The manager asks for another striker and they sign ANY striker. Literally. Just any bloody striker. To keep Conte quiet. If true, this is the Board trolling the manager. That's what the club has come down to.
January 15, 20188 yr Why the f**k would we buy AC? Bakayoka came injured, Barkley came injured, Drinkwater came injured...Carroll ? anyone else out there that needs a treatment table for a few weeks at Chelsea that might be worth looking at?

They are losing sanchez and/or ozil and getting an out and out 29 year old striker who in a year or 2 will lose his main strength - his pace. Sorry, but its not even close to strengthening. Laca is as good a striker, but who is going to provide for laca/pea? Elneny? Coq? Wheelchair? Ramsey?

A meh transfer to be very prejudiced towards the board, but its also clear that Conte simply does not trust Michy at all.

January 15, 20188 yr I think the main issue is cash will be tight before, and for several years after we build the new stadium. Roman's bank account isnt a bottomless pit.
January 15, 20188 yr What confuses me the most is we are not willing to spend top dollar on top players anymore but we will happily spend 40 million on Bakayoko and 35 million on Drinkwater in the same transfer window. We could have got a top player with that 75 million.
January 15, 20188 yr I'd rather nobody than waste money on AC - has to be a joke. 20m now takes off 20m to spend in the summer. I do wonder if Maria secretly works for Man Utd and is on an inside mission to destroy the club.

January 15, 20188 yr I think at this stage we should be well passed the stage of being worried, we're ion a crisis. We've lost or drawn games that last year, with a similar squad, we strolled. Burnley at home, Palace away, West Ham away, Arsenal home and away, Everton away, Leicester at home. Thats 21 points we should have won, instead we took 4 points from those 7 games. 4 f**king points out of 21 that was on offer. I hate doom and gloom posts but that stat is disgraceful consdiering none of those games were, on paper, all that difficult, Burnley, Palace and West Ham should have been gimmes, we were unlucky against Arsenal and Everton away. We were poor against Arsenal at home and we deserevd to lose agaisnt Leicester.
January 15, 20188 yr We lost away at Arsenal 3-0 and Conte was reportedly sacked soon after. Edited January 15, 20188 yr by Stim
January 15, 20188 yr Of course it's worrying time, anytime we aren't top of the league. Considering the investment Roman has put in to this club, I found it insulting some fans pointing fingers at him. If Roman decided it's time we need to balance our book, we should accept and get on with it. Will the owner of Man City still chip in 250M a year in 10 years time?

Yes I think this has to be the reason. One billion on a stadium is a hell of a lot. I noticed spurs aren't able to spend big as their stadium is being built too. I am in two minds about the stadium though. It's great to get a new stadium, but then how much is that going to affect us over the short term? It won't be good for us financially if we can't compete. We are talking another 5 years.

Kyle Walker has a simple job at City, I'm not sure if you watched the match today but he got exposed when under pressure, he gave the ball away plenty of times, he's in that City team for his pace & experience alone. Moses overall is the better player, he has better delivery, trickery and link-up play. If you're saying Walker is seriously a different level to Zappa & Moses then you haven't been watching him, you've most likely just watched City highlights on MOTD. Better delivery? Moses can’t cross the road. Moses had a terrific season last year but that was more the exception than the rule IMO. Walker is miles better than Moses.

January 15, 20188 yr In the last 2 years we've brought in Kante, Rudiger, Morata (who is quality despite his current lean spell), and some good squad players with the likes of Drinkwater, Alonso etc. Bakayoko has had a rocky start, but he's a high potential youngster who could very well turn out to be a good buy. Oh and Christiansen has come back and been superb. Oh and we've won the league twice in three years.. If this is a crisis, then sign me up for some more of them. So we might bring in Carroll for 6 months. So? He'll enable Morata to rest and get back into form, and we're not winning the league this year anyway. Sure this isn't one of those 'YAY! THE WORLD IS BLUE!!' periods for us, but come on lets not go all RAWK. WE'll come out of our current dip in form and finish comfortably in the top 4, and hopefully pick up a cup or two as well. Carefree.
January 15, 20188 yr For me we don't need AC, we currently since Azpi has been ciosed down been unable to provide decent crosses! Although defensively we are not conceding much neither are we scoring and if current form continues we might not make the top 4.
January 15, 20188 yr I'm not too worried. A lot of people have based their expectations on the freak success of last season. Last season we overachieved massively thanks mainly to: 1) switching to a new formation that most of our opponents were unfamiliar with, 2) a relatively light match schedule with no CL football, and 3) the under-performance of Man City and Man Utd. Top four is what we should realistically be expecting. Money does not buy success but it definitely makes it more likely, and we simply do not have the resources to compete with City and Utd. Our first team is similar in strength to last season's, which is disappointing considering the extra TV and prize money that we would have received. The transfer market was insane in the summer and everybody was asking for ridiculous amounts of money, and as a result it seems that we baulked at the fees for some of our/Conte's top targets. This is the aspect that concerns me slightly - that we might end up losing Conte due to our failing to sign the players he wants. If we loose Conte then I will be worried.
January 15, 20188 yr All very good points.......but yes we should and are worried about this mess. To me it has been clear for a number a years that the people Upstairs are incompetent and if nothing done will be the end of Chels we know atm. And they do all this with absolute zero accountability.......its always the manager WHO gets to taste that famous war axe. You have to consider the climate......we have Clubs willing to fight.....to spend.....to grow and get better. We? Well its going kinda the opposite direction. And you can bet your behind it will get alot worse before we can dream about it getting better. This is not a one off incident.....its been so for a while. Andy carrol........bloody hell......how tiny we have become.

Who knows how long Rudiger was there? f**k off, you probably ring up everyday asking if you can get a Sandro shirt!

Does it include the two league titles we've won in the last three years? Seriously, I can understand people being concerned about things, but if the board were so incompetent, then they're doing a pretty impressive job of hiding it behind a giant pile of trophies.
