Jorginho is.... (well now was) a Blue

Featured Replies

What makes me laugh more than anything, is that players don't even get a full season to adapt anymore. Once the fans have made up their mind, that's it! IMO as the season progressed, Jorginho got better and better and was IMO one of our best players towards the end.

If he doesn't kick on this season, then fair enough, but give the guy a bloody chance!

just a reminder - Pep wanted Jorginho as well - I still believe when Rio gave his verdict on Jorginho, that is when the fans started to turn on him - it is his opinion, but he also said that Yanited would finish above Chelsea - the records will show that he was dead wrong on his judgements of Jorginho & his manure predictions

For me the key to our entire midfield/Jorginho conundrum is to make sure Kante plays where he's at his best. Which is right in the middle of the park and if you do that then Kante is good enough too hide some of his midfield partners weaknesses. Jorginho got some obvious weaknesses in this league especially but if the plan is to have him form the midfield base in a 4-2-3-1 alongside Kante then i see potential in that partnership. It will come down to who performs best out of him and Kovacic for that spot beside Kante i believe so it will be interesting to see how he performs this season.

Considering Lampard likes to play a possession based style of play I'm pretty sure Jorginho will be one of the first names on the team sheet due to him being our best player at keeping possession and our best player at resisting the press

Stop talking facts...thats not allowed only emotions and feelings

I´ll backtrack on my previous comments a bit. It´s not that Jorginho is not a good player. But as Lamps said a couple of days ago, he doesn´t want players who see Chelsea as a stopgap in their careers, he want´s players who bleed blue like the Drogba´s and Terry´s of his time. I´m not saying Jorginho is using us for a chance to go to Real or anything. It´s just that I don´t see in him the desire to win at all costs anytime he steps onto the pitch. It´s what separates this squad from the one that triumphed in Munich. I´d take a Ramires over a Jorginho any day of the week.

I couldn't disagree more. I'm with Frank on this one...

"It's not only his quality on the ball. We know all about that from last year, his comfort on the ball and the bravery he shows. It's not normal to receive the ball in tight areas and to deal with it - and to keep doing it constantly.

"His attitude in training has also been first class. He's a driver of a session. He's a voice. He runs, he pushes people around him, he drags people up when he doesn't feel they're working as much as he might want - and I've loved seeing that. So in terms of first impressions, working with him for 10 days, I can't ask for any more. I'm delighted to have him."

Based on what? Where exactly are you getting his lack of desire to win from?

From what I have seen on the football pitch, granted, he might prove me wrong and I´m not writing him off, let´s see what the season brings. It might be I´ll be eating my words this time next year. But for now I remain wishing back the good old days.

Rob Green were on a podcast yesterday were he spoke about lots of things about last season and Sarri. He brought up the tactical inflexibility of Sarri and talked about how he refused to change even when Jorginho was being man-marked out of games. Players were instructed to continue to find Jorginho with their passes even though he was under heavy pressure and when players brought up the fact that we would lose the ball and get countered playing that way he just told them to “play the same way but do it better”

I think we’ll see a different Jorginho this season. Lampard is a smart and sensible manager and he’ll figure out how to get the best out of Jorginho in this league.

It wasn't all rainbows and party's in Munich with the old guard either, there were plenty of up's and downs especially circa 08-11.

Don't really get the notion that the winning mentality has eroded with the new generation, our trophy count clearly suggests otherwise.

What a bunch of drivel.

Jorginho is not a Wise or Gattuso-type midfielder who puts all his personality on the pitch like a small terrier. He is more about finesse and brain. He is a player that should be the reason for our flowing football. Jorginho is also at his level which is top level and not absolute elite like Modric or Kante even. I don't think his ceiling is much higher than where he is. If the system supports his skills he is one of the most important players in the team.

At the start he was caught in possession a lot and being man marked limited his effect on the team and therefore Sarriball.

The last couple of months I though he was our 2nd or 3rd best player.

His ability in tight spaces and his one touch football is quality and his words about not following Sarri to Juventus makes me think he’s very happy to stay at Chelsea.

If other players can step up I think he will be a very important to our team this season.

I read the other day that he wasn’t happy about losing a game in training so he tried to steal the camera while they were taking a picture of the winning team. Doesn’t sound like the actions of somebody who doesn’t mind losing!

It's a bizarre thing to say about him, literally every goal against us he's instantly cajoling other players and trying to raise them, I have no idea how anyone can say he has no desire to win.

All I remember Robson saying was "What does Jorginho do?  What does he do?  I don't know what he does."  You'd swear he has never watched a game before.

I thought Willian was the new Mikel? Man it's so hard to keep up.
