Man of the Match for Man Utd and deservedly so.  Stifled west Ham's attacks and launched attacks of his own while allowing Pogba to roam almost freely further up front.  Just like his form in 2014.  The Board deserves a public firing for strengthening Man Utd and I strongly feel this is the key jigsaw piece that Mourinho has acquired to challenge for the title.

Admittedly, we could have done without him going to Man Ure. I know us supporters didn't want it and don't suppose Conte was over the moon either. But sure, he started well against a pants West Ham side. He should soon revert to form where he is inconsistent and in many games looks bang average and then all the fuss will die down.

Sky sports had a poll after the game asking if he is the best DM in the league. You won't get a level headed assessment on his performance for  while.

That's a bit strong. Matic is decent but he's not world class and it's clear we got the best years of him going by his form over the past 3/4 seasons. 

Selling him or anyone to a rival is daft and that's the issue (well that and selling players when we have no cover!). I'd argue and say selling Cech who was world class to Arsenal was worse.

Relax everyone. He did nothing special. Wait for a few games before deciding how this is going to work out.

Looked impressive but West H*m didn't exactly expose Matic's weaknesse, they failed to expose the space in behind the Pogba/Matic pivot (United played 4-2-3-1, the same formation as us with Mourinho) and failed to press him when in possession. Still think it was a monumental f**k up letting him go but it will be interesting to see how United fans opinion of him change when they see the worst of him.

It's not about him being world class it's about a team working as a unit and if Jose gets him playing in team as one cohesive unit he will be very impressive

I agree. Matic doesn't have to be WC. He just has to let Pogba become WC by freeing Pogba's defensive duties

I watched the game and it was Man Utd being more impressive than West Ham being poor.  Give credit where it's due.  Utd's movement was top class.

I have the opposite view.  I believe this move has galvanized Matic and he will be a tremendous asset to Mourinho throughout the entire season.  This will hurt us a hell of a lot.

All transfers are a gamble. This one currently looks to have paid off for Man Ure but it is VERY early days. Thought I was a pessimist but I'm clearly not in your league!

Wait till Bakayoko gets up and going, Matic will be a distant hazy memory.

But why do we make things so easy, we could have drawn this out till the end of the window, there seems to be a real lack of tactical nouse in the way we do business.

if a team has a lack of offensive power to cause much of a threat, then of course utd would look impressive. lanzini and antonio are a big miss for west ham, but west ham were poor. i would rather focus the next 4/5 games to garner any kind of analysis of how good utd really are. i remember liverpool and arsenal looking impressive early on last season, but then they went off the boil. having one impressive game at home against a weakened west ham is no gage of how good utd will be.

That does not deny the fact that Man Utd played imrpressively.  Whether they continue to do so is another matter altogether.  Be objective.

That's 3 games as a United player for Matic, Super Cup, he started and finished while Herrera got subbed off. Two PL games Herrera was on the bench while Matic started.

So clearly, I knew all three of Herrera, Matic and more importantly Mourinho than you do.

He's doing what he does best, ball recycling and tackling. Occasionally, he ventures forward. 

Good in a possession oriented team which Utd are at the moment so his deficiencies are being masked somewhat.
