January 14, 20233 yr “Chelsea will have filled their PL registrations after signing Mudryk. So anyone else coming in will mean someone sold or unregistered for the last part of the season.“ We’ll need to sell if we want to buy anymore. Not sure who we’d sell.

Havertz, Ziyech, Pulisic should be first on that list.

Maybe we should stop worrying as the owners must know what they are doing There's no point in worrying about something you can hardly understand. If we had an actual breakdown of every single one of our players wages and the actual transfer fee. Then fine. But there's so much fake noise around wages and transfers you just have to trust that the team who have made billions in the business of "making money" know better than us what they are doing. Only thing I worry about is what happens on the pitch. Therefore today is a good day. Edited January 14, 20233 yr by bisright1
January 14, 20233 yr Think it's a matter of spend while we still can, and leave the rest for the managers to sort it out. Just get a 100M MF while there are time left, hopefully not from Brighton. Last time I heard, the player was more into Arsenal than us, something must have changed.

I watch alot of sports and many clubs and franchises have dropped levels or gone bust through poor financial management and investment from those successful businessmen who run them. I mean the likes of City, Psg, Barca, Real and even us have been sanctioned to some degree around illegal activity. Everything may be okay as you say but I'm concerned for us in the mid term.

I didn't say it was okay. I said we don't have enough information to know. I'm assuming these people know what they are doing. I also watch a lot of sports. I can't name a single multi billion dollar team go bust or drop levels due to financial mismanagement, so there's really no need to stress about ours when today should be celebrating a top talent joining us and not arsenal. Sign Cucurella, who wanted to join City but came for the long, large contract. Sign Aubameyang who wanted to play for Tuchel, who we planned to sack. Tried to sign Kounde and Raphinha who made it clear they wanted Barca. About to sign Mudryk, who has made it clear he wants Arsenal so what does that mean? Coming for the long, large contract right. Only two none youth signings that have shown they actually want to be here are the two loans, and is that because they want to be here long term because they want to play for Chelsea or is it they see the long, large contracts going on?

January 15, 20233 yr I feel these signings need to work out. We will probably still end up with midfielders and every position will have significant investment by the end of the summer. Then it's a case of getting as much back as we can, and hoping we have managed to pit together a world class squad, because this level of spending is nowhere near sustainable.

Maybe this is where the Dodgers, and how they make money, comes in to play.

January 15, 20233 yr The worry is if these players turn out to be duds we won't be able to spend much in the future because of amortisation. We're essentially gambling our future as a top club here, especially if we miss out on champions league, which looks almost certain at this point.

Barca gambled and look in with a good shot at the title. We have and we are 10th.
January 15, 20233 yr We needed Enzo first. We have spent 300m in AM/Forwards this season alone. Wtf is going on? Edited January 15, 20233 yr by Deino
January 15, 20233 yr The Dodgers model is similar though isn’t it. They also buy top youngsters and do go big on top talent. They also do the long contract thing.

TBF several of those players were signed/sanctioned/approved by Tuchel. Auba and Sterling especially. The difference with these players is that there is actually a team of directors and co working behind the scene to buy these players and its not just Boehly and the manager. It's time people stop pointing all fingers at Boehly for our sh*t recruitment in the summer especially since Tuchel sanctioned several of those moves and didn't even think of fixing our midfield.
