February 7, 201610 yr Souness spoke alot of sense after the match. Basically said that there is nothing wrong with his performance levels and it makes no sense to get rid of him. Have to agree. He hasn't shown any signs of slowing down. Yeah he started badly but so did the whole team. He's performed well this season on whole. There was something in the telegraph today saying that Jose believed it was JT's las season at Chelsea. It could be that the club are carrying on what Jose thought.
February 7, 201610 yr Souness also said about how will other players feel when they see someone like Terry being treated like this. I do think Terry will be there next year but what I don't understand is why are the club treating him like this? Basically they are treating him like crap and he should of been given a new contract months ago. Way before bloody Ivanovic did, that's what makes it even worse.
February 7, 201610 yr Problem is that the Board might see this as a matter of pride and will throw logic out the window to prove that they won't be dictated to by fans, the media or players. Our Board like to create the impression that they are masterminds with a clear vision of the club's future direction. In reality they are making it up as they go along.
February 8, 201610 yr Zouma's injury may have helped John Terry. If Kurt has a torn ACL or something similar, he's looking at a whole season out. The board would be crazy not to renew John Terry's contract.
February 8, 201610 yr Souness also said about how will other players feel when they see someone like Terry being treated like this. Real Madrid has treated its longtime players even worse, and they have no problems getting players. I don't think young players, young people in general for that matter, think that far ahead.
February 8, 201610 yr Real Madrid has treated its longtime players even worse, and they have no problems getting players. I don't think young players, young people in general for that matter, think that far ahead. They may be able to still sign the players but look at the state of them, they are a soulless club. The way they treat players and their whole attitude in general creates a weird atmosphere at that club. It's why their success is so sporadic. I really don't want us to turn out like Real Madrid.
February 8, 201610 yr I still think its 100% down to the next manager, who we havent got sorted out yet (probably). The new manager may want to start afresh completely, but if he's any sense he'll want to have JT there to help him settle. Edited February 8, 201610 yr by Zola
February 8, 201610 yr If the new manager decides he doesn't want Terry then he will need some very good results to get the fans on his side.
February 8, 201610 yr Just saw the highlights again. That passion from JT when Costa scored the equalizer is undeniable. We need that, we need JT. I don't know how this is even up for discussion.
February 8, 201610 yr Keown constantly taking shots at JT lately. Firstly saying Adams was a much better centre back, now saying he lacked dignity over the contract situation. I'm sure you've always had dignity Martin, just ask Ruud.

Love this picture (nicked from JT's instagram) - just seems to sum them both up. If (when?) Jose goes to Manure, this is going to be my new avatar. Edited February 8, 201610 yr by Beerqueen
February 8, 201610 yr Unlikely to happen (although after Frank anything is possible) but IF Jose goes to United and IF we don't offer him a new contract then what are the chances of him going up there? He's Mr Chelsea and I do think he sincerely loves this club and it's fans but from an objective, cold view (you know, the one the club has adopted in it's contract negotiations with him) it could be an ideal move. He'd get one last tilt at success, he knows the coach better than anyone and he knows that the coach would put him in the best possible system to cover his weaknesses and lengthen what career he has left. Unlikely I know. If that's a depressing thought, just think that we might hire a coach who doesn't actually want JT around. Either that or we have a board who doesn't understand what he represents to the supporters. Happy Monday Everyone!

If jose wanted to take him there and we do not offer jt a new deal he would be foolish not to consider going back on what he said. If jose wanted to make him a corner stone of uniteds defence for a year or two then why not? Was his boyhood club right and a chance to add another trophy or two to his cabinet.

Hasn't JT already come out and said he will NOT play for another PL club? Regardless of what happens (and I still personally think he will get another year), I think JT will be true to his word - he would rather retire than play for one of our rivals.
February 8, 201610 yr Pretty sure lamps said something along those lines as well. Yeah, but Lamps isn't JT. They may both be Chelsea Legends but there is only ONE Mr Chelsea.
February 8, 201610 yr Pretty sure lamps said something along those lines as well. I’m pretty certain that Lamps said he couldn’t imagine playing for another PL side. Whereas JT said outright that he wouldn’t. Subtle difference but important I think.

February 8, 201610 yr With Zouma out for a long time, it's a no brainer to give JT another year to guide us through the difficult next season. There's no point spending 40M to get an over rated Stone, recall Christensen and we will have 4 solid defenders even without Zouma
February 9, 201610 yr I keep wondering if we have a new manager already agreed and he's decided he doesn't want JT. Oh f**k what if it's the Waiter :S
February 9, 201610 yr I keep wondering if we have a new manager already agreed and he's decided he doesn't want JT. Oh f**k what if it's the Waiter :S Don't. JUST DON'T. I have almost manage to expunge that memory. And I'm just about to eat and don't want to be put off my food.
February 9, 201610 yr Nothing would suprise me anymore. If the F S W did return he'd be sacked by Christmas. Some strange things happening at Chelsea FC. All we can do is carry on supporting and following the club. I don't think we will ever have sustained stability and a long term manager.
