December 10, 201411 yr I would say that, that is the key reason that I don't think youth players will ever really make it through the acadamy, players need to play to progress. But then again the fans are the same as the board, it's the same group who call for us to sighn reuse (or what ever his name) as have a go for not giving youth a chance I don't think wanting to sign world class players, and also wanting to see some academy boys brought through is mutually exclusive as your post suggest. I'm all for signing world class players but I my issue is over the years we have also spent money on squad fillers that have made little to no impact, and it's those squad players I think should be filled by our own prospects. Using salah as an example, we spent 11m on him and he has hardly featured. Surely it would have been more beneficial to use one of own prospects, who would have greatly benefitted from the 16 appearances. He couldn't have fared much worse than salah, on the flip side he could have took the league storm and already staking a first claim. At the very least it increases a young players price tag playing first team minutes, and if they did have to go on loan, already having premier league experience, should make it easier to be trusted to start at other clubs. Mourinho has spoken greatly about the youth since he came back, and hopefully the added stability will see a few of our youngsters become at least squad players, and maybe even the next 'rues'. I'm pretty optimistic about it at the moment, hopefully we will see some of them tonight.
December 10, 201411 yr Imagine if we were as deluded... Everyone loves Mourinho. The nation wanted John Terry to lift the European Cup after his misfortune in Moscow and were elated when he did. Yes. I can remember the street parties well. Everyone was wearing JT masks, and full kits, even though we weren't playing.

December 10, 201411 yr They will have to get past us first, that's if they get out of the last 16, of course Edited December 10, 201411 yr by enigma
December 10, 201411 yr City are going to win the whole thing. Mark my words. I really see that happening too. Lets hope not though a semi final knockout for them so they're nice and distracted from the prem
December 10, 201411 yr Credit to City to go through, I expected them to struggle, and Bayern threw the game anyway They are not a 1 man team ( how could they with that many good players), they just don't have the consistency without the Kun. Having them in the CL will help our title chase.
December 11, 201411 yr City are going to win the whole thing. Mark my words. I don't see that happening at all. They struggled to get out of the group. If they come up against any of Real Madrid, Bayern or Barcelona ( and they will eventually ) then they are going out.
December 11, 201411 yr Nice spin on it all by sky etc...making out win over an average Roma side and just scraping through the group has sent out some kind of message...citeh got lucky, from Bayern two weeks ago and even last night, where game could have gone either way...I'm glad they're still in it so they will have added distraction to league like we do, but let's not make their progress to last 16 more than it was...a lucky escape
December 11, 201411 yr Never before has Roma been rated so highly. Edited December 11, 201411 yr by Stim

For all their possession, Bayern's goals were just as "lucky" as City's.
December 11, 201411 yr City are going to win the whole thing. Mark my words. No. They're eventually going to come up against us if they're going to win it. We'll knock them the f**k out.
December 11, 201411 yr City will be out with most of the next round teams. Maybe they'd beat Porto but I even think Shakhtar would beat them.
December 11, 201411 yr Definetly Basel, so we can prove once again how much better than Liverpool we are Ahem. Have you forgotten that Basel beat us home and away in the CL Group Stage last season ?
December 11, 201411 yr I think we are all hoping city will go out, but they've pretty much scraped through without their best players last night, so who is to say they won't cause problems for anyone with all their key players back and ready. One thing we won't see city so is park a bus in the competition, so over their two legs we could see goals and chances aplenty.
December 11, 201411 yr Not sure why people keep saying this. For all their possession, Bayern's goals were just as "lucky" as City's. outplayed by 10 men and gifted late goals by two errors...not sure how they would have scored otherwise
December 11, 201411 yr Not sure why people keep saying this. For all their possession, Bayern's goals were just as "lucky" as City's. They were outplayed by 10 men the whole game? How were Bayerns goals lucky? That Lewandowski goal was just quality to say the least. City got gifted all 3 goals from Bayern. And Xavi's free kick was pretty good as well. I'm all for different opinions but you're just being controversial on purpose now. Edited December 11, 201411 yr by Slawth
