Make no mistake Rafa's approach today is a HUGE compliment to the job Sarri is doing, you don't play those type of tactics unless you are absolutely sh*tting yourself. Take into account that their best defender ,Lascelles was out as was the darling of St. James's Park, Shelvey and it was no surprise to me that he adopted those tactics, especially with Clark and Fernandez as the centre back partnership. F**k me, I'd have stuck five players around that pair of sh*te.
August 27, 20187 yr What I don't get is how are Newcastle considered a big team? They last won a meaningful trophy in the 50s, do they think they're a big team because they have passionate fans? From where I stand, they're a tinpot club with a big stadium, the fact they're scumbag fans think they're a big side that plays good football and then have to endure Rafa parking a double decker bus in front of their goal for 90 mins is a joke. The sooner Rafa and Newcastle go back to the Championship where they belong, the better.

If it's trophies, obviously they aren't any longer but at what point do you then stop being a big club? ManU didn't win the league between 1968 to 1992 were they in danger of being a smaller club or Liverpool from 1990 to present? Maybe it's attendance, Newcastle have consistently attracted 52,k they are though a one club city or maybe it's just like every club they have a history within they game.

No mention of the systematic hacking of hazard at all, and the insinuating of Giroud cheating was disgusting after it was blatant he had been elbowed in the face. Bunch of c**ts.

Really want to see Christensen starting again together with Rudiger. They'll make a beast pairing Doubt it. Christiansen isn’t a ball playing center back that Sarri requires.

We have faced teams without key players before but i have never seen a team set up the way Newcastle did yesterday, it was San Marino in world cup qualification esque the way everyone was back. 44 minutes ago, dkw said: It was ridiculous, but expected from those bellends, Murphy being the biggest. Just seen we have got Cardiff in two weeks, whats the odds they start tossing off Warnock after he does a major hatchet job on Hazard? (which he will, Sane was targeted to rough treatment by Colin last season and was remarkably lucky not to brake his leg).
August 27, 20187 yr A very satisfactory win and a good performance, considering 4 months ago they blew us off the park when we played an almost full strength team. Complete different game from last week, we managed the game well apart from that couple of minutes when they got the lucky break. We never got frustrated, just kept going at them. They defend the goal well for 85 minutes, we just tested them a bit longer and got the result. Last season, we wouldn't have won because we usually got frustrated and just pump long balls forward in desperation after 200 side ways passing. We still need to improve of course, should have done better with the goal conceded, that was literally the only chance they had. I have no idea why Giroud was defending at LB, CD stopped tracking the only runner once the referee an linesman did nothing. We aren't going to solve our scoring issues after 3 games, we did enough this game, no doubt Sarri will put the team into intensive drills again.
August 27, 20187 yr Very pleased with the points, complete control possession wise but we didn't have much clear chances. In the first half Eden and Pedro could have done better with their chance towards the end. After we took the lead Newcastle scored from their only shot on goal with over an hour of play. They managed two shots on target and scored, i fear that we will struggle against teams that will press us. Luiz didn't do well for our goal, however we stopped as we thought we would get a foul on Giroud. You play until the ref signals the foul simple as it is. Newcastle played very deep left us with very little space, happy to finally get the win there. Three out of three better than i expected to be honest, while we still have lot of work to do the early signs are exciting, hope we give Sarri a proper chance it could be good for us. Bournemouth next at the Bridge they are a open team hardly ever park the bus, could be a good game and we will have chances to open them up. They smashed us 0-3 last season, doubt it will be happening this time around.

I really think he should be disciplined by the BBC for that comment. He basically said you can lead with your arm and elbow players as long as you don't catch them too hard and do much damage.

August 27, 20187 yr So according to these good for nothing ( pundits etc ) Giroud acted like he was hit or hurt.........no mention how they hacked and sliced Eden.......and that we somehow were very Lucky to win and NC deserved something for their efforts. Dear media, we Chelsea fans want you to contemplate how insignificant we find you.........you are like an insect sitting at our dinner while having the balls to act tough.

Albiol in first three matches with Sarri and with Rafa seemed awful defender, then he became one of the stongest in Europe. Sarri needs time to improve players, especially defenders.

August 27, 20187 yr I'd much prefer a 2-1 win than anything positive the commentators might say about the elbow on Giroud. A bit of karma that the same guy scored the OG.

Even at half time when Souness and Rednap were going on about how negative Newcastle were, he began by saying he disagreed with everything they said. He was a right twa@. 19 hours ago, The Brit said: Sadly I heard that prick too and moaned about him earlier in the thread...I don't expect chelsea tv coverage but a bit of balance is surely fair enough? Barely heard a good word said about us this season and that's after winning three out of three...just imagine if we'd started like West Ham?! I thought HInchcliffe was commentatiting the match here in the states. We had Jon Champion & Jim Beglin. Champion was ok, but that Beglin fellow was really against CFC. What is up w/ these commentators? So bias to provide the utmost support for the dirty red sides?

We possess the ball in 3/4 of the match - you can't stop that possession with clear defensive tackles and bodies on the ball - you gotta commit fouls and even if the ref let them kick the sh*t out of our stars, sooner or later he gets tired and gives a penalty or a card. today was the perfect example of that. We've seen it in Barcelona, Bayern, City, now it's our turn. And to be honest, I'm enjoying. Yes, we might have seen clueless at moments but I'd take that kind of football against that kind of opponent all day ahead of some sh*tty, pragmatic contrived scheme for 0-1, waiting for the ref to give us a penalty or a corner like Jose or Antonio would have wanted us to play. Call me old school but i think what this shows is how difficult it is to keep 100% concentration when you are defending. If your teams plan is to park the bus, then make sure the players are capable of it, cos if they lose concentration for even a second - the whole game plan is undone. This makes me appreciate the times in the past when we took this defensive approach - sure it is boring on the eyes but for a defender - it is an uncomfortable position. You will never be the hero but it is so easy to become the villain.
