He's not a terrible player and to be fair I think he could've done OK if Conte played him more, at least over Bakayoko. But obviously he gave up completely and finds himself where he is now. Last chance to do well on loan before we can sell him to recoup something, otherwise he'll just get another loan in the final year and leave for free, cementing being one of the worst transfers for us of all time.

Drinkwater is the prime example of big fish in the small pool player not making up the grade at a better team. We need to be careful in signing the so called squad players, either top players, or upcoming young players, not those in the middle

Totally agree. Playing next to Kante can make anyone look good.

Signing squad players should be a thing of the past. You're either top class or have potential to be top class or we don't sign you.

I've watched a Burnley game lately where he started the game but was first subbed off at around 60 min. he was totaly anonymous and can't even remember that he touched the ball.

It's expected after playing one game a year if that. He's actually a good player, as demonstrated for Leicester, he just wasn't Chelsea level, but he is Premier League level.

40m. *sigh*

Add another £40m for Bakayoko, £60m for Morata, £23m for Zappacosta and you have one of the worst transfer windows ever. Only Rudiger turned out to be a good signing from that window. We may as well have just kept the players we sold / loaned. Loftus-Cheek would have gained great experience had he been given Bakayoko and Drinkwaters minutes.

What a disaster that was. Was the beginning of the end with Conte too. 160m pounds that we are desperately trying to shift off the books.

Thats one of the things im liking about Lampard so far, He would rather wait for the right players to come available and use what we have instead of just buying someone for the sake of it who isn't good enough. Ola Aina could of done Zappacosta job, Chalaboh could of done Drinkwater job and Loftus Cheek instead of Bakayako and kept all of that money.

"Aston Villa are considering ending Danny Drinkwater's loan spell after the midfielder was involved in a violent altercation with team-mate Jota.

Drinkwater, who joined Villa on loan until the end of the season in January, headbutted Jota in training on Tuesday during an angry exchange with his colleague."
