My memory is evidently sh*te, I wonder how many Shed End MOTM's he's won though in the few years he's been here, seeing as Plokoon seems to be keeping track of it.

He only won two last season but he won six in our title-winning season (2nd only behind Hazard).

So eight overall, although whether or not the MOTM ratings are a particularly good gauge of how well someone actually plays is another question entirely!

“I’ve been following the club for 55 years and I would honestly say he would be in my world’s worst Chelsea team ever,” one fan told BBC 606’s Ian Wright and Kelly Cates.

“He’s a liability, why the hell we got rid of Cech last year [to Arsenal] and kept him is beyond me.

“Every game there is something wrong with him.”

Some comments about Tbo from Chelsea fans. Ridiculously harsh criticism. Was class when he first came and deservedly kept Cech out of the team, people are far too sentimental when it comes to big Pete. I honestly believe he is one of the best shot stoppers in the league and arguably world football and we're lucky to have him. He had quite a serious knee injury and since coming back hasn't been as good as before but nowhere near the liability people paint. Still miles ahead of Begovic.

I see some of you have learned nothing from Eden and Diego's resurgance, smh.

What i find equally hilarious is every time a player is on bad form, life under the predessesor was all off a sudden garden and roses, their is a reason the change was made in the first place and that's because in his last three season's (as number one) Cech really wasn't that good.

All its going to take is a couple of defeats in a row under Conte and people will want Guus back :laugh2:

This same person was probably screaming blue murder when Cech replaced Cudicini and was probably slating Petr on a phone in when he let in that goal from Beattie.

The average Chelsea fan is very sentimental and in some cases that is a good trait but at other times they look ridiculous and it makes us all look like idiots.

I have lost a little faith I must admit.

Still think he is one of the best at coming for crosses. But he does have a clanger in him. Im not sure his mental concentration is as good as some.

Keepers f**k up from time to time, who would we replace with? Hart, Mignolet, Forster, Begovic? :laugh2:

Still quality, start judging if he starts making the same mistakes over and over, until that happens we're lucky to have him.

In his last three seasons he was error prone and indecisive and that was coupled with a poorer defense in front of him.

Doesn't take his mantle as best-ever Chelsea keeper, but the point still stands.

Chelsea as a football club did do superb with the Courtois deal. From the experience he gained on loan and what I have read getting back the fee they paid for him in loan fees if that's correct?

Then Chelsea/Mourinho did introduce Courtois into the first team at the right time. We have one of the best goalkeepers in my opinion in Europe for free or next to nothing, his young and will be at the club for many years. It's one thing the club should be appluded for.

It was the right time for Cech to leave. Was a top class keeper who I did feel was letting more mistakes creep into his game in the last few years before he left Chelsea. Arsenal got a bargain though and like Merson said on Soccer Saturday, Wenger only signed him because he fell into his lap. He also mentioned Cech wanted to stay in London which we don't know is true.

Its a pity it didn't work out for KDB and Lukaku, Chelsea did get good money at the time but both players was never even given a chance at the club.

In his last three seasons at number one he wasn't, the run Munich aside, RIP Mourinho has covered the reason's.

Cechs last great season was 10/11 were he carried a stale team to an undeserved 2nd place.

That is just nonsense, sorry but it is. Cech was never error prone with us, especially in his last season as the number 1 goalkeeper. He actually had a very good season in 2013/14, and the defence was the best in the league that season, we only conceded 27 goals.

The odd person here and there keeps saying that Cech was indecisive and error prone, but i don't remember this at all. Cech was always an extremely reliable goalkeeper, even in his last few season's with us.

And i think some people forget or never really took notice of how good and reliable he was for us. Cech never made the amount of mistakes Courtois has made in the last year.

cech was a fantastic keeper, before and after the injuries. lets not make any bones about that.

but this here is a classic grass is greener case;

when courtois was on loan at atletico people here were moaning we'd loaned out our best keeper etc etc. then when he came back and was made first choice no-one complained, until cech was sold, at which point we'd sold our best keeper!

courtois has had one very good season, his first in england, and an average one last year in which he had a bad injury and for various reason the entire side imploded. even then, the obvious gap between him and a merely 'good' keeper like begovic was totally evident.

there's no point comparing him to cech behind a peak JT, gallas, carvalho, bridge, ferreira, makelele, lampard and essien. those guys don't grow on trees and we will go decades before ever having a group that good defensively.

lets not forget all of courtois' best years are ahead of him. he's an exceptional keeper and so far this season he could've done nothing with the goals we've conceded (and nor could petr) and the only mistake he made was the concession of the pen, which was not a huge error, nor was it the key error in the goal (although the consequence was big, like they often are for keepers).

Not me, i have always said that Cech is the better keeper and shouldn't have lost his place. I don't care about the age difference personally, Cech is still the better keeper now in my opinion and could easily have gone on to be our Buffon.

Now that you mentioned Buffon, I just feel more sad about how easy Chelsea let him go, and now he's doing well with Arsenal (Arsenal are not doing well with him)

well personally I felt cech still slightly edged it too.

but watching them both since, and given their age difference, I think it was an excellent decision by jose. we criticise him for making mistakes with the likes of de bruyne but I think this call was a very good one.

I haven't seen Cech do that well for Arsenal, nothing that makes me think we lost out on the better keeper.

Cech made quite a few errors last year.

Did you see him under AVB or in Jose's first season back?

for me i think Jose made the right call to replace Cech with Courtois. however having said that, i think the expectation (including mine) toward Courtois was very high, and he hasn't exactly delivers. he has been underwhelming and needs to step up his game

don't get me wrong though, even if Jose chose Cech, i don't think he would have done a much better job than Courtois. just look at him at Arse, not exactly an unpenetrable wall isn't he.

I think he's in a bad spell right now but he'll get over it.

We have to remember that he's only 24. The talent is there, we all know it. Goalkeepers usually fully blossom in their late 20's.

Let's be honest, yes Courtois caused the penalty kick but he was forced too as well. He had no help back there. It's not completely his fault.

Fair enough, clearly I and other Shed End members have a short memory.
