Love the African music to that video. I just watched the whole thing for that music lol

with so many people on here questioning the character and mentality of our squad, I think Mikel is one to hang onto. he is a serial winner and clearly has the right mentality having been around winners for so long.

Also, despite the fact he is rarely first choice these days, has he ever looked out of shape like costa was at the start of the season? I think he is a positive role model in our squad and we should keep him around for a while longer

The fact that he can come in and play at a consistent level, despite not featuring for weeks, is remarkable and something worth holding on to.

 

Also Turkey is where careers go to die, I'm sure he can do better than that. 

I reckon he'd make a great Barcelona centre back. Definitely shouldn't leave though, if the worst happens and he does I hope he comes to Leicester. Supporting Chelsea/being a TSE member without Mikel would be about 5% as much fun.

Mikel was pretty tremendous for Nigeria in the two friendlies. Also interesting to see all attacking play go through Mikel... Begs to question why can't he do the same for Chelsea?

If Mikel is not yet 30 years of age, dont read anything into him joining an average team like Besiktas. He won't go except they will pay him double of what he earns here.

Mikel doesn't really strike me as the sort of player who would be particularly affected by age; if anything he should get better really as his understanding of the game and decision-making improves.

 

The things which start to fade with age - physicality, pace, mobility, injury-proneness have never really been things that Mikel relied on or suffered from. Unless he just loses interest in the sport entirely or gets a massive injury I see no reason why he should deteriorate at all. I'm still holding out hope for his evolution into the black Pirlo.

It's more of irrationality than logic.

Mikel has been a good servant and decent squad member. 

 

But now might just be the time for him to move on. He is still a handy squad player, but with the emergence of RLC I just can't see him getting many games and it would be fairer on him to go somewhere he can get proper game-time. Think we have come to an end of an era with Cech, Lamps, Ash & Drogba all gone with JT likely to be soon and I would now include Mikel in that. We're building for the future and I just don't see Mikel figuring in that.

Mikel was playing well.  Who knew what a difference passing forwards could make.

If i read rumors about Mikel leaving chelsea´it makes me feel kinda sad but i he really proofed in his appearances that he is good and for sure better than fabregas so please Jose, let him play!!!

As a specialist defensive midfielder he is quite poor at being both defensive and also a midfielder.

I don't think he brings anything at all to the team.
