I'm a little wary of congratulating Emenalo on this one. Yes, nice to make a little money if invested into the squad (where's defensive signing(s) this year?!) but we should

have purchased a first team ready defender last year and we didn't.

Maybe being one of the best defenders during the spring of the Bundesliga may have had something to do with that.

Personally I will not be surprised if Papy ends up the better of the 3 defensive signings (Miazga, Papy, Hector). Not to mention he costs less. It infuriates when we go for these signings and yet we supposedly cannot buy Lindelof  because we have to pay in installments. Either the press is making crazy stuff up or we are incomprehensibly cheap.

Personally I will not be surprised if Papy ends up the better of the 3 defensive signings (Miazga, Papy, Hector). Not to mention he costs less. It infuriates when we go for these signings and yet we supposedly cannot buy Lindelof  because we have to pay in installments. Easy enough answer as with 99% of things it is likely just the press making stuff up. 

I hate when the club acts as a commodity trader but cannot upgrade the defense in 2 years nor find decent loan destinations to some of our prized prospects (Lewis Baker, Jeremie Boga, Natahaniel Chalobah, Tommy Kalas to mention a few).

This more or less sums up my sentiments. Whoopie doo, the highlight of our summer business is making a staggering 4m profit on a player who was never really here. I'll console myself when our defence is being lead a merry dance by Swansea or someone that we have 4 million pounds available to invest in the next Michael Hector.

Yes, Kante is a good signing but after the last season and a half I am certain it'll need more than him to make us title contenders. With a week to go I'd say this has been a second consecutive disappointing pre-season in the market.
