Next Chelsea Manager

  1. 1. Here are the current favorites with Conte included. Jody Morris is in there as he is the current youth team manager, and promoting from within seems to have worked for Barca, so why not us?!

For purely academic reasons could those distressed with the board for not just coughing up the £8m answer this hypothetical question.

Your work colleague has brought in a sandwich for lunch, he then decided actually I fancy a pizza and orders in the pizza and now has no intention of eating his sandwich,  you offer to take the sandwich for your lunch as you actually quite fancy a sandwich and offer to pay your colleague the amount he spent on said sandwich and he says f**k off I want double. What do you do?

Lads, the writer of this article is actually calling Conte one of the best managers in club history.

Just came here to post this

As  they say it’s all about opinions . Winning a league isn’t easy so from that point he has to be up there but his two seasons have been chalk and cheese so that is itself puts his status in question but where he fails is in his diplomatic and man management skills. The unknown is how much more he could have got out of the squad or indeed the board if he hadn’t been so public and negative in his comments

It's not Antonio people and the players don't want. It's the style. We are all tired of staying deep, behind the ball, waiting for counter attacks and mistakes.

Agree with the style comment at times it  is quite simply terrible. Players not able to express themselves is one thing for me but I am far from impressed about  the players  constantly receiving instructions from the touch line Some will argue its shows passion from the manager and yes I can see that but I personally wonder if far from a positive impact on the players it actually constrains and indeed distracts them

Mmm, I don't know, maybe observing last few transfer windows is going to give you a hint.

So,  just guess work then?  Ignoring Morata, Rudiger, Emerson, Kante, Luiz, Alonso, as someone else said earlier?

You should apply to the Daily Mail for a job  - they ignore inconvenient facts as well.

Just skipped a few pages in this thread, and still couldn't find a poster not sh*tting themselves! All you twats worrying about who our next Manager/DOF is or what players we are/aren't signing, just chill out! You have no say on who the club sign or who they fire, or how the club goes about it's business. In fact, nothing you say or think has any affect on what happens with Chelsea. You either follow the club through thick or thin or you don't. It's as simple as that!

Some people take this football malarkey far too seriously. All too scared in case your mates at work have bragging rights over you!

There is a difference between moaning and being annoyed at what your club is doing and believing that the club are listening.

Supporting a club through thick and thin doesn't mean you accept mediocrity with a shrug.

“I think the Blanc thing is just a safety net. Club spoke to him over two weeks ago, yet still went on and agreed terms with Sarri. I could be wrong of course but I still believe they will get him.

And what is worth remembering is Sarri and Chelsea have agreed terms - meaning they would have discussed transfer targets. So as much as I share your frustrations here, Sarri’s targets will already be known. Just bringing some balance to the situation.”

This Simon Phillips. Does he have sources close to the club or does he only report stuff other are reporting? Or is he in the same category as NiiNii?

Well with the release clause expiring tomorrow I guess today is the day. If we aren't paying the £8mil release clause then I doubt we will bother any further since ADL can ask for more than £8mil after tomorrow.

He says he knows people who are connected the club. He is genuine, not a twitter fan boy.

Napoli president on Sarri: “There has not been any contact, no club has called me. I don’t give discounts, as I have to defend my fans. The clause is there to defend me and allow me to make certain decisions." #CFC

Crazy president!

Fine, be annoyed all you want. But do you even know why you're annoyed? Other than the media hyperbole, do you have any idea what's happening behind closed doors at the club?

I know people who are connected at the club.  Doesn't mean I have any information at all about negotiations about managers and/or transfers.

Strange statement, being a fan gives us the right to not be happy with mediocrity. Just because we have no control over it, doesn't mean it doesn't affect us.

There was no hyperbole, I was quoting myself in a previous post.  It wasn't my "arbritary line for worrying" - you go ahead and worry all you like.  If we are in mid-July with no signing and no manager, then I will be a bit concerned, but please feel free to fret as soon as you like, based on nothing but your own pessimism.  I think we should  not, by default, adopt an anti-club stance,  just because there is nothing actually confirmed in May, which is what you and  several others are doing.  Like I said to the other person, no-one, not you, not me, not them, not everybody has any idea what negotiations are ongoing, what deals are being done and for what value, and so, in my opinion, anyone making negative comments about the progress or otherwise,  based on rumours in the press and twatter  feeds, needs to just settle down and be patient.  For the benefit of their own sense of well-being and their blood pressure.

But I'm neither your alternative therapist nor your doctor, so if you want to build up a head of steam with premature and unjustified outrage, go right ahead.  And that will be my last word on this.

And this is my point, exactly.

I'm not going to lie, I was very tired when I wrote that and in an irritable mood. Looking back I was talking crap with that post.

I do think we need to sort the situation out early though because where we are right now isn't good for anybody. I actually don't think we are even in for Sarri as no reliable sources have had us linked to him beyond initial interest which means very little. I don't have a clue who will be our manager next season and the lack of anything to discuss has got me more worked up then if we had concrete links to a manager. There is nothing worse then not knowing what is happening as a fan of a club and that's why I and other fans are getting so worried over everything.

I'm not taking any anti club stance. I just want what is best for the club and the current situation is not what is best for the club in any way shape or form. The idea of our rivals being ahead of us in their preparationsale for the season is infuriating for me especially when it's evident that preparation in the office season massively affects the whole season itself. The big difference between Mourinho's last two seasons here were the fact that his pre seasons were much better prepared and sorted out early. I'm not just talking signings either, everything about that pre season was poor preparation and it meant we started slowly and could never catch up. It's a very real fear of this happening that gets me worried.

I also have a feeling that Marina is on a power trip and as a result is more interested in controlling the club then what's best for the club. But that's just my tin foil opinion based upon how she has taken control of the DoF job.

Pay us money to watch us play but you're not allowed to have an (in some cases, educated) opinion

Here's an idea I read today, "maybe just offer Conte a new contract, shower him with support and quality new signings, get rid of the malcontents, and watch the trophy-winning magic happen once again".

Doesn't this seem like the simplest/most practical option right now?

no. Cba with another season of Hazard flase 9. Target men striker. Useless substitutions. Defensive football. Then all these 'quality' signings are useless when Conte walks at the end of his contract and the new manager doesn't want them. We're just delaying the inevitability of him leaving.

Problem with another Conte season is he won't be here beyond that season. That means we can only really go short term with any plans as we may need to readjust next season for a new manager and new style. It's also just as likely to go the way of this season then it is Conte's first season.

Crazy president!

This is why I would have loved to see Conte take up the Napoli job, it would have been a perfect marriage.

I don’t understand our play here regarding Sarri’s contract, as I would have expected us to play the clause to help smoothen things if we are to go after one of their players.

£35m on Drinkwater.

£40m on Bakayoko

£28m on Zappacosta

But £8m on a new manager?... not on Marina's watch!

Selling Matic to United for the price of 1 Danny Drinkwater was a bit of a gem too.

Honestly, certain people should be lucky they still have a job. Most people would be sacked on the spot for wasting that much money.
