Michy Batshuayi to Chelsea

Featured Replies

Pretty certain  we'd struggle against Huddesfield had he started, his little cameo after replacing Hazard proved that. If my memory is right, he started twice in the league for us this season and we lost both.  If Morata is out for the weekend, it will be the same system with Hazard upfront. Unfortuately, Matshuayi has to wait his full game in the cup game next week.

I was disappointed that Michy didn't play midweek but when you see the result then Conte made the right decision. He is second to Morata in the pecking order and not a bad one in my opinion. I would keep him.

Matt Law reporting that Michy could potentially join Monaco on loan in January as part of a deal to deal Thomas Lemar.

Michael Emenalo, now Monaco's sporting director, is apparently a big fan of Batshuayi.

That will be a very bad deal. Monaco currently have Falcao, Jovetic and someone else up top. It will be a brainless move for everyone concerned.

Everton, West Ham, Newcastle, and potentially Crystal Palace/West Bromwich will be better loan moves.

Burnley could be another option.  Southampton too.

Pretty sure there is a rule how many premier league loans a premier league club can make and we're already at the limit. Hence a foreign loan.

Don’t think there is.

“The only rules that teams need to abide by concern the number of domestic players they are allowed to loan in, which is limited to four in one season, two at any one time and one from a specific club.” -BBC

I feel for Michy a bit, as he has never had a consistent run of games to build confidence and momentum.... and I don't think he is ever going to get one.

The harsh reality, is that I don't think he is currently good enough to be second choice striker for a team in the title race (or the hunt for top 4 perhaps I should say now).

His goal return v minutes played is more than respectable, and I think if he was first choice striker for a team in the bottom half of the table, with less expectations, he could end the season with a a very decent return.

I think a load within the Premiership would be the best for all involved, although I don't think we can afford to lose another squad member before the summer.

His situation remind me very much of Hernandez when he was at Utd, a great sub to bring on as he had pace and movement and banged in a few goals but nowhere near good enough to use as a starter for a team at our their level. He will move to a mid table team and do ok, but I doubt he will ever be god enough for a top team.

To be fair, Hazard and Pedro were well offside many times last night too.

Exactly Pedro should have had a hat trick but easy to point out michy was offside though eh?

Think he will be contes salah. Will go, and end up coming back to another pl club for a huge price and we will all be scratching our heads again.

How can a manager willing to give chances to Christensen and ampadu not be willing to play Batman especially when morata is out? Is baffling this is not Chris Sutton we are talking about!

His skillset is a step above Lukaku but he just doesn't work when we need an outlet up top when we play deep and his link up play with the front 3 leaves a lot to be desired. But give him a chance in the box and he'd score.

He'd pull good numbers at a midtable team with ample playing time. Really want his stay here to work out.

Morata and Michy would benefit a lot learning from each other's game.

really like him. he must be getting frustrated being on the bench so often as he would walk into most teams and be their star player. Hopefully can up his game a bit and push on with us.

He's a poacher.  Watch nearly all of his finishes, and they seem to be chances converted when he's got little space and time to think about it.  I don't think i've ever seen him, nor do I believe i ever will, score a goal after a mazy run around a few defenders before chipping the keeper.

I also don't think we're in a position to loan him out, as we would be bereft of options up top if he were to leave.

We can because Hazard can play as a striker if Morata is ever injured and we might buy another attacking mid in Jan to compensate if Hazard plays CF.

a couple too many variables there for my liking.  Especially seeing as we seem to do things like get rid of players first then scramble to sign effective replacements

He would absolutely flourish at another club, whether that was on loan or if we sold him.  It's almost a bit like the Lukaku situation in which he wasn't getting the game time he wanted so he left, and we all know how that turned out.  Problem is, if we do sell him/send him out on loan then who can we realistically bring in to replace him?  Morata is going to play more games than now, and we have Hazard who runs through there as well.

I'd love for him to stay and prove his worth, but sadly I'm not in charge of the team and unless something drastic happens I can't see Conte giving him the opportunities he needs.

Turned out brilliantly for us, selling Lukaku was a great thing for us, and not resiging him was even better. Batshauyi will probably also go to West Ham or Everton score loads of goals and have fans and pundits banging on about what an awful "mistake" we made without looking at the bigger picture of how he didn't fit the system.

Done nothing tonight to merit starting games.

Whenever he gets the chance he doesn't seem to be taking it this season.

Getting the chance would be starting league games when the main striker is out.

Pedro didn’t seem too happy with him in the first half. Kept getting the ball in to his feet with his back to goal and instead of laying it off he always tried to turn and shoot.

I guess if he only get the odd game to impress he feels he needs to score.

He didn't take his chance, simple as that. Had he scored a double or put in an all round performance, he'd be starting against Everton. However, after that poor game and Hazard/Willian in good form, Conte be mad to start Batshuayi on Saturday.
