Reece is one of the few individuals that keep us connected to the club.

Great news! Really, we need him to have someone in the team that us fans can connect with. And he needs to impose himself among his team mates, we can't have Jorgensen not attending to reason when James tells him to go to the travelling fans only to pay attention to Sanchez.

Wonder what 2 CB's we will go for this week. None of them covering themselves in glory recently. Think I would go for Sarr and Acheampong but zero chance of that happening.

Not only is he having to spout the BlueCo PR about being excited about the clubs future under this ownership, the sporting directors and Rosenior he also have taken a big basic wage cut to fit in with the performance based wage structure.

I don't imagine we see many others do that, and given Reece could walk in to any club who competes for the best honors each year and earn more to boot shows how loyal he is.

Reece James has committed his future to Chelsea by signing a new six-year contract.

The talismanic captain, whose last agreement ran to June 2028, will spend what should be the peak period of his career at Stamford Bridge.

James, 26, joined the club aged six and is now tied down until the summer of 2032 — in a deal that sees him align with the incentivised wage structure adopted since Chelsea’s May 2022 takeover.

Although his most recent extension happened under the current ownership, James was the final player still on terms from the previous era and this development ensures that will be rectified.

So does indeed sound like this new contract has a lower basic pay than his previous contract (which was reported as £250K) ...

I wonder if this now leaves Wesley Fofana as our highest paid player LOL

I mean the incentive based contracts started in BlueCos first January window.

Cucu has signed a new deal since Todd's window, now Reece has too. I think all bar Fofana of Todd's main signings have since left, and Wes has not signed a new deal since then. He has 3 year left this summer.
