So 2 days left in the window, and we still need a LWB, a RWB, a CM. So basically we are in the same situation as we were 4 f**king months back in may.

Board botched it. Too busy cheapin out and worried about the financials then they are about the teams ability to fight in more competitions, have players to cover in the event of injury, etc. Damn shame. We can easily use 3, 4 players to keep strong competition internally and to help rotate the players like "Contfather" said. So much for them taking his advice and acting quickly at the start of the window!

So if Llorente, Barkley and Drinkwater come off then we have LWB and RWB to deal with.... 

I'd say we have Tomori, Rudger, Dave as RWB options and Baba and maybe Dave & Moses at LWB ?

i haven't heard of chelsea having any other links to RWB or LWB really apart from the occasional rumours of Cedric, Candreva and Bertrand. Realistically I'm not sure if we will get those two positions in but id be interested to see what Baba can do and Tomori looks good at RWB on tour (obvs. some way to go). Big couple of days to  come.

Baba will stay and be the LWB option, when he's fitter.

Llorente looks the most likely to happen at the moment.

Drinkwater will probably happen, when the board panic on the last day and offer 40m, but I would far rather we did something like signed Sanches on a 1 year loan.

Apparently Schalke wanted him on loan but he's nowhere near being fit to play. 

He's set to stay with us to build up fitness and then they'll look to take him in January. 

I read he won't be ready until some time in October, so not sure he's being viewed as an option for us. 

Its getting worse and worse.

We'll have to go with what we have, it's just not happening. Incompetent board leave things to the last minute and this is what happens, I feel for Conte, he didn't know what he was letting himself in for. 

Hopefully we will sign a CM, you can't get through playing with 3. 1 injury and you have 2 playing every game. At least last year Chalobah could play in the cup games.

So frustrating seeing how many players we have out on loan when we desperately need numbers. I mean, someone like Van Ginkel would have been a perfect squad player.

If we are smart we will get out of the carling cup and fa cup early. 

I think we will end up overpaying for drinkwater who will start less than 20 games before being sold for less than half of what we paid. 

Llorente will come in and be a decent impact sub, Batshuayi's stock will fall and he will be sold next summer. 

We've been here before, as long as we keep bringing in trophies though it won't matter.

This is what I wrote August 3, that is four weeks ago. I never ever in my most horrified nightmares could have believed that the situation is the same now, 28 hours from the end of this transfer window. I just can't understand what has been going on. The need for giving more depth to the squad was so obvious. What has been the plan for this window? What has gone wrong? How is it possible that our worst competitors "steal" our just to be signed contracts one after another?

i'm not gonna lie, one thing i don't like us doing is waiting so close to deadline day to seal deals. it would have been nice to have had these sewn up at least a week ago. however, if we sign 3/4 players tomorrow then a lot of people will soon stay quiet and it will be rosy, but if we only manage to sign a couple players then it's the board's issue to deal with and hopefully we go until january unscathed in regards to injuries only to make reinforcement signings then. 

Let's hope Elemano's spreadsheet has a few more names on it and they can pull a couple of signings out the bag.  otherwise we're going to struggle. 

Iv'e defended the board quite a bit over the Summer but they have seriously messed up this Summer

 

It's embarrassing how we've allowed ourselves to be in a position where we need at least 4 new players with 1 day left in the window. We've sold off the likes of Ake and Chalo for a combined total of less than 30 million, we've loaned out the likes of Van Ginkel, Baker, RLC and Pasalic and left our midfield woefully short, we've allowed Matic to go to Utd and I'm not even going to go into detail about the countless players we missed out on

I literally can't get my head around selling Chalo and Ake to then spend 30-40 million on Drinkwater. I know Chalo was out of contract next season but we made 5 million out of selling him

Yeah it's frustrating. I would feel much better now if we signed Chamberlain, knowing he can cover for attacking wing, wingback, and central midfield. But he turned us down and went to Liverpool.

Who is there now? Barkley who is injured til next year? Drinkwater? Drinkwater is a solid squad player but still pretty underwhelming.

We just have to remember the Alonso and David Luiz deals came out of nowhere, we weren't even linked with them. So who's going to make a comeback tomorrow, Torres?

I'm sure the failure to land Chamberlain is only frustrating to us fans in that we aren't signing anyone at all (as yet) and need some cover. But not many can hand on heart say that he was the difference between 5/4th and 2nd/1st in the table and group stage v quarters plus in the CL. He's clearly bonkers if he ever thought he starts ahead of Kante, Baka or Cesc and I'm sure from what I've read that it's the same story at Anfield. We need quality combined with backbone and a hint of humility. He has little of any of them.

That said, Lord knows who is out there that we can sign tomorrow without getting insanely fleeced and offers the three qualities above.

With this squad depth we should probably  focus just on EPL (and maybe FA Cup) and ignore other competitions including UCL..

I would say PL and CL. Thats it.

This transfer window has been a massive joke for us tbh, yes we've brought in morata, baka and rudiger, but how long did they drag on for.

Should have kept Ake. Can play 3 positions and would have got enough games.
