February 13, 201610 yr It is well known in other teams what a b*****d Mourinho can be with players when he doesn't want them. Casillas went from being one of the best goal keepers to being ostracised by Mourinho for personal reasons. And Mourinho nee up breaking him just because he didn't want to leave R Madrid (he is a legend for those supporters). And Mata would have got the same treatment if he hadn't gone from Chelsea. Don't get me wrong, I was against sacking Mourinho this time and I thank him for what Chelsea has achieved under his management, but that doesnt hide the fact that he can be a real b*****d with players. Casillas played 2 league games in 13-14 http://www.transfermarkt.com/iker-casillas/leistungsdaten/spieler/3979/plus/0?saison=2013 So Jose wasn't the only one to not rate him.
February 13, 201610 yr Well this is history being re written if ever I've seen it. Casillas was not dropped entirely by Jose. He was used for the majority of the league games. He was dropped for CL games. A pattern that followed after Jose left... Yes nice affable Carlo also dropped him. For CL games, and shock, cassilas was still at real after Jose left, so it wasn't Jose that forced him out. Let's add to the fact the rift between the two existed because casillas would leak dressing room information to his wife who worked in the media. Even taking the last bit as a rumor the rest is fact and makes your point, well mute... Stop trying to make up history Exactly, and Mourinho was right to drop Casillas anyway, Casillas has been poor for years now. In the last 4 years he has made tons of mistakes.
February 13, 201610 yr That is a myth! Mourinho gave him chances, he played well against Tottenham and Mourinho rewarded his performance against them with starts in the next 2 games, but Mata wasnt good enough in either game. Mata had enough chances but his form wasnt good enough, it all ended for him when Mourinho started him against Southampton, where again he done nothing, Jose replaced him and the subs came on and won us the game while Mata sulked on the bench like a baby, he gave up, he wasnt forced out, my opinion of Mata will never change. He went from being back to back player of the season to a bench warmer. Mourinho didnt like his style so he dropped him, its a shame.
February 13, 201610 yr We would need an absolute monster of a centre midfielder next to fabregas, if mata was playing number 10. Not sure it would work now unfortunately.

Even taking the last bit as a rumor the rest is fact and makes your point, well mute... Stop trying to make up history No, Mourinho did not confront Casillas because of the "supposed" leaks to his girlfriend. It started when Mourinho knew that after the 2011 supercup game Casillas, as captain of the Spanish national team, had rung Piqué and Xavi trying to put things right after a very dirty match on both sides. Mourinho didn't want to smooth things with Guardiola or Barcelona and insisted on his unacceptable behaviour for the following games against them. Whoever lived la Liga on those days will be aware of this. That Casillas had tried to put things right with his national team mates drove Mourinho mad, and then started to behave towards Casillas as he did. he left him on the bench for not liking him to smooth things out with the Barcelona players, and that is not good whichever way you look at it. And it is probably what Mata would have got had he stayed in Chelsea with him. The truth is that Mourinho has a strong temper and if you get on his wrong side you get trouble. For those that say Casillas was declining, well, when Mourinho put him on the bench he had won the European Championship with Spain. With Ancellotti playing only in the Cup and CL, he won both with good saves in the Cup.
February 13, 201610 yr I love mata as a player but since his move to utd its become obvious he needs the team built around him to suit his play to make him worth having.

That's why I said I'd only take him back if we were getting Carlo back too. I think he'd set his christmas tree up again with Mata and Hazard behind the striker.

February 13, 201610 yr I'm still not talking about Cudicini ;) C'mon, take that next step, you are ready!
February 13, 201610 yr In a word..No. You could see today why Jose' didn't rate him, he just doesn't do enough defensively. As a manager you want your attacking midfielders to track back and be box to box players. Unless you can afford Mata as a luxury player who only goes forward, well that's a different mata..
February 13, 201610 yr I'm hoping we return to 4-3-3 and more versatile central midfielders like we had in Lampard, Ballack and Essien. I want more box to box midfielders and less attacking midfielders, wich means I don't want Mata back and I wouldn't mind selling one of Oscar/Fabregas either.
February 13, 201610 yr I would take him back tomorrow. How about a swap for Oscar. And chuck in Pedro...
February 13, 201610 yr Mata and Fabregas couldn't play in the same team unfortunately. We'd be torn apart down the middle.

Mata does track back though, he even did it under Jose. He's just not that good at it. Bit of a difference there I feel.
February 15, 201610 yr throw away his career??? he was getting games! its a myth that he never played under Jose, he had chances to play his way into the team he just never took them, i think most players in his situation would have stayed until the end of the season and tried to fight for their place, rather then embarrass themselves by sulking on the bench and then leaving at the first opportunity, if he had any fight in him he would have stayed until the end of the season and then made a decision based on whether he was playing regularly or not. I even remember seeing an interview on Chelsea TV where Mata praised Azpilicueta for not giving up and working hard everyday in training to get in the team ahead of Ashley Cole, but Mata done the complete opposite! players like Azpi are what we need in the team not players like Mata. When Mata was played he was usually played out wide and rarely at number 10. Lets play Remy at holding mid and see if he takes his opportunity to become a first team regular? Mata was treated unfairly under Mourinho. He did what was wanted and tracked back when he could but Mourinho would never have been happy and was always going to take and transfer they could for him. Mata had every right to leave, what is the point in staying to fight for your place when no matter how hard you try it'll never be good enough for the manager?
February 15, 201610 yr Mata does track back though, he even did it under Jose. He's just not that good at it. Bit of a difference there I feel. Most players can run back and forth, but he does it half heartedly and with no intent of tackling anyone unless he is forced into it....going forward its a different story.....no room for luxury players I'm afraid.
February 17, 201610 yr Absolutely, but is this even possible? Jose will probably try to buy Willian from us.
February 17, 201610 yr Absolutely, but is this even possible? Jose will probably try to buy Willian from us. I love José for everything he did for us but he can f**k right off if he thinks he's buying any players from us! Unless he wants to finish showing everyone how great Falcao really is by taking him back to Old Trafford! If that's the case I'll drive him there myself!
February 17, 201610 yr NO! Juan is the type of player that will always be a great player in a good team but never a good player in a great team.
February 17, 201610 yr Willian is a first team regular here, I can't see him leave Chelsea, a team were he is with his fellow Brazilians. Edited February 17, 201610 yr by kiwi1691
February 17, 201610 yr NO! Juan is the type of player that will always be a great player in a good team but never a good player in a great team. That fits in with us nicely, we aren't even a good team right now. When we talk about squad depth and options, Mata is exactly the type we need, even he's not at the level he was 3-4 years ago. Jose being Jose, probably won't do business with us but ship him back to Spain
