Zouma - If Kurt's Happy, I'm Happy!

Featured Replies

Pretty sure Essien had three seperate ligament injuries, two in his right and one in his left including at least one ACL rupture. Plus one of them included a couple of setbacks during recovery.

But the first time around he was out for pretty much 6 months and came back in decent form including the goal against Barca that we drew 1-1 (I think). So it's possible but it depends on the injury and the player's commitment to their rehab.

There has been a lot of depressing things going on this season at our club, but seeing a young talented guy robbed from continuing his rapid rise for chelsea and potentially place at Euro 2016 through sheer bad luck, is a real downer

You're so right. He's also so likeable and with a young wife and babies I hope he is able to fulfill his career.

As bad as we feared. Terrible news for him. Such a promising player and one of the positives in a depressing season.

Not good for the club either as we've not managed to get too many youngsters become a fixture of the side.

So it's back to Cahill and Terry. Shouldn't be as bad as it sounds. But our lack of pace at the back hasn't been helped by a lack of pace in midfield.

Such a downer all round.

Terrible news. I'm gutted for him but hope that his recovery goes well and is complete. We want to see him back next season wearing our badge and overriding again the best strikers of the PL.

absolutely gutted for Zouma, honestly i would test Miazga on the next match and see what he can do,we are gonna have to trust him,we cant play the same CB's for the rest of the season, hopefully he impresses, and forms a formidable partnership with zoomzoom when he comes back

poor chap

genuinely seemed like a great bloke on top of a really promising CB

ACL used to be career ending, still could prevent him from being the talent that his promising start to his career at CFC indicated

I think the surgery has improved over time, so here's hoping!

I doubt Miazga is match fit at the moment probably hasn't played since last November.

we are not going anywhere this season, lets play him into fitness and see what he can do

Thoughts and prayers go out to Zouma, just hope he doesnt rush back before the knee has fully healed. Was cringing when he stood up before getting on the stretcher- just needs to take his time and have good people around him.

He is still young and strong so hopefully will be back better than ever.

Sinking in as the worse possible news. If we were planning on letting Terry leave because he was no longer good enough, and Cahill was starting to look past his best, well now we've gone and lost Zouma for god knows how long, with doubts if he'll ever be back to his best.

That just leaves the American kid (and possibly Ivanovic - actually scratch that).

I think we might just need to recall all our loanee centre backs as we're going to need a few next season.

Get well soon Kurt, really hope this does not have a long term affect on you.

Given his style of play it is a legitimate concern for his long term future.

Here is some information about ACL tears in athletes. This doctor, who was referring to a basketball player, said the recovery is 9 to 12 months. I imagine there are varying degrees of tears though. It's interesting what he said about fatigue and ACL tears.

A more scientific explanation of ACL surgery. They cut off part of your hamstring and attach that to your knee :shok: As you can imagine, one possible side effect is weakening of the hamstring.

This video shows an MLS player representing Hondurus tearing both the ACL and PCL (posterior cruciate ligament). Click on the link at your own discretion. You've been warned.

And finally for a stupidity award, this guy tore his ACL celebrating :laugh2: Sports Darwinism at its best.

Gutted to hear the news, but if they're saying that he'll be sidelined for 6 months, than I'm optimistic about his recovery time and possible mobility afterwards.
