Obvious contact, but he throws himself to the floor immediately, far less of a pen than Moratas.
Don't really know what Morata had to do with this, but this should always be a penalty. Lo Celso didn't just make contact by putting his hands on Kroos, he clearly had a grip and pulled him back/down. If Kroos keeps running his momentum is gone and the danger will probably be gone and he will not get a penalty, that's why he drops to the floor and it's a shame he has to do this.

Because both were similar situations and Morata goes down, gets nothing, but the Norwich defender had his hands on him for longer, was clearly all over him. Celso pulls him back once, penalty. You said yourself, it's a shame he has to do this, he doesn't though, he has a choice, watch the incident back, slightest tug, dive and it's a pen, it's soft.

If someone is past you, as both Morata and Kroos were, as a defender you should be running flat out to catch up with them. To run flat out your arms need to be by your side and pumping furiously (ooh errr). Lifting your arms and placing them on the opponent's shoulders is not a sign that you are trying to catch up with them. It is a giveaway that you are trying to slow the opponent down. This happened to Morata but instead of getting the penalty the ref booked him and instantly red carded him for his protest.

There have been a few identical situations since the Norwich fiasco, and the pundits have been unanimous they were clear pens. That's not what they said about Morata's.

Exactly, highlights their bias, which is partly why I brought it up in the first place. Kroos one was still soft imo, I think Morata's was more clear cut. But, you can't put your hands on the striker in the box, I gave away a pen like this myself at the sh*ttiest level imaginable, with very minimal contact, mind you, the ref was an absolute crook.

PSG is a good example that money isn't everything, Real Madrid's experience just did it tonight.

I have to disagree - that coach undid PSG tonight - not to start Thiago Silva - they basically had a rookie defense back there - I expect that gaffer to be sacked in the morning

Every single one our fellow English rivals turned up and delivered. Can't help but feel we are lagging behind them but as long as it's not a thrashing and we are atleast somewhat competitive vs barca it will be fine. Not much we can do with the current squad and players.

So Wenger’s moaning that Aubeymang can’t play in Europa League because he’s cup tied. He reckons they should change the rule now with the amounts been paid out for players.

My thoughts:

- He knew he’d be Cup tied when he bought the player.

- It’s funny how it bothers him now that it effects him.

- finally, isn’t he a manager who keeps saying they should scrap the Jan window? If that’s the case then it wouldn’t be an issue anyway.

how porto and basel ever got through i don't know. see, this is why a super european cup should be created. the top clubs in certain leagues aren't good enough. they may as well go in the europa league as they are not doing anything in the champions league.

Wenger is a hypocritical old prick, if he`s signed a cup tied player then its on him and no one else.

I think this is pretty much spot-on, even if some of it reads like he's completely gone off at the deep end:

Don’t agree. A flamboyant article focused on two stars and obviating the quality of the rest of the players. Didn’t he see Isco and Kroos combinations? Nacho nullifying Neymar? Marcelo’s runs on the left with Modric and later on Asensio? Lucas Vázquez playing with Bale? And PSG the same, I just don’t know them. It was a game with great pace and high pressure. And of course goals came from defensive errors, they always do. Just forget the two stars, there’s other quality in these teams the writer chose not to see.
