Olivier Giroud to Chelsea

Featured Replies

4 goals the last week. He is feeling it now. Given that and the influence he has on Hazard's and Willian's game, he should defenitely start on Sunday. Sarri has simply no excuse to choose Morata over Olivier for the very next game.

Frustrating that neither of our strikers seem capable of putting in a run of good performances at the moment.

Surely we’ve got to be at least thinking about signing a new striker in January?

I was at the Bridge both Thursday & Sunday. Thursday he was putting in lots of work upfront and then he looked like he was wearing lead boots on Sunday. I don’t think he’s capable of starting two games in 4 days.

Which is all the more concerning going into the Christmas period where the games are going to be coming thick and fast.

We're probably going to be relying on Morata a fair bit over the next three weeks because I agree I'm not sure Giroud is able to play games in quick succession.

It is but that’s where we’re at and we can’t do anything about it. We could have retained either Michy or Tammy to give us some options but we didn’t.

We can only hope the club address it in January.

Showed more in 15 minutes than Higuain did in 75.

Would be my first choice striker until the end of the season.

We should have much better than both Higuain and Giroud, we shouldn't need to rely on Giroud, a player that can barely run and is on his last legs after 70 minutes. But that is the position we are in now, and Giroud is our best striker so he has to play.

It's the one position that we should of took more seriously last summer it's beyond me why the board didn't think we needed a replacement for Costa. They acted in January and got Higuain, but he's as useless as a one legged man at an arse kicking contest.

Between Giroud and Higuain I'd pick Giroud all day but that's not saying much about our options up front.

It also doesn't say much for Sarri either in getting Higuaín.

I prefer Giroud though I originally believed that Higuaín would do well for us as he understood Sarri-ball etc.

It didn't help we didn't get him until the end of the window either.

I think the problem was that they hoped Morata would come good... forked out a lot of cash and clearly there is a goalscorer in there just not cut out for the rigors of the Premier League.

Unfortunately Sarri-ball was dead in the water 2 months before Higuain arrived so I suppose there's an argument for that too.

Sarri-ball dead in the water 2 months before he arrived?

Seem to remember being unbeaten for months and beating the likes of City in December with Sarri. Strange.

Yea the city win came right after defeats to spurs and wolves and a win against a relegation threatened Fulham.

Sarri-ball was found out at the end of November mate

Beat Fulham 2-0 then lost to Wolves 2-1 three days later, away from home, against a side that has been brilliant against the Top 6 this season.

3 days later we beat one of the most dominant teams the league has ever seen 2-0.

Went on to then win 4 of our next 5 games.

Lets not forget knocking Spurs out of a semi-final, arguably should have beat City in the final if not for a penalty shoot out and then beating Spurs in the league three days later.

If this is Sarri-ball dead in the water, i can't wait to see it in full flow next season pal.

You forgot to mention beating by Arsenal hammered by Bournemouth, hammered by city(A loss to city can happen but 6-0)knocked out of the cup at home to united. All the while still chewing on broken up cigarette butts in the dugout.

Penny finally dropped for the league cup final and figured out a plan B.

So we've had some big highs and big lows, pretty normal and expected given such a change to the system.

Said in the pre-match press conference that he isn't content to be second choice striker at Chelsea and unless he is given a bigger role in the team he doesn't want to sign a 12 month extension and would leave at the end of the season.

Acknowledges that things are up in the air with the potential transfer ban but still wants his future sorted before the end of the season.

Can't see him staying personally. If we have the transfer ban and Sarri is still here he's going to want to keep Higuain around. Transfer ban is lifted, we're going to go out and find someone better.

I could see Michy B being bought back next season as second choice.

It’s one thing wanting to keep him, can’t see the board ever sanctioning the move. Giroud seems to overvalue himself and it shows how dire our situation is. Common he was a 4th choice forward at Arsenal. Would clear the deck regarding our forward options even with a transfer ban, and bring back loan options. Anyone else but these two please.

But i reckon Higuain too would score in the Europa league.

He might indeed yet for me I would like to see Giroud in the League.

The Higuaín purchase has not worked, he has not hit the ground running, not saying it is all his fault yet he has not clicked with the team.

The team are comfortable with Giroud though perhaps he is just a 70 min player.
