August 31, 20187 yr PAOK is a Team from Thessaloniki, second largest city in Greece. Best Greek team at this moment.
August 31, 20187 yr The top four qualifying for the CL has to stop, look at the teams in this competitions.
August 31, 20187 yr A joke competition, awful teams everywhere. We have no excuse, we HAVE to win this (again).

While I acknowledge the overall quality isn't great, there are still some very good teams competing, so we can't take success for granted. Also, European football can't be a closed shop to the big boys (although that's unfortunately the route it's going, particularly with UEFA set to bring in a third competition), so it's good that there are opportunities for the Europe's lesser sides to have some continental success.

I'm having none of it. We want to be up there competing with the best, and these teams are just....tripe. Our own fault though, we weren't good enough last season.
August 31, 20187 yr Anyone know what out ticket allocation will likely be for these games? Couple of hundred or couple of thousand? Will be good to try and get one of the more interesting European away days in.

We can't stumble through a season and then complain about the quality of teams we have to face in the secondary tournament. We didn't deserve to qualify for the CL last season. While I'm looking forward to the Europa League campaign, I do hope we are back in the CL sooner rather than later. Edited August 31, 20187 yr by adineen98
August 31, 20187 yr Lets face it, European football is a bit over-hyped. Even the early group stages of the CL can be very boring and the Europa League is 10 x worse. Not too fussed about missing the CL this season and I bet deep down, Sarri is secretly pleased. The pressure is off and it means he will be able to rest out key players whilst also getting the chance to look at fringe players and some of the youth. Should be a win / win situation really with only pressure when we get to the latter stages and the teams who crash out of CL join the Europa Party!
August 31, 20187 yr Just looking at our Premier league games following immediately after Europa league games and they don't look too bad. If we make it all the way to the final then 4 of our last 5 Premier league games will come the weekend after a Thursday night game. Liverpool at Anfield after a quarter final game obviously being the most dangerous! 20th September - Group game West ham (A) 4th October- Group game Southampton (A) 25th October- Group game Burnley (A) 8th November- Group game Everton (H) 29th November- Group game Fulham (H) 13th December- Group game Brighton (A) 14th February - Round of 32 first leg (TBC) FA cup 5th round game 21st February- Round of 32 second leg Brighton (H) 7th March - Round of 16 first leg Wolves (H) 14th March - Round of 16 second leg Everton (A) 11th April- Quarter final first leg Liverpool (A) 18th April - Quarter final second leg Burnley (H) 2nd May - Semi final first leg Watford (H) 9th May - Semi final second leg Leicester (A) 29th May - Final

August 31, 20187 yr I think it'll be interesting tbh, but I think this will be a strain on our league games sadly.
August 31, 20187 yr I have to say it and it may sound hypocritical because we won it via similar way, but teams dropping out of CL group stages and going into EL is not right whatsoever. Now the EL means more for the winner, making the means of getting to the final tougher with better teams coming from the CL to the EL is unacceptable tbh. If you quality for CL, you do it on merit, the same if you qualify for the EL. However, you shouldn't be rewarded (because that is basically what it is in some ways) at the chance of another trophy if you didn't get in that tournament on merit. Although it's fun to mock Arsenal, they missed out last season on CL football this season because they drew and got beat by Atletico, who themselves dropped out the CL group stages and went into the Europa. UEFA need to get their act together and scrap that B.S altogether imo. There's a real possibility teams like Inter Milan, Monaco, Liverpool or Napoli, Benfica/Ajax, Lyon/Shakhtar, CSKA Moscow, Valencia (or Utd) could drop out of CL and into the EL this season. August 31, 20187 yr I have to say that I was looking forward to this draw because the prospects of us getting favorable matches with the ability to allow players to play from the start such as: RLC, Ampadu Tammy and CHO. I really think the draw went very well for Chelsea. Travel isn't too ridiculous and there is no trip to Kyrgyzstan or where ever CarrotBag fC is located. PAOK and BATE would be awesome places to go and watch those matches. Lets go win the cup boys!
August 31, 20187 yr This is a good opportunity for Sarri to get some European experience, he didn't do much in Europe with Napoli as far as I remember.

August 31, 20187 yr PAOK isn't the best greek team It's behind AEK and arguably Olympiakos They came 2nd last year and just lost 1-4 to Basel Their home ground is notorious though Last year after a 1-2 loss to AEK the pitch was invaded and the club owner walked around holding a handgun

Would it even be safe to allow our players and fans to go there if he can do that?
