April 3, 20197 yr Jorginho in the right set up, absolutely bossed it tonight, now you know why Sarri persists, Hazard simply brilliant, CHO bloody marvellous, RLC silky, (Ballackesque)

We were 3-0 at 68mins; wrap CHO, Hazard & RLC in cotton wool for the weekend. Come weekend his excuse will be CHO is tired after playing 90mins & RLC can’t manage 2 games in 4days. We will probably be back to dross at the weekend because of this. You gotta laugh...they moan when he leaves them on the bench.....now moaning we didnt put them back on the bench
April 3, 20197 yr I have a confession; I left on 86 minutes because of ‘severe disruption on the district line’ and managed to jump straight on the tube. I’m eternally embarrassed and beg for forgiveness.
April 3, 20197 yr Imagine how much MORE we would have won by if only we'd fired Sarri on Monday morning.

April 3, 20197 yr Just now, General said: Like to be proved wrong however in my defense I said 2-0 it was 3-0 and I never foresaw 7 changes. Have to ask myself why did we see the same failing lineup these last few weeks when we could of seen today’s ?? Still think he needs to go and a coach that wants to use the youth players more often is the way forward for the club. CAREFREE then !!! Honestly who has used youth more than Sarri in the past 20 years?
April 3, 20197 yr Surely loftus-lamps owns that position now, he offers so much more than Barkley and kova
April 3, 20197 yr Very good performance, great three points. Thought Jorginho ran the show, some wayward forward passes but he had a real drive to inject the pace when needed, and take the sting out when the team needed to regroup. Giroud too, got the goal and although it wasn't a 'memorable' striker's performance, showed real fight and leadership in the final 3rd. Hazard and Loftus Cheek's goals were superb. And although I think Pedro and Willian are harshly criticized on this forum, Hudson Odoi's performance (first half in particular) was every bit as threatening as they've been at their best this season. Has to be in the starting rotation as often as they are on that form. Final hat tip goes to Christensen, thought he snuffed out a lot of attacks before they developed and played a very composed sweeper role, dealing with a few tricky overhead long balls really well. Solid team win, great couple of results to kick on in the final stretch of the season.

I'm happy for Jorginho and it's an important win but better sides will still mark him out of the game.

April 3, 20197 yr Happy with the win, happy with the performance. Main question to be asked tonight is why haven’t some of these players starting tonight been given more opportunities earlier in the season? We saw everything tonight we’ve been lacking for months, hopefully it continues!

To be fair to him, its games like these I'm usually wondering why he's even needed, given the opposition don't press him. Hasn't looked like he's made good use of the time and space he's been given really, but tonight he drove forward and influenced our attacks a lot more.
April 3, 20197 yr On my way home. Tidy performance as peple have said ruben, hazard,CHO all played well. Thought Jourginio played well too, but he did have loads of time and space. Only negatives loads of empty seats and poor atmosphere first half. It did improve as the team did. Would like to see the same 11 for the pikey boys. Let's get that top 4 place and get behind the team
April 3, 20197 yr Getting back from the Bridge. Nice second half but I thought that the first half was way too slow. From the MHU, where I was seating, and the repetition on the screens, it looked like Giroud’s goal was own goal, but can’t really tell. Better second half but slow at some points. We still don’t counter when we get them with the wrong foot. I thought that Hazard and RLC’s goals were a sample of what Sarri wants, one touch passes and goal. CHO was good, especially in the first half, and RLC was also great. They should both start against the Spammers. Azpi was better attacking than Emerson, which did not impress me much. And Jorginho had a great game with some neat passes too. This is something we can build on surely.
April 3, 20197 yr Good positive performance and result. Disappointed to hear people behind me in the M H U shouting f#+k Sarri ball and get the specky pikey c*”t out!! This was at 3-0 up, there is no pleasing some people. Looking forward to Monday now.
April 3, 20197 yr I saw about 65 mins of the match watching on-line on a stream and toggling between screens and got a white-out and then rebooted. Also somehow disabled my sound unintentionally 20 mins in so despite adjusting the volume buttons I lost audio. My take, Emmerson was good at LB getting forward and throwing in crosses and generally seemed sound defensively. First choice for me at LB. Luiz was partially running the show coming forward and making threatening forward passes to front men. Jorginho also looked good with time and keeping the ball moving and at times trying to thread a through ball for the front men. Christensen seemed solid, didn't notice too much yet didn't notice any mistakes either. Hope he plays in the next one. Azpi did well for the first goal yet a times looked a bit ragged in trying to keep up with opposition forwards. Kante, didn't notice too much seemed a bit more defensive than usual though should have scored when through on goal. CHO, generally a good performance, great cross for the first, thought he should have scored with the header, a couple of his deliveries were poor didn't pass the first defender. RLC not great in the first half didn't link up well with Hazard. Great movement for the goal and a terrific finish. Hazard, played well. Well taken goal and provided two good assists for CHO and RLC. At times our only payer that looked willing to take on his man. Shame about the volley he sky-ed. Giroud, reads the game well and seems to take up good positions and the players seem to find him. Holds the ball up well, think he should be first choice for the rest of the season. Zappacosta - good to see him get a run out for squad cohesiveness and notice one decent cross he put in. Kovacic, didn't see enough before my PC crashed. Generally looked more stable and balanced. CHO by always being available wide on the right made a difference for me. The defence also looked solid although until the second Brighton looked a threat on the counter. One of our better (perhaps best) performances this year. Edited April 3, 20197 yr by Strider6003
April 4, 20197 yr Better late than never I suppose, but so frustrating Sarri has taken eight months to pick the kind of side he should use against a side like Brighton at home...Callum unsurprisingly looked the part...as for Eden, we will miss him for sure.
