David Luiz back at Chelsea

Probably got the hump after lamps asked him to try and you know, defend. So he's thought, where can I go where defending is optional? Ah I know, arsenal.

^ Yep. This right here.

Guardian say we are asking for 20 million. Seems a little low considering it's deadline-day tomorrow and Arsenal are desperate.

We will not build from the back without him against teams who press high. Rudiger can play that football but not as well. I can't believe this is going on to be honest. Hope it is all smoke and mirrors. We can't lose our ball playing center back to a direct rival. We'd be doing a massive favour to Arsenal.

I reckon we'll be all out of temperamental Brazilians in the next two windows ... if Luiz goes that just leaves Willian and Kenedy, both of whom are surely on borrowed time.

Wouldn’t have offered Willian a new 2yr contract, I would have kept him on his toes and let him earn a new one.

Still a good chunk of change for a 32 year old defender

Some bloke on Sky Sports just said that sources have told him David Luiz will be an Arsenal-player tomorrow.

This will be the fasted transfer saga I have ever seen. From Chelsea player who recently signed an extension to Arsenal player in less than a day. It's gone 0-100 in about 6 hours.

Club is going in a new and exciting direction, and a 32 year old David Luiz who may not be Frank's cup of tea, maybe going to a rival who will definatly not improve them, and we might get 20/30 million, happy days.

And how many years does he have left at the top level, really?  He's always been a physically fit guy and still plays younger than his years, but it could all go downhill quickly - sometimes over the course of only 1 season.

I think with a david Luiz, he is quite temperamental and if he’s falling out with players/managers, it’s best to let him go and make sure we get a good price. Rightly or wrongly, He also fell out with Conte.

It might make Lampard’s job easier not having a player there that he played with as well.

Its just annoying that it’s Arsenal that we’re strengthening.

This is the first instance where i have some doubts regarding the management decsion making from our new team, if this is true. To hear comments on here that Luiz may not want to be 4th choice staggers me. Regardless of any apparent errors in Luiz's defending, for the fans or the club to think that he would sit behind, in the order, players like Christensen who has little command of his position and can only do a reasonable job alongside a strong leader, or Zouma who's positional strength, ball skill, and general awareness leaves a lot to be desired so much so that having returned from injury to the club was then sharply put out on loan to try to improve, or indeed Tomori who was also error riddled at the beginning of his loan spell and has matured to become another reasonable yet inexperienced player in a championship team that achieved a modicum of success on the basis that the whole was better than the sum of its parts, is frankly laughable and extremely concerning.

Luiz's experience, ability on the ball, leadership qualities in the dressing room and his recent declaration of love for the club, are commodities that should form the foundation upon which the next generation are built, not to be shown the door, to our rivals no less, when our own cupboards are so bare.

Zouma and Christensen, starting pair against Man Utd apparently. Good Lord!!   :face_palm:

They have Mustafi and Sokratis. How does this not improve them? Or put another way two days ago (and with no ban) if SSN were reporting a Luiz - Mustsfi straight swap what would have been the general consensus on here have been then?

I'd rather give backing to Rudi, Christensen, Tomori and Zouma and try and get a good fee for Luiz.

He's on the decline now and I think it's now time to move on and see how much we can rip Arsenal off.

I don't believe for one second we'll get to January and be saying "we really shouldn't of sold Luiz"
