Seems to me we're intent on repeating mistakes of the past after a title winning season, difference been we're making good signings of course but we don't seem to care about having an actual squad with depth. If Matic is going why the hell was Chalobah sold? 

It will be interesting to see the effect that Matic will have on Pogba and whether it will release Pogba in more of an attacking sense. I hope it doesn't and Pogba is still shackled down by defensive duties.

I'm sure I heard Chalobah rejected the contract offer? I could be wrong. Did he also only have a year left on his contract?

What you chatting, £40m in todays market is sod all, esp for an established player like matic, it looks like we will end up with the bayern guy on loan and some more Penny's in the pot which is absolutely useless if we don't spend it, there is also not many players better than matic who we can buy quickly ready to go into a very busy season ahead. If we don't spend big and get some class in (4 players imo) then kiss the league goodbye and keep your fingers crossed we end up in the top 4

I know what you are saying, but i think if we sell Matic to Manyoo for £40m, that means he will be in the first team every week, as Jose's boy so to speak, it won't matter how bad he plays, he will have to stay with him, he's Joses boy. And we all know how much Matic can go missing in a lot of games. Remember the Spuds game away in early 2016, the way Matic played that game i wouldn't of given you 40pence for him. Last season he played next to the best player in the league, which has helped Matic look half decent again, with the help of that goal he scored against spuds at wembley in the semi.

What we must do is make sure we improve on Matic with a replacement. which Baka could be, time will tell.

i am not worried about bringing in a few more players close to the season because most of them would have had pre-season and will at least be up to fitness. most players worth their salt know what their job is and how to stick to tactics.

Few people seem to worrying a bit too much IMO It's 30th July, not 30th August. We still have a month to bring in reinforcements 

 

We've made some very good signings so far, Rudiger, Bakayoko and Morata. Expect us to bring in 3-4 more.

 

Is there a Chelsea fan that saw Matic play outside his first season that actually thought he played well? My Man U fan of an uncle seemed to have some red tinted contacts...

 

He has been really poor outside that first season but in a 3 man mid he will be far more useful as the DM if he can concentrate on shielding the back 4 and passing on to more creative players. That's probably what he'll be asked to do at United thus some of us are disappointed he's gone to them. If we were selling them someone useless there'd be 100% support

Matic will play alongside Herrera in the 4-2-3-1. Pogba will play as a #10 behind Lukaku

I really don't get selling him to United. I'd rather let him rot in the reserves than essentially solving a huge problem for United just days before the seasons starts.

All the while we have two fit midfielders and a third one who's not even fit and will have had no pre-season behind him once he is fit enough to play.
Horrendous planning all around and i bet it comes back and bites us in the arse soon enough.

The fan's moaning about selling matic are the same one's who slated him last two seasons and wonder why he wants to leave and go to united to prove a point. LOL Matic will dominate again at united just have this feeling he will rediscover his form under Jose.

Is Bakayoko not the replacement? I admit I don't have much background on this player but he's four years younger than Matic.

He is, but even still we only have three central midfielders, not including kids.  And as it stands right now we only have two as Baka is injured.

Chalobah will never be Chelsea quality.

Surely this confirms we are in for another midfielder. Conte is a brave guy, he's pretty much overhauling the starting 11 even though we won the league last season.

First teamers Costa and Matic are gone. Alonso and Moses possibly to be replaced, so that's 4 different first teamers. I'm confident we will land Sandro and a RWB whatever Allegri is saying.

Plus our back three could look different with Rudiger and Christensen back.

It could either be absolutely brilliant or disastrous next season.

Better to be proactive than reactive. This is a crazy league and I think this is the best way to go.

Conte has to have a ready made midfielder in his back pocket ahead of selling Matic...please 

I rather we sold him to a foreign club for less, even 10-15M less. We will recoup some money, but it's unlikely we will use it to sign a better player, more likely a rotation player. United doesn't care about spending money, Jose gets a player he knows, and he doesn't care about after re-sell value or the next 3 years, it's all about this season. Anyway, it's done and hopefully we will use the money wisely.

Matic at Chelsea has hit a rut, he is guaranteed to make the match day squad and he puts in 5/6 out of 10 performances week in week out, his performances at United will follow a similar pattern. He will most likely have a excellent start to the season and once he has established himself, the performances will drop slightly with the odd outstanding game.

You think Matic wants to og because some fans slated him online? YEah thats not how it Works. Matic was absolute rubbish under Mourinho when he was here last and hasnt "dominated" since that City game. It was his Oscar vs Juve moment and was as good as it gets, the chance of him ever reproducing that are slim to none. Expect more of what we saw this year

We don't have a problem with Matic being sold. We are complaining because we are selling to a team that is expected to challenge us next season and we are selling another player before adding to the squad. Our squad is threadbare, which is being made worse when 3 of those players are injured / lacking fitness. The season is soon to begin and our squad is nowhere near ready to compete seriously for major titles.
