Very bad news, hope he recovers. 

Bbc says in stable condition and expected to be in hospital for a few days, less dramatic and hopefully more accurate than the tabloids.

wishing him a full and speedy recovery! What a horrific injury. 

I need to spare a moment for Cahill as well, he must be devastated at the outcome of this from a 50/50.

 

Obviously it's not his fault at all but he'll feel guilt I know I would. 

I hope he remembers he's not at fault.

While it's a very serious situaton, the tabloids seem to be completely over the top as usual with their "fighting for his life" headlines.

Hopefully he'll be able to make a full recovery.

As much as I don't like their article, I think he might have been fighting for his life initially. This seems to be a similar injury as the one Cech suffered.

I hope Mason recovers without any problems and we can see him back on the pitch.

Just saw that some of our fans were apparently shouting "hurry up" and "get him off the pitch" to Mason. Any truth in this? If it is true then it's absolutely appalling, those idiots should know better especially after what happened to Petr

Wasn't there but it looked fairly respectful on TV - he was certainly applauded off. I couldn't hear any ironic cheers or anything, I did watch it in a pub mind.

    Was at the game yesterday - I sit in the MHU- and didn't hear any chants like that. I know some people who sit in the Shed Upper. Saw them after the game and they didn't say anything about awful chants like 'hurry up." If it did happen, absolutely appalling. No need for it especially given, as you say, what happened to Petr.

    I was at the Shed Upper and heard ONE guy (it seemed to me that it came from the Shed lower) calling him to get up after Cahill had gone to the side of the pitch. I repeat that it was just ONE voice when we were all silent and no one followed him. The ovation when he was taken on the stretcher out of the pitch was impressive with all the stadium standing up. So no, we are not what some are trying to make us, the 99.99% of the Chelsea supporters were applauding and concerned.

    You'll always get that from a few people in any stadium. 

    To be fair i imagine a few people may have called for him to 'get up' with so much diving in football nowadays, as you don't expect such a serious injury just from going up for a header with another man. I think once it was realised how serious the injury was i very much doubt anyone shouted anything.

    Hull City midfielder Ryan Mason is conscious and has been speaking about the incident in which he fractured his skull during Sunday's game at Chelsea, the club said in a statement.

    Mason, 25, clashed heads with Chelsea defender Gary Cahill 13 minutes into the Premier League match.

    He was taken to St Mary's Hospital in London, where he had surgery.

    "Ryan and his family have also been extremely touched by the overwhelming support," added the statement.

    I was in the lower shed with my son when it happened, can't get that noise out my head, was sickening, like it echoed.

    I just hope he makes a full recovery and back playing to his full potential, although not easy from a serious head injury.
