Next Chelsea Manager

Who would be your choice as Chelsea manager going into next season? 213 members have voted

  1. 1. Here are the current favorites with Conte included. Jody Morris is in there as he is the current youth team manager, and promoting from within seems to have worked for Barca, so why not us?!

A nice article on Blanc at PSG. Its hard to tell whether the teams success was down to the players own in game intelligence (Which is what this implies) or through Blancs training that gave them such good positional structure. The implication is that he gave them freedom to express themselves and it was their own positional awareness that created the football as explained why they were so inconsistent under him. Its not really replicable at Chelsea because our players lack intelligence.

When we win the league.

And in any case we were the better team this season, 1 Fa Cup trophy to Chelsea, 1 runners up medal for Liverpool and the 4th place trophy, Tottenham the Jemaine Jenas award for the team that deserves better aka thr didn' turn up when it mattered award.

Arsenal won the FA Cup the season before, did that make them better than Spurs City and Liverpool? We all know the best teams don't necessarily win in the Cup competitions, we even won the Champions League while finishing 5th in the League! Anyway, I feel like all I've done on here today is argue 1 pointless argument after another, so I'm done today. I'll put you all in your place another time perhaps.

Confirmed by my sources

dont ask me about my sources

Why did we buy Ross Barkley? The manager didn't want him. The manager hadn't even heard of him. The board obviously thought it was a good idea. Young, homegrown, good resale value etc.  Personally I think he's a very good player but I'm obviously in the minority on these boards. No matter, why did we buy him? Especially when we have RLC on our books? It's not a player we really need if we want to give RLC a chance, and it's not a player the manager felt we needed, so why did we buy him? Anyone?

"I know Davey, it's because we have a well thought-out strategy, with the manager and the board fully in cahoots, all singing from the same hymn sheet."

"Er, wrong."

What does this have to do with Sarri I hear you ask, or whoever the next incumbent will be. It has a lot to do with it, and I think it validates those who are getting a little bit twitchy. You see every single one of our rivals has a manager. That's the first thing. And we're behind them, in case you hadn't noticed. They're not playing catch-up with us, we're playing catch-up with them. They're all in the CL, we're not, in case you hadn't noticed. We need to be one step ahead of the game, not two steps behind it.

"Sorry Davey I'm still not with you."

"That's because you're a blinking idiot."

Do you think Utd or City buy players above their managers' heads? They don't. Their managers are talking to their boards and they're coming up with a plan, as we speak. They only buy players the manager needs, or wants. We don't do this. We buy players the manager has never heard of. Did someone mention Baba Rahman? Exactly. Papa Djibdjob? Exactly. Now you're getting my point.

"I think I'm getting your point Davey."

"I should hope so."

"Where is Papa Djibdjob these days anyway?"

Liverpool have bought a midfielder, to add to the other midfielder they've bought. They're already stronger than they were last season, significantly stronger, and they were way better than us. Who do you think wanted these players? I'll give you a clue. It was the manager.

Our last two managers have fallen out with the board over transfer strategy. Have you noticed? We bought players they'd never heard of. Have you noticed? We don't do what all our main rivals do, we do things another way.

"Yes but we won the title Davey. Give the board some credit."

"We had no right winning the title. That was all down to the manager."

"Yes but who appointed the manager?"

"I'll give you that. It was the board, but once you have your manager surely you have to be on the same page as him, surely you have to be in agreement over things, otherwise it will always explode."

"That's a good point Davey."

"I do my best."

You see folks? People are getting twitchy because the window's open, it's shorter than usual, there's also the small matter of the WC, we don't have a manager or a DoF, and our board have a habit of doing rather strange things in the window.

Get the manager in, speak to him, because that's important, speaking, it's good to talk, come up with a plan, get everybody on board, and start implementing that plan, the way all our rivals are doing already.

Edit: First thing on the agenda might be what to do with Ross Barkley ..

::clap2::::clap2::

If one could dream. Thats why its taking this long. Board + Marina + Sarri want to work together and instead of rushing they do it properly and thoroughly.

Well its just a dream one may have. Probably they do haggling over the 4 millions extra...

So, lets play Sarri lottery.

what happens next?  We pay the clause tomorrow and Sarri joins or we do nothing and fail to agree a deal with ADL, moving onto someone else.

Tomorrow will be full of rumors that Chelsea have activated the clause along with rumors that we activated Icardis clause, bidding for Higuain and how Lewandowski wants to join us. A official confirmation of Sarri seems imminent according to every reliable journo. Then everything will go silent. One week passes, two weeks passes. "We still only in June" etc etc. Mid July we sack Conte and sign Blanc/Hiddink. Rumors about the big fishes have gone dry and instead we can read about imminent signing of Mitrovic, Crouch and Lorientedjilobodji.

I don't know Davey I'm actually quite looking forward to watching Bakayoko and Barkley grace Stamford Bridge next season, if we're going to be sh*t we may as well do it with craft, intelligence and guile (or the opposite of if you get my point) :dash1:

Even if the clause expires i don't think we'll move onto someone else. At the end of the day a deal is still the most benefitial to all parties.

This notion that after the clause expires ADL will be able to ask whatever he wants is BS.

If he did Sarri and us would have plenty of legal actions to take as in this day and age i find it hard to believe that a club could hold a manager at  ransom while they've already hired a new one.

Didn't both Mourinho and Conte know what they were getting into ? Our way of doing things was known before they signed the contract. Even in their first year(s) they seemed fine with how we were running things.

Problems only seemed to happen after they won the title and tried to demand more power in terms of transfers. The board denied and both Mourinho/Conte ended up sulking and complaining publicly.

I think the lack of a director of football is the club realising this, marina is currently taking on a lot less than Emanolo did and I imagine in the future the role will be very different to what it what previously a football voice on the board who monotors the transition of youth and loanees, rather than making any signings. (Hopefully Ballack)

Source told @CalcioNapoli24 that Maurizio Sarri will not ‘fight’ with Napoli to be free from tomorrow: then Chelsea have to talk directly with De Laurentiis to have Sarri. Today is the last day of €8M release clause, at the moment there isn’t an offer from Chelsea to pay it

My word, this is dragging out.

My word, this is dragging out.

That could've been leaked by napoli to force us into paying up today.

I can't understand the club's reluctance to pay it, unless they know that if they hold off, he will come for free.

When all is said and done €8m does not affect anything. PSG seem to find ways to spend €400m I'm sure we can risk the 'wrath' from uefa.

This is taking it's time. I will start to get worried if nothing sorted by the end of next week. All very very quiet.

What on earth is going on. I can't believe this is happening. Sarri is probably thinking of backing down looking at how much of a mess this club is in.

FFS - do you even read what you write?  "What on earth is going on"?  Then "how much of a mess this club is in"!  If you don't know what is going on, then how the hell do you know the club is in a mess?

Talk about whingeing without rational thought.

Liverpool are signing players early. Man City are already doing business early again, bidding 40 million on Jorginho, a player we could desperately do with.

And I will not be surprised one bit if we haven't signed one player by next month, I doubt we will even have this managerial situation sorted.

Yes I also doubt we will sign a player by tomorrow

One thing is for sure and that is that the longer this goes unresolved the more doubt and uncertainty will creep into certain players minds. Like Hazard for example.
