Tiémoué Bakayoko

Featured Replies

His agent has come out and said he wants to stay and fight for his place.

He needs to go, even if it's just on loan, and we can pray he has a half decent season so we can get a good fee for him next year.

Apart from the fact he is an awful footballer, he doesn't fit sarri in slightest.

I think we must have 2 Bakayokos, with another one I've never seen, because every time this topic comes up on the chelsea subreddit, people seem to think he's got this amazing potential to be world class and we'd be crazy to get rid, and that he put in numerous "fantastic" performances last season.

I can't remember any fantastic performances.

He played well a few times, Atlético away was probably his best game, but I've seen nothing of him fir Monaco or for us last season that indicates he will go on to be a top footballer.

Poor touch, passing, awareness, intelligence, he is more raw than players in the u18 team.

6 months ago maybe. I don't think he has any defenders left.

I've seen absolutely nothing from him that suggests he has a future here, if he did turn out good it would be the biggest shock that I've ever encountered and I once predicted Hazard would flop when we first signed him.

When he came I thought he would be a powerhouse in midfield along the lines of Essien, driving forward etc; I was one of those 'hopefuls'  ::HeAdS::: however the more I watch him I think this league was perhaps one step too far for him; he needs to go out on loan or sold back to a European side and get another couple of years under his belt.

He was just a player who was made to look good by the players that surrounded him in Monaco, he wasn't one of the stars but a bang average run of the mil midfielder in the French league. It was evident from the very first time we saw him in a Chelsea shirt he was a fish out of water.

Our best hope is another club from France come in for him, we wont recoup our money...not even close to it but I'd take the hit and put this own down to a huge error of judgement.

Like our very own Bebe.

I would hate to think that his staying would block the path of RLC, Hudson-Odoi or even Barkley getting decent minutes this season based on his price tag.

There can sometimes be an expectation to justify a purchase and that's what worries me with Bakayoko.

I was all for giving him another chance this season but in the friendlies we've played he's already demonstrating the same problems from last season. His loose passing in particular seems like it could be a massive hindrance to how we're intending on playing this season.

Why would he? Even if he stayed and played every single minute it wouldn't affect those three either way as his role is completely different.

We're looking to play a three man midfield.

The three is going to contain a combination of Kante, Fabregas, RLC, Barkley, Jorginho, Bakayoko.

At this moment in time it's anyone's guess how Sarri intends to use all of those players.

Regarding Hudson-Odoi, say in the Europa League Sarri rotates things, he might be more inclined to give someone like Bakayoko minutes than CHO due to age/reputation etc. even if it meant tweaking the regular system or playing people out of position (Barkley or RLC plays wide on the front three to accommodate Bakayoko in midfield meaning CHO doesn't start games).

What on earth made the Chelsea board think it was a good idea to spunk 40m on this guy?

You’d expect players to be heavily scouted before we decide to invest a lot of money into the player? He must have been a completely different player at Monaco.

Especially when we take so long in getting rid of players in our academy. It took 9 years on a goalkeeper who was our longest serving player!! Also Todd Kane is 24 and going out on loan to Hull this season.

Emenalo probably.

If you read the stories he really struggled for a time at Monaco. Was behind our loanee, Pasalic, for most of two seasons ago. Had a purple patch the season after and Monaco cleverly sold him for peak price.

I'm not convinced he has a future here. We're linked with Vecino who is a similar physical player who has played under Sarri before. I should think that will spell the end of Bakayoko.

I really think he must have been part of Emanelo going to Monaco in his DoF role.  Essentially "get Chelsea to take him, and the job's yours"

And yes, i did feel based on a few things I saw, that he was just struggling to adapt.  But I can't even go there any more.  Bizarre that Conte played him so much

This is what confused me the most. Every time i seen him, he was between bad and average, and there were talks of us being interested in him long before we even signed him. What the hell did we see in him?

For all those blaming Emenalo now or suggesting underhand deals went on to facilitate employment with Monaco if we bought Baka I say shame on you.

I didn't see too many people suggesting such or saying we shouldn't get him at the time especially as his signing dragged on for so long.

It was more complaints about why taking so long to complete. Fair enough a few voices of opposition to the deal were present but the general mood was "great signing, let's have him already".

I remember being cautious about deal at the time and even was unhappy as I said we restricted our youths too much. At the time he got into Monaco's team he had played less professional football than Nat Chalobah but got given one season of opportunity in which he blossomed and all of a sudden the next big shiny thing obscured a path to first team football for one of our academy's brightest products.

I even said at the time I would be happier if we made no signings and gave all the slots to the young players to see what they can do and write off the season. We didn't, but spent over £200m on bad buys and season went awry anyway.

However, I don't agree with binning a player after just one season at a club especially in a new league. Not saying he should get into the match day squad but should have the opportunity to fight for a spot.

That's the least Chalobah deserves, let the guy that led to his Chelsea exit get an opportunity (again) at showing if he's got it in him.

We miss a trick every season with our youngsters and it is what we are now having to pay for with hugely inflated prices and mediocre returns.

As I said last year around this time, if Monaco didn't give Baka a chance to play there would have been no fawning over Europe's next big thing so I say let's give our own youth a chance. These players won everything at youth level. Sake!!!

Lets see what Sarri thinks about him, I fully expect him to be on the bench most games.

Kante-Jorginho-Fabregas///Barkley/Loftus-Cheek should be our starting midfield lineup for most and big games in the league this season, not really a title winning lineup but considering what Liverpool and Man Utd had last season we can get a top 4 finish based on this part of the field.

I would gladly put Ampadu in before Bakayoko as a defensive midfielder anyway, Bakayoko is still 23 so who knows maybe he needed last season as a hard lesson...

This late in the window, i think we are stuck with him.  Expect a few cameos, and that's about it

I would love Sarri to transform him into the player we all thought we were getting, but i've lost a lot of that hope

I suspect that would need to be a Mrs Shrek - Princess Fiona type of transformation. I too have hoped that he would develop into the gangly marauding midfielder that Viera was but afraid not. I have seen players in the semi professional game with better ability than Baka. Sad but true.
