December 19, 201411 yr Also, don't forget that Rodgers didn't actually want to sign Sturridge in the first place
December 21, 201411 yr Liverpool fans have been patient through the side’s ups and down this season and rarely turn on their own managers in any case, but Rodgers does not see himself as above criticism, neither is he impervious to it. “I know how it goes,” he said. “Six or seven months ago I was the manager of the year and I was going to be this and that, tactically this and tactically that, and now, because we have lost two world-class players, I am useless. But I accept that. I must have just dreamt that about Liverpool playing 3-4-3 in the last game [the Capital One Cup victory at Bournemouth]. What do people think that was, a bit of luck? A British coach playing 3-4-3? A foreign coach doing that would be a tactical genius. I imagine people think I fell into that system through a stroke of luck or something. What a complete bullsh*tter
December 21, 201411 yr You have to be a very impressive level of moron to think that playing one particular formation, with no further information about what system your team is playing, makes you a 'tactical genius'. He is either on the windup or has quite a serious case of NPD...
December 21, 201411 yr I think hes a mental, I mean proper talk to the trees mental. Funnily enough, he'd have a better defence if he just planted four trees in the area.
December 21, 201411 yr Liverpool boss Brendan Rodgers, speaking to BBC Sport: "There's no doubt we deserved to win the game, our performance level was outstanding. Our performance today was better then when we won here last year 5-1. We had total domination of the first half, and 1-0 was probably about right. But then we gave away a disappointing goal right on half-time, and that can leave you a bit deflated. In the second half we continued to press, probe and create, and then all of a sudden we gave away a poor goal. There's no problem with our organisation. It is the decision making that can be our problem, and you cannot make poor decisions if you are going to keep clean sheets. But even down to 10 men we kept penetrating and the goal at the end was the very least we deserved, for the character we showed. It was an outstanding performance, our passing and movement on the pitch, which is terrible, was superb. We deserved to be one up at half-time and I don't think it was a free-kick in the build-up to their second. Alexis Sanchez dived for me and the referee bought it, but we have to defend better. We lost three duels and we need to win the first one. I'm delighted with our performances this week against Manchester United, Bournemouth and Arsenal, it shows we are getting back to where we are. At half-time we asked for more of the same with the same movement and then we showed great character to fight back from 2-1 down with 10 men. I don't think before this week we have been close to that level of speed and thought. You have to be creative as a coach to find a system that brings you back to that." Ah, so he takes all the credit then. For a draw. In a game they should really have won.
December 21, 201411 yr 'It shows we are getting back to where we are' ??! What does that mean? Why can't he talk English like the average manager, like: 'it was an even game and 2-2 was about right'. Rodgers is getting worse. I don't like the following word but what a c**t. Edited December 21, 201411 yr by Spudulike

He's delighted with their performances this week.....really ? A very average Man Utd stuffed them 3-0, they beat an over-achieving Championship side in the League Cup and grabbed a last gasp equaliser at home to a mediocre Arsenal team. Incredible levels of bullsh*t, even by Rodgers standards. And how on earth do you ' get back to where you are ' ? Edited December 21, 201411 yr by WeatherMan
December 21, 201411 yr They're clearly already back to "where they are" I'm assuming he's talking about being out of the champions league?
December 22, 201411 yr Getting back to where they are, Yes they are getting back to midtable so I guess he is correct.
December 22, 201411 yr Author Rodgers, who saw Fabio Borini sent off late on, added: "The way we fought back to equalise with 10 men says everything about the team and its character. "This a group of players with the talent to win games, as we did when we won 11 in succession last season, and that can quickly move you up the league." You cant do a press interview without saying character can you now Brenda?

There's NO WAY ON GOD'S EARTH that LFC will win eleven matches in a row this season.

December 23, 201411 yr What a complete bullsh*tter I've been staying away from this thread for the most part but I don't think I can help myself anymore. This man really does have delusions of grandeur - I suppose he thinks that by playing with three at the back he's some sort of innovator? Yeah Brendan, you're the first British manager in history to ever think along those lines... I'm at a loss for words, and the sad part is that I bet that a good portion of Liverpool's support buy into his every word hook, line and sinker. The very fact that we have a 20-page long thread dedicated solely to the ridiculous things that he spouts says it all really. Edited December 23, 201411 yr by Teritus
December 23, 201411 yr Welcome to the thread Teritus! It's a good thread and, given time and BR's quote-making prowess, it may overtake the Torres thread.
