March 27, 20197 yr There's a story in The Times today about us telling CHO he must stay and won't be sold. Doesn't exactly sound like a charm offensive...…. Just as people are talking about how his value has gone up with his England performances, so now has the value of the contract Chelsea will need to offer to get him to sign and stay. I know everyone has their price, but I hope he has not moved completely beyond consideration to stay, and still has some emotional attachment to the club after being here for so long. We will need to overpay to keep him. And we are paying the price for the long culture of not promoting/committing to getting youth players into the first team. If he felt he had a fair chance, I don't think he looks lo leave. How must he feel to have two England managers show more faith in him after a couple of days, than his club has shown in him after 12 years?

It's not being negative but a fact, the initial point anyway was that the quality of teams Chelsea has played in the Europa would allow CHO to start every single game which he hasn't and that's disappointing. Again, I think this is a by-product of Sarri being given the mandate of getting into the Champions League next year, and the criticism he has faced over never having won anything. He has treated the Europa League very seriously and has shown an unwillingness to risk mistakes that could cost us.

I agree with you but with the standard of the teams in the Europa I dont see how playing CHO is a risk plus taking in account how Pedro and Willian have played this season. In reply to your other post I think the best chance of CHO staying is if Sarri leaves, what happened before, during and after the transfer window was just weird and I can see how a player would get pissed off.

I don't see it as a risk either. In fact, I think we look more threatening with CHO in the lineup. But there is a definite hesitation on Sarri's part to rotate him equally with Willian & Pedro, even though he has said CHO is on the same level.

Because those were the only two teams England have played since CHO made his England debut.....and made his full England debut before he's made a full debut in the league for his club. I actually wonder if that is a record, especially as his was one of the youngest debuts ever. Or because he's been selected by his national manager for 67% of the minutes that's been played in their compeition, while under his club manager in the BPL that percentage drops to 4%. Or put it this way, if he was good enough to start in Semi against Spurs and come on in the final against MCFC, then why hasn't he been good enough to start against the worst teams in the league even one time? ... and yes, CHO gets picked more for the Europa League..... and he's our 2nd highest scorer in the competition behind Giroud....Funny how people bringing up the former never mention the latter..... and yet still we're trying to justify he should be satisfied with 4% of the available league minutes?

Same article said his representatives relationship with the club has gotten worse and there is very little chance he signs a new deal.

And yet a story today in The Independent claiming sources tell them that a previous impasse is now gone and there is now more of a chance he would agree a new deal. Conclusion? Nobody outside the Chelsea or Hudson-Odoi inner circles has any idea what is actually happening.

Rashford, lingard, RLC, all injured. Sancho wasn't fully fit for Montenegro. All those players would be played ahead of CHO. He should start in the league, but he's been playing serious minutes in the PL recently and I imagine it won't be far away from him starting. He'd started bigger games this season than the PL games we've got left.

Rory Jennings is a real piece of work. His Twitter cover photo is his Chelsea membership from the 90s, like he post it there as some sort of proof that he’s been a fan since then, and that makes him more of a fan than others who haven’t been as long. f**king prick.

If this is true, then it will show how desperate we are to keep him. I still think he will pick playing time over the money though.
March 28, 20197 yr Don't think throwing money at him is the answer. The boy wants playing time.... So start playing him and then he'll sign.

True, but we have played and failed to beat some lower standard teams in the league as well this season. I haven't run across too many supporters who believe playing CHO is a risk, but for some reason Sarri doesn't feel the same way, despite the fact that he has come out and said he thought CHO had gotten to be on the same level as Pedro & Willian.

This is the best chance of him staying. The more he has to sit on the bench watching players whose form is below his, the less likely he is to stay. Especially since he's now had a taste of the full England squad.
March 28, 20197 yr There seems to be a constant change in the goalposts with Odoi. When he was not getting minutes it was "look at Foden at City", now he's getting more minutes than him it's "but it's not in the league", no doubt if he was getting the league minutes instead of Europa/League Cup the narrative would be "we give him the league minutes but in the competitions we have a chance of winning Sarri doesn't trust him". Even getting an England call up on the back of his appearances here is being spun into a negative. Now don't get me wrong i question Sarri's squad management with a few players (Christensen, Ampadu, Cesc and to an extent Emerson and Giroud) however Odoi is likely to end up with around 25-30 appearances at sixth form age, all said had that been any other club the manager in question would be getting w**ked off into a coma.
March 28, 20197 yr I have a really bad feeling that he'll end up leaving even if we start him in the remainder of our premier league fixtures this season. I'm very suspicious of his representation and think they could be looking for a big payday which they will get if he leaves. We need to be starting him from now on and hope that he's a strong enough person to make his own mind up regarding his future, rather than listen to people that might not have his best interests at heart. It's got to the point now where I'd be more upset/annoyed if CHO left than Hazard.

Number of appearances and his age (mentioned by Sarri) should be less a topic of conversation. The kid is a talent, he's one of our three best wide players, we ae more threatening when he plays, and he often makes us better than when Pedro or William are on the pitch. The players that give us the best chance to win should be on the field regardless of age or appearances. And the Foden comparison doesn't hold up for me because City have better players in front of him than CHO does.

And the Foden comparison doesn't hold up for me because City have better players in front of him than CHO does. When Messi was 17/18 he was behind Maxi Lopez in the pecking order at Barcelona, even at 17 Messi on paper was probably superior to Maxi yet his introduction was still a slow burner. Callum's still quite raw and has often looked lost against high calibre opposition, infact every time he's faced any of the top sides (and Wolves) he's been worse than the much malinged duo, infact his best performances have come playing with Willian ironically. That's not a slight on him it's fully normal for a player his age to blow hot and cold but the idea he will be a week in week out upgrade at RW is flawed at best. At the start of the season i said if Odoi made 15 appearances alongside smashing the youth cup i would be satisfied, the fact he will likely close to double that with appearances that include a cup final and a Wembley semi vs Spurs is a success in my book, but it does have to be further built on next season.
