The Chronicles of Brendan 'Cringe Worthy' Rodgers

Balotelli was left out of Saturday's FA Cup fourth round goalless draw with Bolton, prompting speculation the 24-year-old's career at Anfield was over.

But Rodgers said on Monday that was "not the case at all".

"It's been a difficult period for him but he's a good boy!" added Rodgers.

Presumably, Shortly after that he gave him a bowl of pedigree chum and told him to get in his bed.

Will Mario be having walkies on Tuesday Brendan?

According to Brendan you don't train players you educate them.

Maybe Good Boy Mario could use a bit of training.

To be fair it's clear the cameraman has caught him at an odd monent, I remember that bit and they were laughing with each other

I don't know what you're talking about Bobby, the cameraman never takes a picture of Rodgers at an odd moment.

He needs finishing school, obedience school, and boot camp, all rolled into one.

Co-run by nuns and the North Korean military. And if it helps, Rodgers will claim the credit.

Utter f**king bollocks. Where did you read that? The Liverpool Fans Manual Of Why Chelsea Fans Are The Worst Fans In The World?

This site has a fairly large number of Irish members. I've never yet heard any of them say they've come across anti-Irish bigotry from fellow supporters. When I was growing up, many of the pubs had a large Irish presence, and we got on fine with them. I've worked with Irish blokes on the buildings and elsewhere, and I'd have to struggle hard to recall any instance of anti-Irish bigotry.

You're also confusing hatred with taking the piss. People take the piss out of Mr Rodgers (a) because he's the manager of Liverpool, and (b) because of - and I now refer you to the topic title - because of the utter cringeworthiness of so much of what he says.

Oh and I wouldn't have known that he "grew up in a Catholic part of Northern Ireland" or that he was the product of a mixed marriage if you hadn't mentioned it. It would never have occurred to me to ask, for the simple reason that the man's religion doesn't interest me. I do know that the person who started this thread is Irish. I don't know his religion either, for the exact same reason that it's never occurred to me to inquire.

There's enough hatred, enough prejudice in this world already without you ascribing the motivation behind a thread that takes the piss out of Brendan Rodgers to an anti-Irish sentiment that quite simply does not exist.

I was not insinuating that all Chelsea fans or English people are anti Irish or Catholic, sure I used to live in northern England myself and never experienced any hatred, well apart from a drunk bloke who thought I was eastern european. There is more anti Irish sentiment in Scotland than England.

However we have all heard what some posters here think of men like Neil Lennon and Martin O'Neill, I think the last comment I read was that he was "a wingey rat lookalike", maybe it is just because he managed a Scottish football club who happen to have some extreme republican fans.

No. Until I read your post I assumed that he was a Prod (he may be a Prod even though he played Hurling, etc). There are tons of reasons to dislike LFC and Religion doesn't come into those reasons for me.

As Big Figure says (and like Moyes last year at Utd) he is criticised mainly because he manages LFC. Some of his quotes don't help. I.e.

'Who is your biggest inspiration?'

'Myself'

Most of your posts refer to Ireland. Chip on your shoulder?

No I don't have a chip on my shoulder sir, I spend most of my time here lurking around the match discussions, I only post when something irritates me.

If I had a chip on my shoulder I would be a Celtic fan which I am not, maybe it is you fellas who have chips due to being Rangers fans? Rangers fans where I live are dodgy people.

Brendan Rodgers decides against waking Raheem Sterling for Spurs match

Liverpool manager Brendan Rodgers has confirmed that he did not pick Raheem Sterling for Tuesday night’s match against Tottenham Hotspur because the striker was fast asleep in the changing room. Sterling, who withdrew from international duty in October due to tiredness, has a camp bed set up in the changing room which he uses for daily naps after training.

‘When we came back in before the game he was still fast asleep’, said Rodgers. ‘My mum always said to never wake a sleeping baby and it’s the same with Raheem. If he doesn’t get enough sleep he can be a real grumpy pants and everyone suffers. And he looked so cute lying there with his thumb in his mouth cuddling his Iggle Piggle teddy’.

Captain Steven Gerrard confirmed to Sky Sports that Rodgers delivered his team talk in a low whisper and that the players were told to remove their boots before coming in to the changing room at half-time to avoid waking Sterling. ‘When we came back in at the end of the match he was just coming to’, said Gerrard. ‘He asked me what the big roar was that woke him up and I told him that Ballotelli had scored the winner. He just thought it was part of some ridiculous dream and went back to sleep’
