Short memory. Cuadrado was much worse.

Don't agree. And Cuad, while he looked lightweight and out of his depth at times, was never given as significant opportunity as baka

His highlights were tripping over the ball. At least Bakayoko has scored goals and actually had good games. Cuadrado never managed either of those things.

So he added comedy value...Result!

In truth, I absolutely acknowledge cuadrado was the pits for us, and he was rightfully let go... but I am also mindful that he had less time and opportunities to improve.

On balance, the fact that Baka looked scared of the ball, often appearing  confused and disorientated, made rash challenges and got himself sent off, was directly responsible for goals conceded and struggled to make even the easiest of passes, he nudges it for me in the incompetence stakes. In truth, neither of them should be anywhere near the team based on past Chelsea form.

What gives me hope with Baka is he is a big man with great physique and he is still young. 24 this year as someone here said. He needs an injection of confidence which the new coach can do and some guidance. This is what Maka said of him before we signed him. I think we absolutely should give him a chance this season.

If only those were qualities Sarri gave a lick about. Sarri is all about ability on the ball, being able to quickly pass and move, being tactically astute and having the ability to be in the right position at the right time. Pretty much everything Baka sucks at

People keep saying Baka has great physique but we haven't seen that at all. Judging by last season his physical abilities are pretty average.

May be they just mean he looks good nekid.

I really don't see a space for Bakayoko in a Sarri side, Sarri has spoken multiple times about being willing to coach a player to fit in his system, he's done it so many times with other players but I don't really see any qualities that Bakayoko has that would allow him to function in a Sarri team

It's not just his technical abilities like passing and ball control that are below average, he also seems to have no awareness of whats going on around him either. Also at a club like us that can afford to spend over 50 million on a player like Jorginho and potentially 30 million on a player like Golovin it makes it even less likely Bakayoko will get any sort of chance with us

Rumours flying around on Twitter that Sarri doesn't rate him (who does?) and we are going to get rid of him, perhaps a year long loan to Sevilla.

This is purely conjecture mind you, but i wouldn't be surprised if it's true. Garbage truck

If he doesn't rate him we should sell him out right.  What's the point of a loan?

No one outside england can match wages so it has to be a loan unless he takes a pay cut on a transfer and no one in their right mind would do that. Did it with Torres, Cuadrado etc.

Would be disappointing in terms of a failed transfer but perhaps give more opportunities to RLC and Barkley in the midfield three?

I really hope Zeta decided not to watch the Perth game... :laugh2:

I watched the highlights with the volume down and didn't realize it was Baka. I thought he was one of the academy players and was thinking, this lad looks a bit out of his depth and not very good. Then I saw it was Baka and it all made sense!!

If he's not in sarri's plans then loan him out so he can hopefully get his value back up somewhere else or we will be taking a massive loss as he has not shown to be a 40mill player last season.

Positives are he's young so has alot of potential for improvement, and also alot of players need a season to adjust to the PL.

But the main problem is he looks lost.

Great phisicality with poor defensive awareness and positioning and no end product.

Or just save him for games against man utd as that seems to be the only team he knows how to play against.

I had hoped that he'd be reinvigorated after a decent rest and a new manager.

I know it's only our first pre-season friendly but all the troubling signs were still there, the loose touch, the over hit passes. The ambling back whilst opposition players breeze past him.

What's the best you're hoping for out of him right now? That's he's not going to be so bad he'll cost you a game?

We've got Fabregas, Kante, Jorginho, RLC, Barkley and Ampadu. Rumours of Golovin coming too... And you'd start all of them, regardless of formation ahead of Bakayoko. He's got to go, even if it's on loan for the season because I just don't see where he fits in right now.

That's because he's sh*t. A 2 month break isn't going to help him suddenly become a footballer.

I still laugh when on the Chelsea subreddit they all seem sure Bakayoko must stay and that he'll become a world class player and any suggestion to the contrary gets you downvoted to oblivion. Some serious delusion going on over there.

Gave the ball away for inters equiliser, and with he game currently at 58mins, he is giving the ball away over and over again. He is so poor and we have looked sloppy since he came on.
