Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain

Featured Replies

So rumours are Jose has asked for Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain to be included as part of any potential transfer of Cech to Arsenal.

I've seen that this could be part exchange but I've seen a couple of reports saying that we are lining up a £20m bid for him as well.

So what do we think, could he potentially be a good addition to the squad?

I like Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain think he has the potential to become a top player and would be classed as home grown.  Maybe a bit too injury prone and I doubt Arsenal will let him leave unless he forces it though.

All in all I would be for this transfer.

He's 21, English, had experience in the Champions League and last season created more chances per 90 minutes than either Willian or Oscar. He's also arguably better defensively than both as well.

But he's got the Arsenal curse of suffering a lot of injuries and they're things like groin strains and hamstring strains which can be treated but can also be recurrent issues. I trust our medical department far more than I trust Arsenal's and I reckon he could be a very useful player under Jose.

Honestly, I think this is Joses way of telling them to f**k off. Insisting ti get a player in return that he knows Arsenal wont let go. He can then tell Cech that they really tried, but Arsenal are being unreasonable

No chance this happens unless Chamberlain himself pushes for it. I don't think even Jose believes there's a chance. He's just trying to complicate the Cech deal as much as possible for Arsenal and good on him, and us as a club, for doing that. Fine, the club will probably respect Cech's wishes and he might end up there anyway, but we don't have to make it easy for them.

Jose will drive this all the way.

If Arsenal will not play ball and give us Oxlade Chamberlain then they can f**k right off with their bid for Petr Cech.

Looking at the price tag of sterling and how he lacks strength and the will to play for the team i now think chamberlain might turn out to be a promising signing given his age and maybe his less hefty price tag..but honestly i don't see wenger selling a young promising winger of his calibre that too to us!

Jose said himself that if Arsenal won't do a swap deal, then they won't sell him to them. He said if they won't be reasonable then why should we.

Sounds fair enough.

Well Cech is not stupid. I don't think this would fly with him.

I'm sure I've heard somewhere he is a Chelsea fan.

Yes he is and I wonder why we didn't sign him before he went to Arsenal, mind you he probably would have ended up on loans and deemed not got enough.

I like ox, and of he is a chelsea fan that's bonus. However he does seem quite injury prone and I'm not sure if he has enough to become a starter here. I think his versatility will work against him in the long run like milner, but he his versatility would be an asset to us. I see him taking ramires role in the squad, rather than putting pressure on Oscar and willian for a starting role.

It would definitely soften the blow of losing cech to arsenal. Hopefully we dig our heels in like we did with galas.

The Goonies are getting pretty defensive about the idea of AOC joining us.

Apparently it's a dead cert Cech will join them but we have no hopes of signing any of their players.

Funny how bias really distorts fans views on transfers.

I have to say I think it's a dead cert too sadly.

I think Jose is trying his best to make something positive out of a real sh*tty situation but I think we all know Roman will no doubt let the sale happen.

Like the Rooney situation at United in Jose's first season I just don't see Arsenal parting with a player they clearly have plans for. They are in the situation where they know Cech wants to leave for first team football, wants to stay in England and his contract is running out so they can smell blood.

Arsenal see us obviously as their main opposition for the title next season so the last thing they will want to do is strengthen us and they are in the situation where the lad isn’t looking to leave and has years to run on his contract so they just don’t require to sell him.

What ‘May’ help the situation is if other clubs start to get involved in the race to sign Petr but so far it’s just Arsenal we are hearing about and all the noises coming from Cech’s camp are all pointing to him staying in London with Arsenal being his preferred option.

I’d love to get the Ox or Walcott from them but I think it’s just bluster with no substance to it ever really happening.
