Just look at his story how he fooled spuds and the games vs spuds that he solved or that goal against Barcelona. He showed up in big games for us even if he didn't have the consistency overall. 7 years in the club. Edited June 19, 20206 yr by Gol15

He` s such a polarising player but he`s one I think were better with in the team than without. Strangely he`s the one player other than Hazard that my mates who support other teams always claim as our best player and one they wish their teams had signed. Yeah i remember explaining to my United mates (when they were linked with him) why i preferred Pedro and they laughed at me like i said Taarabt was better than Messi. I can sort of see why oppo fans rate him that highly though, when on song he is pretty special (Spurs away, the October games, that run in and around the Barca games, that performance against us for Donetsk) but he sadly never could turn into that player consistently.

That's because Willian is world class for 5-7 games of the season and average for the rest. You only notice players of another club if they are world class or sh*t. You don't notice the average. So other fans see his world class performances and think he must always be like that. Chelsea fans get frustrated because he isn't.

I don't think you have the right to question the lineups when we're on a 3 game winning streak after the break and 5 overall, your whole "Kante shouldn't walk in the team after others were better" doesn't make any sense now does it?

That's funny, because when we were losing games with Kante you completely avoided this argument and were saying those specific stats are meaningless.
June 29, 20206 yr There was a hunger and intensity from him as soon as he came on that I haven't noticed before. It looked like he was everywhere, particularly in the first 15 minutes or so. Playing like he had a point to prove and boy did he prove it.

Well at that point we were on a winning streak having just won the CL final with Bertrand and Kalou as wingers. You said we shouldn't question a starting line up if we are winning. Therefore his question is fair, should we have gone into the next season with Kalou and Bertrand as wingers... What didn't you understand by his point? Treat stupidity with stupidity.
June 29, 20206 yr Made us look like a different team the moment he came on. Immediatly took control of the midfield, forced Leicester errors in the buildup and took a ton of pressure off N'Golo. Consistently playing on a high level and seems to be by far the most comfortable player in our squad when the tempo of a game picks up. When you try to disposess or press him he will embarass you.

We only played that final with a lineup that we could play with and it was only 1 game, so 1 final game where anything can happen since it's a final has really nothing to do with a next season nobody ever thought that Bertrand should be a starter. To have a 3 game winning streak while choosing from a few available players is a totally different thing, on top of it it's 5 games with a long break where bench players made those wins possible so if you can't see how stupid and uncomparable those two things are I will be happy to further prove it. That was stretching a very silly complaint, as long as Lampard is winning, there is no argument here, are we done now? Some seems upset that their Idol Kova went a bit back to his usual career path, coming on from the bench...so they want to stick it up to Lampard, quite sad really...

"we can't change a team when winning" Someone finds an example that doesn't suit the narrative. "But that's different"
June 29, 20206 yr Kovacic has everything I want to see in a player. He has aggression and tenacity, a great workrate, carries the ball incredibly well. Gets himself and his teammates out of trouble well by protecting the ball and always gives 100%. Out of our central midfield options, he would be the undroppable one for me. i think his top-level mentality really shines through. You can just tell he's spent his career at top clubs. Great technique too.

Don't change a winning team? So is that the midfield with Gilmour from the last game or perhaps the one from the game before against City? Lampard IS changing the winning team. We won our last game once Kovacic was subbed on. Explain that to me. Or did we win in spite of him coming on, not because of him coming on? He dominated the midfield the second he stepped on the pitch.
June 29, 20206 yr He made a huge difference on sunday, he reminds me of Ballack the way he's always available for a pass, I bet the other players love playing with him as he's constantly an outlet. And there's a lot of faith in him, you can hit any ball at him and he controls it no matter the cover. I think he's definitely proven a few people wrong who were questioning his signing at the start of the season.
