Expectations, Hopes and Fears for the New Season.

Featured Replies

I expect to finish in the top 4. I think with the squad of players we have, this shouldn't be as hard as we made it out to be last season.

I hope we can get top 4 and win the Europa League. Like i said above, we have the squad of players and i don't see why we can't achieve both.

My fears are Sarri being another AVB or Scolari. After chasing him for so long this summer, it would be very frustrating if he can't get us into that top 4 and competing again. I also fear losing one of Kante or Hazard, we need them both if we want to compete with the best again.

I am just hoping for a positive atmosphere, and some exciting games.

I still think we are a few players short of having a team that should comfortably be in the top 4.

Hopefully get some interesting fixtures in the Europa league.

If we get top 4 or win a trophy I'll be very happy.

I don't really have fears as such, but it will disappointing if hazard goes, and I'm hoping sarri gets chance to implement his style, and that everyone shows a little patience if things don't start off well.

With the squad we have now we can aim for top four, but I can't predict anything until the transfer window closes. After that i'll make a judgement.

My expectations for the season are for both the players and manager to give a sh*t and put their all into the majority of fixtures, we have a squad of players very capable of top 4, so at least competing for top 4 is a minimum in the league.

I would hope that we play some exciting football and have a decent top 3 league campaign with a decent performance in atleast one of the many cups we are in. I also would hope that we use the Europa league and other cup competitions to make sure a few of our academy players gets some game time. Hazard, Kante and Azpi are all tied down to new long term contracts.

My fear is that Sarri's style of play takes a while to implement and that we as a fan base or the board turn on him and therefore do not allow him the patience he may well need to turn the club into one of the most exciting teams in the prem, along with Hazard deciding he wants to leave either in January or next summer.

I think our best hope is that those who disappointed last season, mainly Bakayoko and Morata, will have had a full pre season under their belts and a better understanding of what playing in the Prem is about. That and a couple of decent signings should see us back in the top 4 ok. Copy and paste from every season in recent memory.....please let's see a couple of the kids given a decent go.

It will be interesting how the other top 6 teams do. I think Arsenal will have a decent season with a new man in charge so along with Spurs and Liverpool, that does present a tough top 6.

Just about to hit the sack, then read your post and decided to stay up a little longer in fear of a nightmare.

I think top four is the target and I would expect us to finish ahead of Spurs who I think will regress because they’re not building on their squad... I feel like they’ve peaked and won’t know how to kick on from previous seasons.

You'd expect the two Manchester clubs to finish in the top four so it’s a question of whether Liverpool can repeat and improve upon last season and it’s a big question of whether Salah played the season of his life or if he’s going to be as threatening again.

I think we could and should progress to the latter stages of the Europa League. We’re in it so we might as well go for it and try and win it and the longer we stay in the more chances the likes of RLC, Mount and a couple of the other young lads might get to play some games.

Comfortable top 4 finish hopefully. Same expectation I had in Conte's first season and he blew me away and exceeded it comfortably. Maybe I'll be lucky a second time. Sarri definitely needs to be given time though.

Hopefully we can tie Hazard and Kante down to new contracts. As much as I like that Alisson bloke and accept that he would probably fit better with Sarri's system, Courtois is a top talent and we must do everything to keep him.

Just want to forget the recent sh*t, and play some good football this year. Would like Sarri to walk up to Jose after one of his tantrums and calmly blow smoke in his face.

Hope?  As with every season, that we get enough points to avoid relegation.  Anything more than that is a bonus.

Expectation?  My only expectation is that the players give 100% on the pitch and try not to be too much of a tit off it.

Fear?  That the fan-base will display its customary lack of patience and start the dogs' abuse of manager/board member/scapegoat player of the week when we aren't 20  points clear at the top of the table after three matches, and we will also get the logical dichotomy of people in here demanding that we play the "youf" and then abusing the likes of Christensen when he makes  a  mistake.  (Actually, this is what I expect, as  well!)

I don't think anyone will be close to City again this coming season, but a top 4 finish should be the fair and realistic goal.. should we invest in one or two more stellar players.

I just want to see chelsea play fun, winning football that the boys enjoy. If they're enjoying themselves they're pretty damn good and they're tough to beat. We've also seen some of these boys not give 100% (at least it appeared that way), so if they're enjoying themselves we probably don't have to worry about anything like that.

Let's just go win a bunch of trophies

About them giving 100%, I believe if they are in the running to win they tend to do that naturally and if not in the running to win they nearly always pull out the stops against certain sides like Spurs.

Re City, I think it will be much harder yet again for them to run away with the league, they are not an unknown quantity now and the exposure players like De Bruyne got at the WC will have highlighted not only their strengths yet their weaknesses too.
