't straight away) we'll see what he does then regarding keeping him on, as we all know as well that Jose is now probably the greatest manager out there with SAF out of the picture!

Normal service has been resumed! Thank f**k for that!!!   :JC_doubleup:

I sincerely hope we will be giving Roman's name as much of an outing as Jose's when it comes to the singing at the UEFA SuperCup, but particularly at the first league game at the Bridge. Sing their names like we've never sung before!

It will be a long time before I feel like singing RA's name.

i wont be gushing with praise for roman, i think his decisions last season were disgusting and went against everything the fans wanted and believed in. i am happy and grateful that Jose is back, obviously, but i wouldnt say roman is a great owner. he puts in a lot of money but he balances that by not giving a f**k about the fans, so i would question whether he does what he does for the club or for himself. at least he has done one thing i never thought he would do and re-hired Jose, who's sacking was his 2nd biggest mistake of his ownership. (biggest being hiring FSW, 3rd biggest being sacking a club legend just months after the champs league/cup double)

Thanks Roman. And erm TORRES has scored some important goals for us, the best being against Barcelona when even the referee could not cheat in that one and add on more injury time so they could score TWO goals. How did that feel ?Welcome home José and keep Fernando, who in my opinion will really come good.

New interview with Desailly and some interesting quotes on Roman. Great to hear, he's still only 47 so expect him to be with us a while!

“That year we were supposed to win the title but Arsenal went the entire season without losing. But the winning mentality was set, it was there. (Roman) Abramovich was there – it just needed a different manager.

“I was there in 2004 but I left before Mourinho arrived – I was already 35.”

Asked how it felt to be part of a club when one of the world’s richest men buys it, he said: “For us players money didn’t count really. You know I had (Silvio) Berlusconi before. Abramovich-Berlusconi was Coca Cola-Pepsi Cola. And there was Bernard Tapie (at Marseille).

“For us what was important was whether the chairman had the passion for the game. Whether he was able to bring a real unity internally. Abramovich did.

“I asked him why (he was so passionate) and he said to me ‘my reason for life is football’. Yes. A business deal does not give him the same excitement as when Chelsea win or lose.

“It’s really something special. He grew up with football and you can see that he’s really passionate about it. It’s not an ego thing.

“He’s never given an interview to any journalist. He sees the game, he takes his plane to wherever the team goes. He goes to the African Cup of Nations and watches various other matches that nobody knows about.

“He’s a real passionate man when it comes to football and that’s why Chelsea have succeeded. And he also brought luck with his passion.

“You remove Andre (Villas-Boas) or (Carlo) Ancelotti that nobody is expecting – and you bring in (Roberto) Di Matteo and you win the Champions League.

“And you remove him and everybody says ‘no’ and you bring in a different face that nobody likes (Rafa Benitez) and you win the Europa League. He studied the game very well and no journalist has noticed. He’s a very passionate man.”

Roman is one of us. He's got a bit more cash, but he's just as passionate about the club as we are. You can't say that about many other club owners.

Apparently the city owner wasn't even at the Barca game that sums it up for me. Biggest game for years and he couldn't be arsed going

They go to plenty of games, who knows the circumstances.

I think the Citys owners at more league games than Roman in all honesty.

These guys can't all attend the games, they are billionairs and have plenty of buisness they need to attend to daily.

I'd imagine they would love nothing more than go to every game they could.

Anyway it's great to see here we are in March top of the table and one foot in the Last 16 of the CL.

Cheers Roman.

Do they show the empt seat if not in attendance because they do when roman ain't at a game. How do you know the city owner's are at more games out of interest

Just on the basis that they show the owners mugs at least once if they're in attendance during home matches. I dont see Roman all that much but usually see city's owners at least once a month
