I don't think he's a bad player either, but to spend £40M on him while letting Chalobah go for about £4M was the most head scratching move in that window. The others, while several didn't work out (Morata/Bakayoko) could at least be rationalized.
August 3, 20196 yr Bakayoko and Drinkwater needs to go. I know it sounds harsh but there's no point keeping them around. Such a waste of 80m considering we could have gone for a World Class player.
August 8, 20196 yr Sean Dyche says deal for Drinkwater is a maybe... but looking increasingly likely that that's where DD is going this season.
August 8, 20196 yr He has what? 3 years on his deal? Never mind loan, if they are interested we should sell. Hear me out. We are sitting pretty on FFP due to the ban. So establish a transfer to Burnley, say 10mill. Say Burnley can pay him 40k a week. That leaves 60k. Clearly he wont walk away from this. Work out how much that 60k comes to for 3 years, pay than man and write it off now. Cause one way or another he is getting his money that is clear after last season.p

August 8, 20196 yr Only six months? Bizarre... Burnley cautious about committing to his wages for a full year?

August 9, 20196 yr A shame we still sent out a bunch of worthless players on loan isntead of finding permanent deals

If he does well for them then I would imagine we’d get more for him then than we would get now, considering his lack of game time.

True that, at least we did manage to cleanse the club with a lot of deadwood... Im hoping the same will carry on in the next couple of windows. But for the moment we have done a pretty good job. Im just wondering whats happening to players like Piazon, Hector etc.. Who won't play for us this season, but as far as im aware they havent been sent out on loan either?
August 9, 20196 yr Apparently they are paying half of his wages, so we're still paying him 50k a week to not be here.

If his job was dependent on him driving then he could be dismissed on the grounds he was unable to do his job. Also, if the conviction affected his employment in some other way like he managed a team of drivers then, again, he could be dismissed. But you can’t simply dismiss someone because they have been done for drink driving.

You could throw Blackman in there as well, who is currently down as being in our U23 squad ... and possibly the oldest player they have ever had, at nearly 26 .... 🙂 Hector was wanted at Sheffield Wednesday but they couldn't agree the fee with us. Fulham also interested, and I read somewhere that there is a possibility he will join them in January. Omeruo and Rahman will probably be sold to European clubs, whose window closes later than ours. Piazon and Pantic who knows ? Loans again ? And fingers crossed that the elephant in the room also finds a new home ... dear old Bakayoko .... when you type his name on here it should come up as B******o like all the other swear words ....

If you've worked in your job less than 2 years i thought you can't challenge through the courts for unfair dismissal

Fair point I suppose, how late do other countries windows close though? I saw somewhere it was as late as early september, which makes it all the more stupid that our closes so early!

Depressing if true that our £35m investment is good for nothing more than the footballing equivalence of maternity cover.
