Zouma - If Kurt's Happy, I'm Happy!

Featured Replies

We don't see them in training everyday so maybe he is working harder than the rest?

Zouma is pretty much all potential right now, he flashes it sometimes and then you see why hes getting chances. Hopefully he continues to develop, he has a chance to be special. Kalas and Ake arent in the same universe potential wise, not even close. Especially Kalas who imo, is a very average talent. Relegation side/ Championship player at best.

Think he looked a bit shaky in pre season but he's looked good every time he's played during the season.

Don't understand how people can say kalas is better. Last pre season kalas had a few shaky pre season appearances in asia. Had a brilliant 90 mins against Liverpool, but now he is struggling to get on the bench for cologne.

I think zouma will forever have his technique questioned because of his physique, when actually fact he has a decent touch on him, and is also decent passer.

He might look like young jt, but who will? Jt, like Lamps and drogba will be irreplaceable.

I thought he had a great game last night and impressed me. A little too eager on occasions, but they were few and far between. I think he's come on a lot since joining the club and he's played very few games. I hope we see an even bigger improvement in his game in a year or two.

Done very well.

Looks quick for a big guy and is a monster in the air.

Improving with every game and that's all you can ask.

His best performance yet. Cleaned up after JT on a couple of occasions and looked better than ever with the ball at his feet. Physically he's on a different level from most young players.

He is a strong lad and wont be pushed off the ball easily, that's pretty good for a youngster.

Though I think he looks really shaky when he has the ball, he cant wait to get rid of it, that will improve in time I hope.

He has an obvious aerial threat. Been unlucky with headers recently, he must be banging them in for fun in training.

Need to keep getting minutes into him, because he has the attributes needed to become a real quality player.

If he doesn't get the game time though, progress could stall.

As is always the case with most defenders, he looked solid playing next to JT. Like I said before, his passing is actually surprisingly decent. Must have worked on it cause it was awful before.

I like him, he's a powerful defender, and has had some rather unfair criticism from some fans, he's only going to get better, I'm pleased that he's getting game time. Kalas is also very talented, it'll be interesting to see whether he stays at the Bridge or not next season. I don't see Ake as a centre back, I've been more impressed with him in midfield, we also have Omeruo out on loan, but I haven't been keeping up with his progress.

Nice article sent to me from friend

Kurt Zouma has praised Chelsea captain John Terry and "the best coach in the world" Jose Mourinho for making him a better defender

The 20-year-old made his full Premier League debut in Saturday's 2-0 victory over Newcastle - a win which put the Blues two points clear at the top of the table.

Zouma signed for Chelsea almost 12 months ago but remained on loan at former club St Etienne until the end of last season, linking up with his new Stamford Bridge team-mates ahead of the current campaign.

With Terry forming a strong central-defensive partnership with England international Gary Cahill, Zouma has had to be patient to make his mark on the league having been limited to mostly cup and Champions League appearances so far.

But the France Under-21 international looked right at home as he played alongside his skipper in the win over the Magpies and admits lining-up next to someone with the experience of Terry can only help his development.

"I'm very happy because it was my first start in the Premier League but I have to improve and we have to keep winning, but we won so for me that is the most important thing," he said.

"The manager said to me well done, but I have to continue because I have only played one game, but I have continue and if gives me a chance I have to continue to improve.

"I learn from John how to defend because it is not the same

He pushes me and says 'go, go go' - and I have to go

Yes he does the same in training every day

When we are on the pitch we have to work because when you train it is the same as when you play.

"He (Terry) helps me a lot, when the striker goes behind me, or when the striker drops back I have to follow, to keep depth, so helps me a lot

Gary Cahill is the same.

"I have learned from playing alongside John

It was the same when I was on the bench and I looked at John and Gary and I learned from both every time

So I am happy to play alongside both.

"I learned that the Premier League is not the same at the French League because there is more contact, tactically I learn a lot, tactically, technically and physically I learn from both of them."

Zouma, whose middle name is 'Happy', is certainly enjoying life with the league-leaders and praised Mourinho for also having an influence on his game.

"He helps me in every area

Defensively, tactically

For me he is the best coach in the world," Zouma said of the Portuguese

"I knew that we wanted to play well and to be top of the league

I was very happy to come here

I know that I have not played a lot but every day I have learned

When the coach gives me a chance I have to do my best."

Showed some brilliant reading of the game tonight in a lot of his interceptions but also was sold one of the most obvious dummies I've ever seen by Coutinho.

Only other comment is he turned his back a few times when standing up crosses or shots but otherwise I'm shocked at how good he has been so soon

The header he made in extra time from gerrard free kick was immense. Did very well considering the occasion, made a couple of errors. The first he recovered brilliantly, the second with coutinho, ivanovic really should have been in a better position to cover.

Getting better and better though, I would start him on Sunday.

Played very well and was key in keeping them out for 120 mins. Would be a terrible signal to send to drop him straight away for Cahill again.

Thought he had a very shaky start, completely mistimed that one header that almost sent Sterling through, and was fooled by Coutinho once early but he really grew into it and from the second half until the end i thought he was excellent. I would still be surprised if he starts against City though, Aguero would have punished us those two mistakes but all in all a good performance.

Think he gets another start vs. City? I wouldn't be surprised after how well he played tonight.

Did good but not good enough to completely drop Cahill, more importantly not enough to start him against City.
