Ronaldo was they key for Madrid, he brought the best out of his teammates and his influence was incredible so much so that his departure alone saw the side plummet to desperate levels.

Hazard, Pogba and whoever else are not changing that IMO. The fans are ruthless and they hounded Bale...kicked his car spat at him booed him and that was after CL wins and CL final goals. Madrid are going through a complete rebuild and it’s possibly the worst ever time to have joined them in recent memory.

 

I agree, Ronaldo never accepted defeat wich made everyone work harder and raised their competition level up the roof. Hazard and Pogba sometimes gives me the impression that they dont really care about winning and are satisfied with just playing football as a living. I think its up to Zidane to find how to motivate this new group of players who admires him. Gonna be really interesting how it goes for them next season because they havent been great in La Liga for a while (of course they won 3 straight CL).

one could make the argument that Chelsea are in a better situation at the moment that Real Madrid. More points earned in a stronger league & two cup finals. I know, that doesn't jive with the narrative.

I remember when Real Madrid fans were booing Ronaldo cause he went through a dry patch. Just take that in for a second that’s Ronaldo whose arguably their best ever player and they boo’d him cause he wasn’t scoring goals for a period.

We booed Sarri and Jorginho almost all season and we had a banner calling Hazard and Fabregas rats a couple years ago, I don't think  we are much better

Madrid have a nigh unlimited budget, a manager players run through walls for and to play for, no transfer ban and 4 champs leagues in the last 5 years.

To be fair they are the 2 most followed clubs in the country right? Natural they'd have the most televised matches. 

 

My hats off to City. They are likely losing Sane and have signed a like for like replacement in Daniel James for cheap. They'll probably make about 90m in the process and the drop off will be minimal considering Sane doesn't start much and James will benefit from better players around him and Peps coaching.

Bale is an enigma.

Certainly not in Zidane's' plans and the latter questioned his motivation.

I've always felt his drive appeared when he was wearing the red shirt with the dragon emblem, the only problem was after that he went back to being mercurial rather than consistent. 

 

I'd still take Gareth Bale.

If he comes back to the prem he'll be one of the best players in it for sure.

Shame his wages are such a road block.
