Callum Hudson-Odoi

Featured Replies

BT showed a stat that the only two players with more involvement in goals in 90 mins is Hazard & Giroud.

Every game he plays - he has big moments, whether it’s chances, goals, assists - he is our future, he needs to be starting more often than not and we need to convince him his future is here. I absolutely love him!

I know he hasn't been too impressive in the Premier League but I still think we need to give him a start, why not next game?

He has nothing but ambition to improve and showcase his talent, it's better than what the likes of what Willian and Pedro have been showing for us of late. We keep playing the way we did against Wolves we have absolutely no chance of top 4, we need to adjust until the season is over for to even be within a chance of getting it.

Not sure if anyone covered this topic, but CHO is in the Top 10 Goal scorers of This year's UEFA Europa League - that has to count for something in the Coaching Staff's mind now

It's frustrating.

I think it's fair to compare his position with Rashford at United. Rashford played in a Europa League game for United at the same age and scored twice, he was instantly rewarded and played against Arsenal in the next game, he scored twice which won them the game. Now he is a first team regular with them and already been to a world cup with his country. Hudson-Odoi is better than Rashford was at the same age and he can barely get a minute in the Premier League.

With us, our young players play in the Europa League and Cup games, they score and assist but often get left out of the team for the next game. Players should be rewarded for their performances no matter what age they are. I remember Loftus-Cheek scoring a hat-trick in the Europa League, he was on the bench for the next game. I can't think of any other club where that would happen. A hat-trick from midfield? that should guarantee you a start in the next game.

People often say "but that was against a pub team"........but there are plenty of regular first 11 players playing against those same teams but you don't see them consistently scoring and assisting. I don't see any other midfielder scoring a hat-trick for us this season, it's not often Willian and Pedro will score and assist in the same amount of minutes as Hudson-Odoi this season.

Rashford played against Arsenal because he was the only striker available, if we go into a game with Hazard, Willian and Pedro injured I'm fairly sure CHO would be starting so it's quite the unfair comparison.

one more positive is the fact that Willie & Pedro have to step up their performances or CHO will take their minutes. No coincidence that Pedro is enjoying his best spell w/ the club. The threat of CHO is real for those two.

LOL, it is because if Rashford was at CFC in the exact same circumstances we'd have played a false-9 against Arsenal with Rashford on the bench.

Or he could have started a semi final against Spurs at Wembley or be brought on at nil nil in the final.

Or, or, or he could not make a single league start all season while only getting 119 league minutes all season and be told "wow, you're getting so much playing time it's amazing!  The most of anyone your age ever!  Don't be silly by expecting more and just be patient, you might get double that next season!!"

No one actually said that though, there's a middle ground between that and claiming 25 appearances (his likely season total give or take a game or two) as a 17/18 year old which also aided a national team call up is akin to treating someone like crap.

No one....... except Sarri....  not heard any of his press conference speaking to this?

To be fair I guess now we are calling them appearances instead of "games", but if you haven't heard Sarri wax lyrically about how much CHO has played this season & how he is the luckiest teenage footballer in the world, and that he should expect about double the amount of "games next season" then I just have to assume you haven't heard any of those press conferences.....should be easy to find on youtube or feel free to trawl through all the comments regarding them on this forum.

Didn’t Sarri in effect say that though? I mean @Barry Bridges is obviously exaggerating to make a point, but didn’t Sarri basically mean that he should be happy with his Europa league minutes and 100+ PL minutes because no other 18 yr old is making that many “appearances”?

LOL I mean even papers are taking the piss right now about how CHO is getting called up to the senior England squad despite only playing 2 hours of league football LOL.

I mean he could play 150% of the BPL minute he has gotten thus far over the 30 BPL games already played in a single international break........ I don't think he will, but he could..... that's pretty pathetic considering our circumstances.

There have been a lot of comparisons between the amount of playing time given to CHO vs. Foden (even on here), yet CHO was called up for the senior team ahead of Foden.  So clearly he is getting enough playing time to be noticed. I just hope this leads to even more playing time for CHO. I honestly think it would be Sarri's best move if he wants a longer opportunity at Chelsea.

For the record as of today

Europa League: 413min against the likes of BATE, Vidi, PAOK and Dynamo

FA Cup: 180min against Nottm Forest and Sheff Wed

League Cup: 120min against Spurs and Man Coty

PL: 119min. Longest 2 appearances were 42’ vs Watford and 29’ vs Wolves. Everything else was 16’(vs Everton) or below

Total Appearances: 18

Minutes against PL level opposition (the stat that matters in my book): 119+120= 239min

Even if you count Dynamo (lol), it’s 341min

Beating a dead horse by now, but that’s nowhere near enough.

By contrast, Rashford in his 2015/2016 season (I think he was 18 then), had 861 PL min. On top of that, he had a Europa league start against Liverpool, and FA cup starts against West Ham, Everton and Crystal Palace. That’s 1000+ min of PL level competition

Hoprfully hring called up will make him re think leaving

Sadly I think it will make him even more determined to leave, while he moves forward on international front, his career is stagnating here, he's at a club that is a rudderless ship, no ambition anymore, people at the top who are clueless and a manager who doesn't believe in him or more than likely a manager that is out of his depth. The choice isn't hard, Chelsea or a European super power like Bayern Munich.
