July 13, 20188 yr Awful statement. But then again everything the club has done in the past few months has been awful. Come back, Emenalo!

Rafa got a better one and he was a fat moron On the surface it looks like it, but I suspect behind the scenes hes probable pissed off the entire board, staff and club some achievement giving the previous managers we have had. Even then board should have shown a little bit of class, but if you have partner abusing you for a year and you break up it won’t be respectful Edited July 13, 20188 yr by Brutos

Or in this case, between the lacking lines. Shortest statement ever for a sacked Chelsea-manager, lawsuit pending, players celebrating Conte gone etc, etc. I find it a lot more amusing that quite a few people still believed there wasn't much of a problem between Conte and the board and players well into this summer. July 13, 20188 yr It just makes us look cold and iron fisted to people on the outside. I mean you would expect that sort of statement for a guy who came in, disrupted a winning team and had us in a relegation scrap. In reality he took over a failing side, won us a league title against all odds and last season still delivered a FA cup. He is only 1 of 3 managers to win us a league in 50 years, we should value that a little bit more in my opinion.
July 13, 20188 yr Everyone knew this is coming, still people got upset about club official statement. They could have put 100 thanks and you welcome in there, still doesn't change the nature of the statement and people will still be 'outraged' by it. He got paid in full for the year to pursue his interest, will get another job next year, I'm sure he rather get pad in full than a bunch of thanks on twitter.

Happy for the confirmation and also very happy with his tenure as a whole. Although it was time move on and last season he stunk the place out, 2016/17 was great and I will forever be grateful for what he achieved that season.
July 13, 20188 yr Thank you for the great times Antonio, unfortunately it all went to sh*t rather too quickly. https://independent.ie/sport/soccer/premier-league/chelsea/from-antagonising-owners-to-dumping-diego-costa-by-text-the-inside-story-of-antonio-contes-chelsea-fall-37113014.html A more in-depth, behind the scenes article by Matt Law.
July 13, 20188 yr The club must have their reasons, maybe Roman is really really pissed with Conte, and the club doesn't want to piss off Roman, not for an outgoing manager, it's done, drop it, Conte got paid multi-millions for 21 months work, don't feel bad, just move on.

How do you know there's a lawsuit pending? And what players are "celebrating"? 3 minutes ago, cRyptic said: A more in-depth, behind the scenes article by Matt Law. Crucial bit is "by Matt Law". He know not much more than you or I, but has a page to fill, advertisers to satisfy and and clicks to get you to follow. Take all that with a pinch of salt, mate, the vast majority of it is just guesswork, rehashing twitter rumours and gossipy innuendo. No direct quotes from any of the involved parties, are there?
July 13, 20188 yr Just now, yorkleyblue said: It was a very curt and telling statement, I'll agree, but you keep on doing sh*t like this. How do you know there's a lawsuit pending? Because the same people that broke this story 24 hours ago are saying it. All of them. And clearly they do have their proper sources since they were able to break the news long before the club had said anything.

Matt is supposed to be one of those journos with connections at the club but yeah, I understand where you come from, we need to take any unofficial source with a grain of salt no matter how 'close' to the club they are/seem to be.
July 13, 20188 yr Matt tells us he has connections at the club :) I believe that about as much as I believe all the rest of his "journalism" I used to drink in a pub in Windsor frequented by journalists. They would quite often be writing their "interviews" in the pub, and seriously swapping ideas between them about how far they thought they could go and suggestions as to what "might" be happening that they could report as fact. Not just football, but TV "celebrity" stuff as well. Basically, the press, and TV media rarely, if ever tell, you actual facts. And I'm STILL waiting for someone to tell me a twitterer who is consistently accurate and reliable about football matters, or Chelsea matters, or even Love Island matters, for that matter.
July 13, 20188 yr Thank you, Antonio. One of the few managers in our club's history that leaves with a Premier League title next to his name. Despite a tough season, we still attained an FA Cup trophy at the end of it which gives us some comfort. After the nightmare 2015/2016 season of finishing 10th and sacking Jose Mourinho, he restored pride and passion back to the club within a single season and won us a title which I regard as our most memorable since the 2004/2005 season. That's something I won't forget in a hurry. He was entitled to a classier and dignified send off and the club's official statement is terribly short. It heavily demonstrates how badly the relationship broke down between the respective parties. I wish him well for the future and hopefully one day when the dust settles, he can look back at his time with us and recall having some fond memories. I'd like to think recent events don't leave a completely bitter taste in his mouth in the long-term. A sad day, but a new day for the club as it moves forward and picks up the pieces.
July 13, 20188 yr Thank you for the first season and your energy Antonio. Huge shame you utterly balls up the second in the most dreadful way possible and looked disinterested.
