But you're acting like Boehly is our only financial backer, he's a minority owner used as the face of the consortium. Our backers are not about to lay out around £4bn to lead us to bankruptcy. Plus you do forget that while Boehly doesn't have football experience, he's part owned sports teams for years.

True mate. I was only pointing out that by being a billionaire doesn't mean you can't f**k things up. Not saying Boehly will, but enough clubs have been ruined  under wealthy owners through the years..

mind you , if I was a billionaire or part of a wealthy consortium, the last place I would pour money into in the hope of making a buck is a football club, especially ours !

Ok let's play along.

Welcome Todd. I am certainly not a fan of your ownership so far, but have been proven wrong many times so that does not mean squat. To begin with I was worried when Uncle Ken sold up as well.

Anyway you made a right pigs ear of that first transfer window. Good luck shifting on Sterling, Koulibaly, Cucurella and Aubameyang cause you will certainly need it. I hope this window will prove better. Badiashile made a good start so here is hoping.

Do you happen to know George Clooney? Asking for a friend *cough* @Valerie*cough*

Keep an eye on the managerial career of the Shed ends own @Zetaeveryone speaks highly of him and think he is the dogs b*ll*cks on here.

I would also put forward @Munkworthto take over as our mascot to keep the fans pumped during the game, you know how that can help with sales of food and drink. He would be perfect for the role. In an unrelated matter he would also like Guro Rietans phone number...

If you need an administrator look no further than our own @Mod. Been running this place for years and never had had a single site issue....

Also we have talented artist/gif master here in @mojohire him for your social media team, he would be great.

Lastly if you want your own social media ITK on payroll take on @JM7. As we say around here, he has the sauce!

Huh ?...is that bloody George trying it on with Val ?

I'll have a word, I know him .. 😁😁😁😁😁😁 cough

I'll let you know when I've done my UEFA C next year. Currently my team has gone up 2 divisions this season, so doing reasonably well.

There's a valid argument that football clubs are a good investment.

There are 16 american sports teams who are valued higher than United (the highest valued team). Hardly anyone outside the US knows them. And they only play for a 3rd of the year.

English football is watched in bigger numbers, for more days, in more countries.

As an example, Dallas cowboys are apparently worth 3bn more than United. But United have 14x more Instagram followers than the cowboys. United play 3x more games a year.

In 10 years time, I wouldn't be surprised if we are 2 or 3x the value we were bought for.

There you go Todd. If Potter takes us down here is a guy who knows all about promotions!

I genuinely believe we are in very good hands here. Why I haven’t been panicking one bit, I know we will be back and more than likely better than ever. We had been in a slow downturn since the glory days and winning the CL just papered over that slightly.

When this happened, after doing some research I was reassured about our new ownership based on their track record, as well as Abramovich’s blessing when he had many many offers. We all know he cared deeply about this club, and he chose them, we also know Roman is a very intelligent savvy man.

With those three factors combined, I felt and feel very hopeful and positive for our future, which also allows me to somewhat enjoy us being occasionally s**t again.
It reminds me of the old days when I did not know if we would win or not, and mostly expected us to f**k it up because we usually would. We got spoiled for awhile, and it shows in a lot of our fan base. This will just make when we do win the PL again, and we will, that much sweeter.

Based on what I have seen so far, I imagine this scene from the Albert Finney version of Scrooge is exactly how I imagine Todd Boehly conducts our transfer business.

The video should be tee'd up to the toy shop scene.

Good, people need to earn their contracts. Mount better get to working.

What seems to have passed many by is that the club is going through massive change not just player wise but just as importantly the whole commercial side of the club is at long last being exploited.

But it’s the playing side that really is of the most interest because far too many what instant results and had we not suffered so many injuries then I for one have no doubt our league position would be far more healthy.

Most of the players that have arrived aren’t about the here and now it’s about seasons going forward.

The younger players being bought in on such long contracts is mainly about FFP and in particular reduction in the charge to amortisation it’s something that will massively help with the changes to FFP that are now in play and the clever part is that the changes also include timings over what a  measured period of time looks like. It used to be accounting years it’s now transfer windows.

At some point a significant number of players will leave some will for way smaller sums that they were signed for but most will be sold for more than their book value and here’s the point many will have been been paid for during RA tenure .

For instance let’s say Kepa is sold for £25 million . He cost £71 million and was given a 7 year deal at the end of this season his value will be £20 million so technically or shall I say in accounting /FFP terms there will be a profit of £5 million and in cash terms the current owners will have £25 million  extra in cash because he cost them nothing

I got really bored and did all the sums earlier.

Revenue for us is about 600m a year

We probably spend about 190mE on wages

I estimate yearly amortised costs to be about 190m for everyone in the squad + lukaku.

Meaning we are close to the 70% figure we need to be. Agent costs take us very close.

But that's before any transfers this year. As you say, selling kepa for 25m gives a small profit. But selling Gallagher gives a 100% profit, same with RLC.

Realistically I could see us netting 200m this summer with transfers.

In short. We are going to be fine. Provided this squad doesn't all fall in value across the board and we need to take losses.

Insightful analysis.

What's most interesting to me is that our most expensive transfers in terms of ffp are

Lukaku, 20m, havertz 16m, Pulisic 12.8 and then kepa, w fofana, and jorginho at 11.4

5/6 bought pre Boehly.

Where is this player?

Thanks for posting this mate, enjoyed rewatching Mount and seeing my boys Tammy, Giroud and Werner. I never stopped believing in Mount even when his form drops.

Seeing this video though reminded me why I loved him as a player in the first place. What a ride that 20/21 season was! As good as Kanté, Jorginho, Kova and the whole defence were, he was the constant in attack. Hope he signs again proper Chelsea this lad

It's been reported for a few days now and I've tried to ignore it but, more reputable sources are coming out and discussing it. Thoughts if TT joins Spurs? Obviously it won't tarnish what he did here as was the case with Jose and Antonio. I do think if he joins them they're guaranteed top 4 for the foreseeable future. He can coach them to defend better and the attack is exactly what he was missing here at least two superstars in attack.

I suppose Boehly and Co will act like they don't care, although I do wonder if they now understand why the elite teams keep recruiting elite coaches. Whereas under them we went from the former/current reigning "best coach in the world" to an up and coming coach that's a very big difference no one can dispute that. Really hope Potter works out for us because it's a big gamble.

If you told me at that Spurs game when Conte and TT clashed, we could potentially have to see him on their touchline this same season I would have never dreamed that possible.

Nizaar is super unreliable to the point that it has become a meme. I used to follow him until he kept missing the mark on all his ‘scoops’.

Tuchel and foreseeable future means 18-24 months basically. I can live with that. And I consider him and Conte being in the same level as Pep and Klopp. Tottenham material is just so weak compared to City and Liverpool first 11.

Premier league is so interesting to top managers. Conte being in Tottenham basically underlines that.

Well business is business, so it's no real surprise if Tuchel went to Spurs. If they can keep Kane, then they'll always be pretty competitive, but you have to think if Kane wants to stay any longer given Tottenham are no closer to a title attack than they were 4/5 seasons. I mean could say the same for us, but at least we've had a sh*t attack. They have a quality attack, yet can't challenge. Kane has been their saviour season after season.
