Next Chelsea Manager

Who would be your choice as Chelsea manager going into next season? 213 members have voted

  1. 1. Here are the current favorites with Conte included. Jody Morris is in there as he is the current youth team manager, and promoting from within seems to have worked for Barca, so why not us?!

Or maybe him and Bruce are just mates. This whole 'they were seen together!' stuff from the press is usually a bit mad.

How many people have got undeserved jobs due to being mates with the guy in charge? I don't trust the board to not pull that move.

World cup starts in 3 weeks. Then  pre season just after. Our window for signing players and integrating them into the side is as small as ever. We should've done this days a go. Unless you think we should make the new managers job harder by reducing the time he has to work with new players.

I don’t think that at all but realistically these things don’t happen over night. I’m not the one jumping to conclusions that things aren’t happing because it hasn’t happened a week after our season ended.

No not at all, but he was also playing in Italy not England. How many times have we seen powerful box to box players streaming past Fabregas? To regularly in my view.

I can see him playing a role under Sarri but probably as the furthest forward of a midfield three. Kante is obviously a given in a three, that leaves a deeper lying midfielder who is quick and defensively sound but can also distribute the ball.

Weigl is a candidate although I'm not sure how realistic that is. We are linked with Seri but I'm not sure a midfield featuring two players smaller than 170 is viable in our league.

Not sure this matters that much.  For the role that Seri would play, his short stature wouldn’t make much of a difference.  And it’s not like we would be benching a tall, aerial presence to make room, as it would be Baka or Cesc making way.

Are you seriously suggesting we are going to appoint Mick McCarthy?

Napoli rejected an offer of €4M from Chelsea for Maurizio Sarri. They have made it clear that they are not looking to negotiate a price and are demanding that Chelsea pay the full €8M clause (@CorSport)

We haggling over about 1/10 of a Bakayoko ::clap2::

Making a prediction and sticking to it.

We will haggle a lot between now and thursday to get him cheaper, Thursday will come and go with no more news.  From Friday onwards i reckon Sarri will quit, waive his pay off, lets say 2m, and we will pay him the money back over his contract

Also read on Twitter we are looking at Mick Mccarthy. I'm giving up if that's the case.

I think you should give up whatever happens.

That clause expires on Thursday, we just need to wait.

True, but if you are Sarri and have plans to rebuild our squad in your own image this isn't exactly the best opening gambit is it really. Its hardly ambitious. It remainds of the little girl in the Dairy Milky advert handing over a plastic 20p, two buttons, a ring from a christmas cracker and a my little pony, at which point ADL goes " vai avanti, Marina"

No. I have a feeling his name is being reported to scare us into thinking any other option is a great option. I don't trust the board not to do something that's ridiculous though.

Well, you know, that's just, like, your opinion, man.

We should just cash out get Sarri and start the transfer window before it's too late.

He has been available since Monday. Why is it taking 6 days to sign him? The only reports are "Sarri is hours away from signing" which have been reported since Tuesday/Wednesday. Either every report is wrong or we are seriously having stumbling blocks to the deal being done. If every report is wrong it makes me think maybe we were never truly in for him and if there are stumbling blocks we could be pricing ourselves out of the move by trying to haggle the price down the same way we have done before.

If the clause expires, doesn't that mean they could demand more?

They've already got another manager, surely it's against regulations to keep a manager hostage.

I think so, which is why I can see him demanding a lot more once it expires as he gets pissed off with our lowballing.

If we'd signed him after 1 day and it had gone wrong, the board would get stick for rushing to a decision. This stuff is complex and involves multi-millions, its hardly like a week is a lifetime.

1) Why the hell is this taking so long? This incredibly important, incredibly short transfer window is slipping through our fingers as we speak. Other clubs who finished the season in similar managerial situations to ourselves have already appointed new managers and are making player signings.

2) Why does do we need to pay a release clause for Sarri when he's already been sacked?

We may do that for sure, I wouldn’t put it past us but it’s business. These things aren’t always as simple as they appear to be. I think it all undeniable that we’ve had talks with him. Conte will go for sure, he’s lost the dressing room and pissed off to many people whether it’s Sarri that replaces him I guess we’ll find out.

Ahh napoli remind me of dealing with Lyon over signing essien, only worse.

For heavens 20 million to pay off conte OR we just cope one more year and he leaves for nothing? Let him stay, his ego means he will work hard to have a good year. A poor year hits his chances of one of the best jobs.

With conte I believe we can win the Europa league. That will do.

Let him moan in the press and cut a sad figure but we can still win, like we did year.

Also means he can quit

Do we know that for sure? Would be too easy. Sure some Italian source or media would have run that story by now if thats the case?
