I tell you what, the wage bill has probably dropped a few quid this season.

No Hazard, Luiz, Cahill all gone. Drinkwater set to join Burnley and I imagine Bakayoko will be off somewhere on loan too before the month is through.

Even with the improved contracts we've handed out to the likes of RLC and CHO (next 48 hours) we've surely shaved a few million off the wage bill if only for a year.

Morata Higuain plus those released or sold on. The list is big.

I had actually pondered the thought of how frank will handle senior players he played with in terms of his authority and then treating him like a team mate not a manager.

Think he has answered that very assertively, he is the boss get on board it f**k off, logistically not ideal but as far as his dynamics as manager and team cohesion it’s brilliant.

Totally agree. But crucially for the first time the club have obviously backed him to do this. He should have been sold Jan 2018 after whiteanting Conte.

Shame we sent him to Arsenal I don't like selling anyone to rivals and he is still too close he  could easily still influence the likes of Willian and Kenedy.

I see Paddy Power are quoting odds of 50/1 for us to win the PL ... tempting .... 🙂

City a team that's won it two years running and have a bigger prize to go for in Europe

Liverpool and Spurs who don't know how to win it.

United have a clown in charge

Arsenal are Arsenal

Then there's us, a club that knows how to win, young Hungry players, and an intelligent and motivated manager who gets this club and what is expected.

Worth a small punt I would say.

Frank has a clear direction he wants to go in and that's why I'm encouraged. Everyone pulls in the same direction or you're out. I think that will ultimately make him successful. Tactics are overrated, as long as you have a committed and motivated team with talent anything is possible.

Even for a club like us with a winning mentality known for beating the odds while everyone writes us off this is a step too far. Maybe with no outstanding team (ala 15/16) there would have been a small chance but beating these City/Liverpool sides in season one over 38 will be too much even for us.

The vital thing to do now is build up the next generation, get the best youth in then fill gaps with big money transfers, do that and we will be good to go re the title again at the latest the season after next.

Willian could be a problem he is a moody little sort not really worth the trouble considering he offers not very much on the pitch.

He has been shown what happens to dissidents so I assume he knows now do as boss says or get fuxked

Blimey, this isn't a 'send them to the naughty step' clear-out.

Didn't Willian turn down a lucrative deal in China to stay? Now also having the number 10 shirt, he'll be a starter every game for sure.

He hasn't been an every game starter since Jose, can see Lampard going for 1 youth and 1 experience on the wings and just like under the last two managers Pedro will get the nod.

I think the number 10 is more a thank-you for his service while we work out who deserves it long term.

I think the number ten is more that pulisic wanted his number.

It's not like Chelsea made a song and dance about it.

I agree I think we have seen his side for the start of the season but that maybe because Willian had a knock, but I’d say without a doubt Pulasic and Pedro start for us, for sure we will see a lot of rotation on the wings when CHO is back until it’s clear what our strongest pair are.

Also don’t think Willian will start every game, he has no end product and a man like frank will become frustrated with that quickly, the 10 is a length of service thing and it’s being kept warm for CHO

Good to see the Chichester men thinking alike 🙂

That's the spirit,up the CHELS !

All said and done, I think this is a major turning point for us, most of the players are around their early to mid-twenties. It's a relatively young squad and it's Frank's era now, I'd say we're lacking a WC Striker and WC CB to launch us into title contenders. When fit, this squad has the potential to win trophies. It's all up to Frank now.

Kepa

Dave/James, Christensen/Zouma/New WC CB, Rudiger, Emerson

Kante Kovacic/Jorginho/RLC

Odoi, Barkley/Mount, Pulisic

Tammy/New WC Striker

Quite excited for the future if a few of these players step up to their potential and can grow together as a team.

I like that Frank's tenure has started with him and his team practicing what they preach.

He said when he started that everyone had a clean slate and would be judged equally.

We're seeing with the likes of Abraham, Zouma and Mount pushing for starting spots that reputations count for nothing at the start of this season.

It appears that Luiz thought he had an elevated status in the squad and his challenge to management has seen him shipped out and playing out the final years of his career at a comedy club rather than the Pride of London.

I feel we already have "WC" strikers. I wish we had good ones instead. [emoji16]

Did anyone see his press conference? So impressive. He's got that steel in his eye.

He talked up our squad. Imagine that. No whining about losing his best player, no whining about injuries, no whining about the transfer ban, he just talked us up, said he believes in this squad, said he's very happy with his squad and he expects big things.

Jesus Christ what a f**king change.

It was a good conference.

He always speaks sense. Seems to be going about things in all the right ways as he starts off his Chelsea managerial career.

It's a nice change to have a manager who actually speaks fluent English so we don't have to wait an age for the message to come across with or without an interpreter.

He's not exactly going to say the opposite is he...... let's give him 20 league matches And see where he is And see if that positive attitude remains if she 6th or 7th

Totally agree Davey. The way he handled the questions over Luiz was superb. Straight shooter no spin.

Tell you what this season is going to be really interesting and exciting regardless of our position on the table.

I've heard of this Frank bloke prior to him arriving from Derby.  Seemed like an intelligent lad with a huge drive & understanding of the game, but also humble.  I think he'll do well as a manager here so long as the club exercises patience and a recognition of what the circumstances are.

I imagine with his attributes he must have had the potential to be an amazing player, so I am hopeful he can use those attributes to help develop an fantastic team containing some amazing players/.....
