David Luiz back at Chelsea

May be a lot of talk for nothing but this is very surprising from so many angles. The only way this would make sense for me is if Lamps is bringing in a culture with which Luiz doesn't align, for whatever reason. But even then, we have a transfer ban. I guess Azpi could be shifted to CB with the arrival of James so we wouldn't be too thin but still....

Lot of people say this but CB in a 3 is not the same as in a 4, he isn’t built like a CB he is 5’10, for me in a pickle maybe he could fill in but not as a permanent fixture

What the hell is this all about?

If this is true, then Luiz is being a proper prick, but we also can't ignore how much of a massive blow this will be. A cb pairing of Zouma and Christensen for the early parts of the season is not ideal, it's very worrying actually. We can't afford to be losing players, especially players we can't replace.

Also, if we sell him to Arsenal, then any faith I had in our board will be gone completely. I don't have much hope for top 4 as it is, but it would be mental to sell him to a rival as big as Arsenal when we are struggling to get a team together capable of challenging for top 4. Strengthening them and weakening ourselves further would be ludicrous. I am also sick and tired of selling to our rivals, it's like our club just doesn't give a damn about these things. It's all about the money we can get for the player, even if there is a big chance of us suffering on the pitch because of it. I've had enough of it now, we are the only club that seems to do this so often. A few of your backup players is understandable, but not players that have helped you win so much and become fan favourites.

The weirdest thing about this is Luiz is walking away from a career for life.

He's never going to be welcomed back to the bridge. He will never be offered a coaching gig in the future. Ambassador jobs? Turning up for friendlies? All gone at the age of 32. I don't understand it at all.

I'm fine with him leaving, I think it forces us to bleed the three (maybe 4) defenders who are our future. I just don't see why he is doing this damage to himself!!

Not sure why Luiz is picked out as a terrible defender who always makes mistakes. He makes as many mistakes/poor decisions as any of our other defenders. He also creates chances for us with his passing range and vision from the back. He is an asset for any team, especially one like Arsenal who have a pacey forward line and can make those sneaky runs in behind. He would for sure strengthen Arsenal and if the board agree to this sale, they are mad.

Thing is, he has forced our hand given us little option. David Luiz is an emotional player and can sulk if there are problems. We’ve seen it a few times with him.

We were all worried when Cech was going there but he didn’t make too much of a difference and I don’t think Luiz will make too much either.

I agree with both of these posts.

If he wants to leave, he has to go. It will be a loss but it will be worse to keep him around.

Some bloke on Sky Sports just said that sources have told him David Luiz will be an Arsenal-player tomorrow.

Good, now Marina needs to use the European windows to get rid of more deadwood from our squad. Zappacosta, Drinkwater, Bakayoko for sure should go.

Chelsea are ready to agree David Luiz transfer to Arsenal - for just £8million.

Not happy for £8m!!

Whaaaat?

8 million. What in earth...

If he signed a contract in may, why such a ridiculously low fee?

Too cheap, not good on our behalf if true.

I don't rate Zouma at all and Tomori isn't good enough. So to go into a season with just Rudiger and Christensen as viable CBs isn't very good. I'd also rather not sell to a PL rival yet again, but we seem to be making a habit of it lately.

I'll come back to remind you of this comment and rub it in very deliberately when Zouma proves to be our best, most consistent centre half at the end of the season. ?

At first I thought it was a stupid move with Rudy out for another month to 6 weeks. The amount of the fee aside (8 mill is too low considering hes just extended his contract) apparently hes been acting like a right C**t since the last friendly when he was dropped and wants to leave for the gooners for regular game time. Chelsea have a policy I believe if a player isn't happy they let him go, Cech went to Arsenal there was a lot of talk in the media & on here that the move was stupid making a direct rival stronger on the pitch & of him being worth an extra 10 points a year to that rival, didn't happen did it ?  Let him go, I don't think his presence in the back 4 is going to guarantee a top 4 finish, and if the club / SFL don't mind him going then hes not even integral to this season's plans. Its a bit disappointing in the manner  of him departing if this does go down tomorrow, but just like Big Nose he will go from a legend (big nose wasnt that even) to judas overnight. I personally don't begrudge him leaving to get more playing time, he's past his sell by date and we all knew this would be a transition season, we all want youth team players to be good enough to join the 1st team squad so lets take a punt on Tomori, after all wev'e all taken a punt on SFL & Jody.

He is 32, but just signed a new deal so that does seem crazily low.

Given it i too a rival it is. Should be around that 20mill mark, but is up to the club how they want to handle it. Maybe Lamps just told them to get rid of Luiz regardless and I guess we would have got nothing for him had he not signed that new deal so...

I will never understand why this club continues to strengthen its direct rivals.

And when have we done that before? If you're talking about Mata and Matic and you're using the term "strengthen" then I dont know what to say....

8m? Okay I am completely against this now.

If it was at least 20-30m I would have been okay with him going, but for 8?? That is disgraceful

If this Is all true let him join drinky collecting a pay check

Still can’t believe we w**ked away 35 million on him and 100k a week for 5 years, who’s f**king bright idea was that

There'd be a lot of youth products/young inexperienced players in this team if Tomori remains, as it looks like he will do.

Christensen

Tomori

James

Loftus Cheek

Mount

Hudson Odoi

Kenedy

Abraham

Loftus Cheek and possibly Christensen I wouldn't worry too much about as they've pretty much established themselves as senior players now.

The rest - having all of them playing significant roles in the team, where sometimes it may have to be three or four, maybe more, making up the XI, it seems a bit risky.

Cech to Arsenal when they were in desperate need of goalkeeper and this would be another. I guess your fine with strengthening our rivals while we can’t sign anyone? Oh ya and Mata and Matic have strengthened United I’d much rather we sell abroad than domestically. Plus the sale of Matic was forced because the club wanted Baka as his new young replacement and we have seen how well that worked out.

Also selling a young Sturridge to liverpool wasn’t a great idea considering he has a few great years there.
